'Stay down, stay down', Penwakani begged silently as Rior rose off of Yuuki and appeared to be waiting to see if he could rise up on his own.
"Please, please," she begged less than silently, but squeezed her eyes shut as he did in fact get back to his paws. She could only hope that he would not be injured, even though he was breathing very heavily at the moment.

Rior was actually surprised when Yuuki got back to his paws, but impressed. The attack on his legs was barely more than a scratch, but at least the cheetah wasn't done for yet. Good. He would have been disappointed in the boy if he hadn't been determined enough to get to his paws.
However, he wasn't going to let himself loose just because he liked the boy. He threw himself forward once again, and this time, aimed for the boy's legs, rather than his chest.
He didn't want to kill him after all.

Yuuki was forced backwards by the attack that Rior launched, and he gasped, tumbling to the ground. However, his breathing remained mostly steady and so he was able to rise again quickly, stepping back to avoid any further attack Rior might launch.
He couldn't launch his own attack just yet though. He kept an eye firmly on Rior, waiting.

She tried to rise to her paws, but gasped and fell back to the straw. This wasn't fair! She cried inwardly. Rior was too much larger than Yuuki! Yuuki was tiny! Rior was a hulking lion and was far more trained than Yuuki.
If this didn't stop soon, she honestly feared that Yuuki would die. She whimpered.
"Please."

Yuuki was struggling. Rior frowned. This had to end, and end quickly, else Yuuki would do himself damage in this fight.
He hesitated.
"We can end this now," Rior said calmly, watching the cheetah struggle.

"Not yet," Yuuki gasped back, and threw himself forward, but his vision was blurred and he hit the ground, not Rior.
He stumbled and spun, sluggishly, to face his opponent. He could have sworn he heard Penwakani's voice, asking 'please' but he was too focused on Rior to notice.

Damn Cheetah, Rior thought, almost fondly. However, he could not allow this to continue. It took two strides to reach Yuuki, not as fast as the cheetah had been originally, but still quickly, and he struck out his paw.
He hit the male's legs, sending him to the ground.
"It's over." Rior said bluntly. "Stay down."
He glanced up, seeing the distressed lioness and then glancing back at the cheetah.
"You need to practice more before you take on another lion, or it might be your last battle you fight." Rior shook his head. "Now, I will take you and your missus back to your den, and do not argue, or I will dump you in a river before I take you back."
He bent to toss the tired cheetah onto his back, gently. He could see the relief in the female's face that it was over, and was mildly amused that neither corrected the term 'missus'. Ah, young couples. They were strange. Especially this one.
Well, at least he hadn't killed her potential mate.
