Sylphia arched an eyebrow. "Aren't you relying on mages and such as your last effort attackers? ...Well I suppose now is not the time for such a squable anyway. We must free ourselves of any distrust we hold towards each other if we expect to succeed. Not only that, but we will need more than the vauge idea of going in to kill whatever we come across. It seems we can't know what we will be up against, so lets start by assessing what we have. From there it will be easier to organize ourselves however seems appropriate..."
Sylpha stopped, suddenly realizing what she was doing. Scratching her head she looked around at the mismatched, rundown group. She wasn't much to look at herself. She was probably shorter than most of the people there, and had attempted to cram her fuzzy mess of hair under a hat, but the hat really wasn't large enough to be up for that task. Sighing she shook her head. If she didn't know many of these people, it couldn't be expected that they would know or have any respect for herself.
"Alow me to start again. I am Sylphia Norikae. I was the leader of the Sky Clan when all this started... but I suppose that title means little with the present state of things. I am trained in unarmed combat, and no small amount of the magic associated with the Sky Clan. I propose that we begin by selecting someone to command this attack, as organization will undoubtedly help us achieve our goal. Some nominations and a vote is probably the most we can manage now, and lets try not to argue over this matter to much."

Rupin then stood up. "My name is Rupin." he said "Im..I was an Earth clanner. Im a grappler, so i specialise in unarmed combat like Drittz here, and I also have the power of Elemental Rock. I hope I can be of some help.

Something told Vicatia that she should stay sitting and let Sylphia run the mission. However, her ego and a little bit of good-natured devilishness wouldn't let her. After all, this could get interesting.

"I don't know young man. I rather like democracy, myself." She stood up energetically and rolled her warm gray eyes across the assembled crowd. Then they snapped back towards Alden and she smirked and saluted smartly.

"My name's Vicatia Adair. I'm a GSF squad leader, trained in unarmed combat, spear combat, and," she shrugged and added modestly, "some rough infantry tactics. There's also some..." She paused as she searched for the right word, "Fiddly magics that I know. Making things lighter or heavier than they should be, cut better than they should. Things like that. But I know there are men better made for leading this mission out there." She faltered for a second. "At least, there were." She looked slowly from Alden to Sylphia and back, and glanced around at the others who had risen. "Anyway," she said, all the bounce gone from her voice, "I'm just not sure we should go around assigning leaders and swearing oaths higgledy-piggledy." She waved one hand vaguely in the air as she spoke and in the other held her spear. "It's a fight for our lives, for Gaia's sake, not a crusade. This decision," she turned to face everyone but her eyes were still fixed meaningfully on Alden, "could mean the difference between life and death. I'm for speed as much as any of you, and I don't propose that we spend our last days arguing, but I do propose that we think a little."

She grimaced as a thought occurred to her. She addressed Sylphia. "Not to suggest that you are unqualified, you being a clan leader and all. No no, I just want to promote... caution. For all I know you could be the best leader in the world." She coughed a little nervously and a little voice in her head cackled.

You've just volunteered yourself, you know. She rolled her eyes and thought back at it, Yeah, I know.

Sylphia paused. She hadn't expected arguments about voting, just arguments about the results. It hadn't occurred to her that people might just want to skip voting entirely in the interest of time. She spoke towards Alden, but in a voice that everyone could hear.
"I thank you for your support, however I suggested a vote for very reasons ... Squad Leader Adair has put forward. This is a fight for the fate of Gaia, and I would not want command without the approval of those who intend to fight. The leader will need the full support and commitment of all those present, likely up to a willingness to die for the cause. To ask you, or anyone, to be ready to sacrifice themselves for a leader they had no part in choosing is not going be helpfull. I do not doubt that you mean well by trying to accelerate this process, however this may well be the most important decision we make, since who is chosen as leader will affect almost every aspect of the mission that comes after. We should choose wisely."
Looking again to those gathered she continued. "Choosing wisely, however, does not necessarily mean choosing slowly. If there are any other potential leaders, besides Adair and myself they should step forward now. The faster we begin, the sooner we can get to ending this threat to our very existence."
