The leopard gained speed, closing in on his prey. It was a quick little thing, whatever it was. But he could manage, he knew he could. The leopard pounced, and snagged a little bit of fur out of the creature's tail. It was then that he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder blade, followed by a weight that caused him to collape to the ground. That lioness caught him? He shifted under her pressure and attempted to wiggle himself free. That was a failure... Still, he wouldn't admit defeat, not yet anyways...---------------------------------------- Sahar panted heavily as she ran across the sand, she slipped periodically, her original clumsiness on the substance returning. The leopard was right behind her now, which is why she attempted to make a sharp left turn. Then she heard a thump type sound and turned to see Inia pin Sahar's hunter to the ground. Relief washed over her instantly...

Inia pushed down on the wriggling leopard, one paw digging into the space between his shoulder blades while the other pinned the back of his neck. He had come so close to Sahar. A cold shiver ran through Inia as she thought about what would have happened if she had hesitated just a second longer. "Are you alright, Sahar?" Inia panted, winded from the chase. She kept a wary eye on the leopard underneath her, unsure of what to do. She could kill him, but the lioness was sure that Sahar wouldn't want to see that side of her. Hunting was one thing, but this, even if in self defense, was murder. Inia wasn't even sure she would be able to go through with it. Her teeth bared, she snarled at the leopard, leaning down close to his face. "Leave now, without any trouble, and I'll let you live." Her voice was quiet, as it normally was, but instead of the soft, warm tone it usually carried, Inia's words were now cold and threatening.

He wiggled again but eventually stopped when he relized he wasn't going to escape anytime soon. Then he felt a jolt of more pressure and a cold, possibley icy tone whisper in his ear: "Leave now, without any trouble, and I'll let you live." Clearly this fox-thing was more trouble than it was worth. The lioness ontop of him relieved him of the height of her claws, and allowed him to have a small oppertunity to flee. He accepted that he wasn't going to win this fight; the female was much to strong compare to him right now.------------------------- "I'm fine..." Sahar said between her own panting. That was the first time she got a good look at her attacker. His face was still dripping with blood, and his eyes were what seemed to be a glowing red... How terrifing! He looked even more so in his starvation that was driving him towards insanity. As Sahar continued to pant, she wondered if she'd ever forget about this experience. No, she'd remember it until the day she'd die. Unless, by chance a more terrifing hunter took a nice bite out of her ear, this would be the most horrifing thing that had happened to Sahar yet... She jerked backwards as Inia allowed the leopard to stand. When he left without hesitation she relaxed again. She kept her eyes fixated on the leopard until he was out of sight, then she ran over towards Inia and brushed up against her fur.

Inia growled until the leopard had vanished over the other side of the dune. Still breathing heavily, she finally let herself relax a little bit, ears still pricked and alert in case the leopard came back and tried to do anything tricky. The lioness started slightly when she felt Sahar brush up against her legs. In the time they had been traveling together, it was the first time they had ever had actual fur-on-fur contact. It felt...normal. Inia could barely resist the urge to swoop down and give Sahar a big lick on the top of her head and a good grooming. She didn't think the jackal was quite ready for that yet. But this, this was enough for now. It was comforting to feel the another's touch after what had just happened. The leopard had stirred up painful memories for Inia, and nothing helped her relax more than a cuddle or a even a short nuzzle. Instead, Inia leaned slightly into the touch, careful not to knock Sahar over. "I'm glad you are alright, Sahar." And she was. The lioness couldn't even to begin the guilt she would have felt if the leopard had hurt Sahar because she had freaked out during the fight. "Come now, I'm sure the excitement has worked up your appetite. I have a gazelle a little ways over the dunes." Inia smiled, a warm gesture that reached her violet eyes as well, crinkling the edges. "If we hurry, we can get to it before the buzzards do." There weren't many buzzards that came out at sunset, but Inia knew from experience that a little humour did much to ease the tension after a bad hunt, or in this case, a frightening ordeal.{{OOC: You can close it up, if you want! 8D I've got a really busy week ahead of me, but I'll post in your thread when I'm ready for our next one.}}

Sahar nodded and kept against Inia's fur until she spoke of awaiting food. At that remark she ran towards dunes that her lioness friend guestered towards. Hunger finally found her after fear had finally managed to leave her system. The jackal turned around and looked at Inia who was coming after Sahar at a decent pace. She smiled. Inia was kind, Sahar was glad they met. If she hadn't met Inia, Sahar would probabley be dead by now. Besides from that, she was getting less and less nervious when to came to the issue of touching her new friend. Lions... Cheetahs... They weren't that bad at all. They were friendly, and possible curious of the tiny familiar. Nothing to fear very much... Now leopards, they were something to be wary of. To be very wary of indeed. {{OOC: Okay! }}
