I absolutely adore Dave. And not just because he's some suave coolkid but because he has such a developed character behind those emotionless shades.
As for the trolls my favorite is stuck between Karkat and Kanaya. But to be honest I love all of the homestuck characters. Even the bad ones.

I don't like the alpha kids much either. It might be awhile before I start to like them. Roxy's okay, but only because I like poking fun at her.
Right now I'm really attached to Caliborn and I'm starting to love Vriska even more than I already did. She might be dubbed as a huge b***h, but I love her adventurousness. Besides, I'm a b***h too.

Favorite trolls are probably
Vriska, Feferi (My patron troll), Karkat, Nepeta, Gamzee, and holy s**t TEREZI. (The ******** D4NC3 P4R1Y was HILLARIOUS.)
Favorite kids:
I love all the beta kids, especially Dave and Jade.
My favorite human would be John. He's just so adorably derpy I just want to pinch his cheeks. I'm also beginning to like Dirk, but I'm not definite on it since the alpha kids just appeared recently.
My favorite troll would definitely be Karkat. Hands down. He is so tsundere at times, with his whole "LOOK GUYS I'M A COMPLETE a*****e" personality mixed with moments where he's all soft n' emotional (which are rare, but I always d'aawww so hard when I find them). If he didn't have that sickle, I would have hugged him to bits.
Ohkay, I don't know if anybody agrees with me here, but my all-time favorite character is Gamzee. No matter what he does, or who he kills, I think I'll still love his shenanigans.
I don't know if everybody in this guild has caught up on Homestuck so I'll say it in a "spoiler" thingy below:
Alright, with the new trolls being introduced, I think Mituna is winning my heart over. He's just so sweetly messed up. Also it breaks my heart every time he apologizes.
Gamzee is a lot of peoples favorite. Not really mine, but I love his dorky side. And Mituna is adorable, Cronus has been on my blacklist of characters since their conversationemotion_donotwant

This is a very very very hard question, but I'll say that Dave Strider. I love an awful lot of characters *cough*Sollux, Karkat, John, Jane, Rose, Gamzee*cough* and am quite fond of a few more, but since Dave was the one that first cought my eye I'll say that its him.
Terezi is my fave! I cosplay her all the time. My OTP is Karezi heart

Yes Gamzee is a lunatic, but that is usually why people love him. They love the bad guy characters. Like, my favorite character is Eridan, he is the villain type of character is wants the land dwellers to all die. But, I love him as a character and patron troll.
