"Don't know why we are here... or what this place really is. All I know is that everything this place touches either dies or is tainted."

Kai kept walking keeping a close eye for signs of danger she had learned. So far, no signs, just some creepy upper trees and the shadows moving behind them. Maybe they weren't panicking because they weren't paying attention to the shadows. How they waved on the ground as if living, and the plants that some, if you looked hard enough resembled claw like hands that could reach out at them. It reminded her that she wanted to ask.

"Which makes me ask, why aren't you guys freaked out about this place? Is it that you have people you know here with you?"

Unfortunately, Kai's first time here she was utterly alone, and when she dropped in, it was a very bad area to be. Almost like the one they were in now. Then again that was before she faught crime... so she wasn't used to fighting for anything, not even to protect her self or survive.

Robin looked around again, this time with an greater air of caution. Sounds like the current situation wasn't as bad as it could be for the time being.

"I think after punching out psychos like Joker and Twoface, things don't seem quite as 'creepy' as they probably are..."

That was his excuse, anyway. Joker's little funhouses were not places Tim would want to randomly find himself lost in.

Arell smirked. "Aside from all de brown, dis looks a whole lot like de swamps an' bayous Dundee an' I grew up playin' in." he said with a fond smile. He was in his own element in an environment that was out to kill anyone stupid enough to walk in without a guide or decent provisions. Then again, Arell wasn't your ordinary gun-packin' Cajun.

C.J. on the other hand smiled. "Hell, I'm just used to it. My buddy Rob and I would go camping in dangerous places and do crazy stunts just for grins. For me, this is another leisurely stroll in the park." he said. Yeah, a real dead park. Maho, where's the color around here?! he thought.

Dundee was the only one who was slightly nervous. "I played in here as a kid . . . scary thought now that I'm educated enough to know it's a BAD IDEA!" Dundee said, apparently book-smarts had gotten to his head. Arell and C.J. were a pair of lucky bastards that his love of research didn't turn him into a hypochondriac!

Crystal held Arell's hand back and smiled. The place was most assuredly disconcerting, but not scary. At least not to her.

Crystal merely shrugged in response to Kai.
"Not quite as bad as some of the things my mind could create under Crain's influence. I mean, s**t, that fear gas can make you dream some freaky things, man."

She looked to Tim. He'd know exactly what she was talking about. Anyone that fought crime in Gotham for very long would eventually run into Scarecrow.

Before long the shadow of a large flying 'beast' passed them on the ground, the figure hidden by the sun. It swooped around, having apparently spotted the group.

Robin turned to exchange a look with Crystal after she contributed her own "rogue" from Gotham. Good point.

"Yeah.... he's the worst when you have an active imagination already."

Tim scrunched his nose, made a face, and turned his gaze away to keep scanning the area around them. Again, the bleek and colorless nature of their surroundings reminded him of an early mission he and some of the Titans took on when he first joined the whole 'merge'...

"I can't help but be reminded of the "San Fransisco dome", when everything was turning gray.... Is this the same kind of thing?---"

Robin looked curiously to Kai after he finished his question, but the thought was interrupted by a large shadow crossing the ground.

"Speakin' of freaky." Arell growled when he saw the shadow fly past. He looked up. Whatever it was that flew over them, it had gotten the big guy's attention. All while not letting go of Crystal's hand, he pulled the hammer back on his .357 Magnum, but not drawing it out of the holster yet. He'd have to get a better view of the thing.

C.J. on the other hand smirked. "Huh, anyone else see the pterad- 'terada- aw, hell, that big flyin' thang that just went overhead?" he asked.

Dundee rolled his eyes. "Pterodactyl. The word is Pterodactyl . . . perhaps you shoulda payed attention in History, huh?" Dundee asked as C.J. sneered.

"Dun, you ever get tired of bein' a book-smart dumbass?" he asked.

Crystal watched the shadow on the ground. "I really don't think that's a Pterodactyl. Although I don't actually know what it is, other than big and possibly dangerous." She gripped Arell's hand and reached for her explosive Kunai.

The thing was circling the group now, slowly descending towards them.

Crystal looked up at the shadowy figure in the sky. "And I think it's preparing an attack."

"Don't move..."

Kai tried saying quietly but loud enough for the group to hear her. She was standing completely still after realizing that they their actions had been noticed. She recognized the large long tailed bird like creature. And as soon as she did she came up with a good plan of action. None of these people she was with, had any magical aids or powers from this world to help, all guns would do is anger and morph the creatures. If not, only attract more. They would realize one of their own kind are down, and come looking for them.

"It's coming closer to see what we are, but if we stay perfectly still it will not tell us apart from the environment... -hopefully-. If not we need to run."

"Are you NUTS?! Dat thing's gonna eat us an' you're gonna just stand dere?!" Arell growled, getting steady aim. "So doan' min' me while I introduce my buddy Smiff . . . an' Wesson! Y'all run for cover!" he growled and let loose with a volley.

BLAM!!!

C.J. and Dundee however, had produced their own weapons and walked over to the couple.

"Don'tcha love it when we go huntin', Dundee?" C.J. asked, about to let loose with a shotgun blast, ready to give the bird-thing both barrels.

"Why do I hang out with you idiots?" Dundee asked, standing still, following Kai's example instead of trying to blast the critter out of the sky.

The bullets hit what seemed to be a force field, bouncing back towards the ground but away from the group.

Once it had been shot at it pulled it's wings to it's body and made a nose dive right at the group.

"s**t!" Crystal jumped to the side and made a dash for it, tugging Arell along. "Think, lug nut. Kai said that bullets wouldn't hurt anything here."

She snatched the gun from Arell's hand once she had gotten them under cover of a low hanging tree.
"Now settle. Kai seems that she knows what she's talking about, so listen."

Tim face-palmed as Arell and C.J. fired at the flying creature. It was obvious RC knew what she was talking about... but Robin guessed staying still wasn't an option once the figure dove for them.

"So plan B was 'run for it'?"

He also retreated to the low-hanging tree as he pulled out his bo-staff, clicking it out to it's fullest length.

"Running is good here. So long as nothing catches us."

Kai said as soon as they got cover. She looked around then tried to pull in her wings to help quicken her speed reducing the drag. The wings would not go away, she closed her eyes and took a sigh. To them it might have been a sigh over something completely different but no, it was her wings. Kai glanced back at them taking her mask off putting it in her belt, in this place it was pointless to have something obscuring her vision, even in the slightest.

"Okay, follow me, keep up and keep look out for the people behind you. No one gets left behind."

After that she darted out keeping her wings out so that the air would blow right past them rather than against. She ran quickly down the path looking back to make sure that they were following. Her vision almost narrowed on the path alone, concentrating, finding something. Her attention was away from the bird like creature flying overhead, and she wasn't aware of any forcefields that existed in this world... except the ones projected by magic users. What it could be didn't even cross her mind. She was far too worried about finding a particular place of safety that would be not to far away if they kept at a full sprint there. If they could even find a white out area, an area without creatures that glown white from the white plant life and bright white fog, that would be perfect.

"I thought dat was just her talkin'!" Arell growled. Of course, this was the THIRD time he wound up like this. After all, he was still a little sore from that incident at Dorian's island.

Dundee however, looked at the thing going for a power dive, now paralyzed with pure fear. "SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!" Dundee yelped.

C.J. holstered the shotgun and went for some rope, tying a crude lasso and stepping off to the side. "Make sure that dumbass doesn't taking any potshots at the critter. I'mma try an' save Dundee!" he growled, now twirling the rope over his head and taking aim. He threw the rope, but not towards Dundee, but the creature itself. If he could just get its head through the loop of the rope, he could jump on and wrestle it down.

"RUN FOR IT, DUN'!!" He hollered. Dundee booked it towards Kai, Arell (since the gun he took from the car was now in Crystal's hand) was about to run as well. He didn't want to transform here. Not now . . .

The creature, curled up and spun around, turning into a white cheetah. It looked straight at Arell and growled, crouching low.

Crystal Holstered the gun in one of her many coat pockets before looking over at the beast. She tilted her head at it as it's gaze moved to stare at her right back.

As she stared right into it's blue eyes and, before anyone could stop her, she let go of Arell's hand, and walked towards it.
"Hello. I know you."

The beast backed up a bit and tilted it's head right back before a very familar voice echoed from it's jaws.
"Crystal?" The White cheetah turned back into the flying felinoid named Kesshou.

"Oh my goddess. People I actually know!"
Then suddenly the dawn of realization, before turning towards Arell and C.J. "You're a** holes."

Arell growled. "Just when ya hear stuff from all sides is about to kill us, 'scuse me for bein' jumpy." he growled, realizing he quit smoking for the eighth time in a row he facepalmed himself. Of course he had been a jerk for the past several weeks. He'd been driving himSELF up the freakin' walls trying to stay off those stupid cancer sticks.

C.J. looked at Kesshou with a confused look. "So you power-dived Dundee? I'm just protecting my brother." he said, walking over to Dundee, who was still surprised, but less paralyzed with fear.

Dundee, looked at them with awe and surprise at what happened in the past fourteen seconds. Between Arell's idiocy, C.J.'s ******** and everything else, he looked at them and started walking back towards the truck. "This is so weird I need new pants." Dundee said.

C.J. looked at them all. "Stupid writer's on the fritz . . . he's never that obvious!!" he said to no-one in particular.
