"I was kinda busy freakin' out at the time," Roch said a bit dryly. "And this is my bike! Ain't it awesome? I'm gonna skip out for a road trip as soon as I've gotten to year three--I'm thinkin' Los Muertes again," he said cheerfully.
"I'm in!" Vegas said.
"Hell no, you got a business to run. I'm goin'!" Austin argued. "Cute little Caterinas, good music, good alcohol--jack, how long we waitin' for this again?"
"A week," Roch said, not arguing his old man going. Chances were good the guy would run off to party just like he had last trip. "Wanna go with me, Amrita? You'd LOVE it!"

"Wee aall weere." She reminded him quietly before focusing again on the bike. She had seen one before, but that one was sentinent and it threw both her and Christof off of it. This one though seemed a lot less...lively. But that didn't mean she trusted it. Still she nodded in agreement to it being awesome anyway, but looked thoughtful at the rest of his words.
Go with him on a road trip? Hrm. She never been to Los Muertes before!
"Whaat iss theere?" Nothing that Austin was saying made sense outside of music and beer, but even then she didn't see the draw; the ghoul was still too innocent for her own good. Caught in the middle of a war, throwing her body and life on the line for the sake of her friends, and yet regular teenage situations and experiences passed her by. Childhood? What was that?
At least she looked interested.

"It's this huge party with skeleton people in really pretty clothes, and they've got great music and dancing in the streets and parades and candy stalls! Here! I stole some chocolate skulls from granddad's, lemme give you one," he said, heading to the back of the workroom and pulling out a clear plastic box with a chocolate skull inside.
"And they got pinatas! They're these paper things you hit with a stick to get candy out of them!" he went on, offering her the skull. "But you should get fixed up before we go," he said belatedly.

Amrita took the clear box from him, looking at the chocolate skull within. She never really ate at all, but this was at least a very cute piece of candy! Roch's description was listened to intently but the box was never touched outside of being held; even if she did want to eat it, she only had one working hand!
"Thaat...thaat soounds amaaziing...!" She keened out, smiling softly for the first time in a while. His comment about getting fixed up though, that teased a very rare and equally brief chuckle from her throat, her eye rolling. "Iiif Ii gooh, Iii woould noot embarrasss yoou." It was okay for her to walk around school wounded, but in a vacation spot as nice as Los Muertes sounded like something you would wear your best body to.

"It ain't embarrassing!" Roch said. "It's just... don't you think you'd feel better if you got fixed up?" he asked, looking at the plant sprouting from her hand worriedly. "Seriously, that's not somethin' you pick up from just fallin," he added, only to glance at his very curious looking family and realize that now wasn't the time.
"I got a week left," he said. "Then I'll finish up some stuff and we'll skip out--if you wanna go with me," he told her, grinning. "Or if not, I guess I'll be stuck on the road with these two geezers--although I might ask some others if they wanna come too, like a Hob vacation!"

"Felll in a botaanyy classs?" She murmured, squirming a little bit and trying to hide her vine-infested stump once more. "Iii doo waant to geet fiixed uup, but..." What was left of her lips formed into an unhappy pout, her remaining brow knitting and her eye lowering. It seemed, in the matter of seconds, that she curled into herself, made herself smaller than she already was. The only scareling she trusted to fix her body and find spare parts for her was...not in a good place right now. She had told him world-shattering news, she had tried to stick with him if he needed her, and somehow letting someone else fix her just seemed like a bad idea for someone who was currently so mentally fragile.
"Aa Hoob vacaatioon woould bee niice...Iii becaame oone afteer the trialsss! Aand haave neever been on vacaatioon." So this Los Muertes was tempting, very tempting. What if something happened while she was gone, though? She had never been on vacation because she could never stop being a Mother Hen in her own way.

He frowned slightly, then moved closer, wrapping his arms around her shoulders. "Hey," he said quietly, next to her ear. "Don't leave me right now--" he gave the other two a glare, nodding slightly at the door. Then he waited until they were gone to go on.
"If you don't wanna get fixed up, it's fine. You come however you wanna come, okay? You know I ain't gonna care." And it was said so honestly that it almost sounded like a love confession. Thankfully neither of them would notice. "You an' me, we're good no matter what, right?"
He needed that assurance.

The hug was easily accepted and returned, the Vetala wasting no time - and thinking nothing of - leaning her forehead against Roch's chest, wrapping her arms around him as best as she could. she didn't care what Austin or Vegas thought - certainly this could be easily taken the wrong way - and she even seemed to forget they were there. All she knew is that Roch was safe, and she was getting a hug from a friend. Hugs were rare to her lately, and lately was when she needed it most.
"Eevenn iif I gooh as myseelf...?" She couldn't resist asking, though she was sure her real self was something he'd never seen before even if she had mentioned it to him; which she doubted. Still, it was good to hear; the first thing even Christof told her was that she should get patched up properly or she'd be laughed at, and the assurance that it didn't matter to someone was relieving. So relieving in fact that she began to tremble slightly, fighting back the urge to cry.
"Yesss...nooh matteer whaat." Amrita agreed anyway, her trembling arms tightening slightly around his solid form. Regardless of his answer, hers would be the same in the end; the assurance had been enough for her.

"Whatever form you wanna come in, even if we gotta rent a bus or somethin', alright?" he promised, holding her trembling body and letting out a sigh. "Even if you're a hob, I still can't forget how you looked when we first met," he told her with a hint of amusement. "The cute little ghoul that bossed me into doing my homework. You'll probably always be like that in my mind," he admitted.

"Iii aam noot that biig!" Amrita insisted stubbornly. She wasn't much bigger in her real form than she was now, honest! Roch's arms were comforting to have around her; it was nice to be held again, even by a friend. As he went down memory lane she couldn't help but laugh, though it sounded more like a choking exhale; rest assured, it was a near-crying attempt as a chuckle. Regardless, the sound itself was rare enough already...but having chuckled twice in one day? Blasphemy!
"Noow Ii am juust a brokeen paatchwoork thaat bossses yoou iinto dooing yoour hoomeworrk." She mused with a grin, leaning into him and trying to calm herself down. The relief was still crushing, but she didn't want to break down in front of him either. "Yoouu wiill aalways bee the boiil whoo streessses me ouut." Amrita teased quietly; Hunting down Roch was becoming a side hobby for her. It was much more fun in real life than those Where's Voldo games.
"Buut a veery good friiend." Her voice was starting to even out, back to the broken dual-tone she started with; it was a slow process but she was getting a grip on her emotions, burying every urge she had to cry, even out of relief.

"I try," Roch said. "You ain't gonna start like likin' me and then dump me, right? Cuz I don't think I can handle that happenin' all the time," he teased, but there was a hint of honesty in his voice that said something like that had happened before.

Bad joke was bad; even worse, it went right over her head.
"Dummp yoou?" Amrita sounded as confused as she no doubt looked, had she the interest in taking her cold face off of Roch's warm chest. "Iii doo liike yoou...whyy woould Iii dummp yoou?" Confused. So very confused. Clearly like meant friend and dump meant like trash; she didn't grasp she true meaning of what he was trying to tease her about. ZOOM right over her head. "...Iii meean unlesss yoou tryy to kill meee...oor becoome a faan oof Huunterss..." With those two exceptions, she'd always consider him her dear friend.

"Like either of those things would happen!" he said, only to start laughing. "Ah, man, I needed that!" he said, pulling back and grinning at her. "Yeah, Amrita, whatever form you wanna be, you, me, and whoever we can haul along, let's go out partyin' for a week, whaddaya say? We'll eat candy and dance all night long! And I SUCK at dancing, by the way, but it's a hell of a lot of fun!"

Roch's laughter made her grin, leaning back when he pulled away and lifting her good hand to paw at her eye with the heel of her palm. Everything was going great until he said the D word. As soon as it left his mouth she froze, her eye widening in a very good impression of a doe caught in the headlights.
"D---d---d---ANCCING?" Her voice went into a higher pitch than anticipated, but it conveyed her terror quite clearly. "I-i-ii-in front of peeople...?!" Bad idea. BAD IDEA!

"Okay, okay, then listening to music!" he said, seeing the horror and backpeddling quickly. "It'll be fun, no matter what we pick to do, I swear!"
