"That's true. It's not an easy decision. Either way you'll be sacrificing something. I can't tell you what to do though." Read the diary and feel bad, or leave it and abandon information.

Mot shook the box a bit, feeling the dull noise of something within. "Oh, the empty album looked used. Maybe it used to have pictures.. but why would they be removed? Something to hide?" The mystery thickened. Why was is so important to hide photos in a family album?

"The box is locked. I'd rather have your permission before unlocking it."

"What is there to hide though? Unless... The photos inside weren't family photos?" Lizzy frowned, chewing on the end of her pipe, "It's a suspicious wooden chest... So, it would be best to unlock it."

Mot nodded, getting out his lock picking gear again. "If it wasn't a family album, then what was it? That's really strange." Mot spoke while picking at the small chest, a click echo'd after a moment.

Inside he found a wooden key, and a small notebook attached. "Now this is promising." Mot said with a grin, opening the note book to find... chicken scratch. "Wow.. this person wrote worse than Hel.."

"Mother would know, but she's not allowed to know that we were snooping around," Lizzy sighed, rubbing her cheeks in mild frustration, "And the key... What is it for? Ohhhh, let me see?" She peered at the book, focusing on the... Scribbles. After some staring, she managed to make out a few numbers and words, but she had a feeling that it would take a long time to read.

"Maybe we should bring all these... To my room?" She suggested, "I'm not sure if we should bring the empty album along though..." It didn't look too important to her, but who knows?

"And we need to put the boxes back in their original positions. Just in case."

Mot let Lizzy take a look at the book, allowing himself time to examine the key. Just what was it for? They hadn't found anything in the attic for it to be used on.

"Sure, let's do that. Let's bring the album anyway. Maybe it has clues?" Mot put the key back in the chest, and left to fix up the mess they'd made. "There isn't anything important in that desk or doll house is there?" It would be a shame to over look possible clues.

"I don't think so...?" Lizzy glanced at the desk and dollhouse after she was done with putting the boxes back in place, "We should probably check them out though. Just in case." She was pretty sure that the dollhouse contained nothing important though, since it was just a toy from her childhood.

... She wondered if the stuff inside were still intact.

"I'll check the dollhouse?" She was already walking towards it, leaving the desk for Mot.

--

The desk was a plain one, with only one drawer, located right under the middle of the desk. It was locked - or jammed, because there wasn't a lock for the drawer... Just that it would not open. There wasn't anything of note at first glance.

"No harm in trying." Mot said with a nod. He let her check the doll house, and headed to the desk.

It didn't take long to find a single drawer. Jammed. Figures. The cowboil wiggled it, used tools to try and pry it open. There just had to be a way. What if a vital clue was here? He had to try. He also had to try not to damage the desk either. All this jimmy-rigging was kicking up dust, making Mot cough a bit.

"The drawer is stuck." He called to Lizzy. "Find anything?"

The doll house was caked in dust, and as Lizzy opened it up, she was flooded with memories from when she was a scareling... Although the dollhouse looked a lot larger to her when she was a lot smaller. Despite the peeling paint, the dirty toy furniture, and the dust, she was glad that she kept it; maybe she could clean it up one day... Pass it to her daughter.

"Stuck?" She echoed, tearing her eyes away to look in Mot's direction, "What do you mean stuck?" As she closed the dollhouse, something fell out from the dollhouse attic; it had been placed under the mini-table. Dusting it off, Lizzy realized that it was a wooden key identical to the one from the wooden chest from earlier.

"Mot! I found something!" She hurried over, holding the object out, "We... Got a pair now?"

"I mean.. stuck." Mot stared back at Lizzy. "I think somethings jamming it. I don't know.. it just won't open."

Mot slid himself around to face Lizzy, looking up at the wooden key she held. "Why would there be two?" Mot sighed. "Well, nothing else to do up here. And this dust is irritating. Shall we sort out what we have elsewhere?"

Regardless, he got to his feet.

"That's weird..." Her brow furrowed as she sighed, looking at what they had with them before nodding; they would solve the mystery of the wooden keys and jammed desk drawer later... After they had shifted through the information in the journals, and try to decipher the scribbles in the small notebook.

"... Can a door that was lockpicked be closed?" She hadn't actually thought of that.

Mot laughed lightly at Lizzy's inquiry, patting her head and heading for the door. "Yes, it can. Lock picking is only a means of unlocking a door with no key. It's the same as if I'd used a key, so we can lock it again without issue."

He opened the door again and let Lizzy out first. "Should we lock it again? Or will we be up here later?"

"Ohhhh, that's a relief to hear!" She broke into a smile, cheeks turning pink at the laugh and the head pat; she should have asked Amrita about how to lock a door after picking it, but it had completely slipped her mind... It was good that Mot knew how to do it, "Let's lock it first? Just in case... And I've been meaning to ask, but why do you know how to pick locks?"

She was actually surprised that Mot know how to do it... Since it wasn't a common skill to have.

Mot looked on the other side of the door knob for a way to lock it from the inside, turned the little dial, and then closed the door once they were both out. He descended down the stairs, scratching his ear as he answered Lizzy's question.

"I snuck out a lot when I lived at home, and I kind of had to learn how to get back inside once Mom caught on. She put bars on my windows, so I ended up having to pick locks and re locking my bedroom door and the front door so she wouldn't catch on."

"... That's some escape," She was caught between feeling even more impressed, or feeling sorry for Mot for even having to 'escape' in the first place. She settled for patting the reaper on his shoulder.

She led the way back to her room, making sure to close and lock the door - just in case - before laying the items out on her bed; she wasn't sure where to start, but the notebook inside the wooden chest seemed like a good place; they'll need to actually... Decipher the terrible handwriting, but they must be a reason why it was locked away!

"Let me-" She removed the notebook from the wooden chest, and as she flipped through the pages, something fluttered out and fell to the floor. It looked like a small piece of paper at first glance, but when she bent over to pick it up, Lizzy realized that she was holding onto a photo. There was her father - looking a little thinner, but smiling as brightly as in his other photos - squatting down beside a young scareling with a nervous smile, his arm slung around the boil's shoulders. Although the color of the photo had faded with age, the boil had black hair that almost touched his shoulders, and dark brown - almost black, it was hard to tell from the faded colors - eyes.

She giggled, holding the photo up for Mot to see, "Aww, this scareling's pretty cute!" Hehe, scarelings, "I wonder why it was inside here though..."

Mot sat down on the bed, looking over their swag with interest. His attention turned as Lizzy coo'd over a photo. "He doesn't look very happy.. who is he?" Did Lizzy know? The kid was with her dad, after all.

"If it was in a locked up journal then it must be important. This kid might mean something to your dad."
