The sound made Heidi cringe and stumble back away from Jordan with an unhappy noise, her teeth clenched and her eyes wide. She felt that all the way up her arms! Not only that but Matilda had shrieked in her head. "Sh-she didn't like that holy crap that was...hnnng.." Unpleasant was right.
"How do I get cleared for barrier daggers again?" Consult Matilda? She blinked, looking down at the bow in her hands. "That's weird...okay, I'll ask her sometime." Heidi continued to step back away from Jordan, her bow raised and an arrow drawn. She followed him in his circle, eyes trained on the senior Hunter. Okay, focus...breathe..
She released the arrow without warning, aiming for Jordan's arm this time instead of just wherever.

"Life's just easier if your weapon's not pissed at you," Jordan said. "Speaking from experience."
The arrow caught his arm squarely, forcing him to step back in response to the impact. He ignored the sharp stab of pain and grinned. "That was good." He saw an opening in her stance, and darted in to return the favor.
"You can qualify for barrier daggers after you've been on a mission and passed five waves of the Moon training course," he explained as he moved back. "It may take a few tries, but it's good to get familiar with the courses anyway."

"Oh. Okay." Guess that made sense...could their weapons turn on them? She didn't want to find out.
The compliment on her shot had Heidi grinning again, pride swelling in her chest. She got a compliment! From a Hunter! Hehe! Yay! She was smiling until he came at her again and she gasped, shoving Jordan away from her with her bow. It wasn't an effective hit but it was something.
"Oh, princess isle? I did that with Marcus! Okay...so now I just need a mission.."

"Finished that one already? That's good. Have you done the other courses?" Jordan let the strike bounce off his arm and turned to follow Heidi's motion, bringing one dagger in to slice a long line along the outer side of her arm.

"Uh, not yet. Can I do the ones for the other divisions? I didn't know if I could." She squeaked and backed off when he hit her arm, rubbing where he'd hit her. Okay, that mark was redder than the others. It also hurt more. Did he just hit her harder? Geeze! The only other person she had sparred had been Tuck, they had called it off when both of their charges had missed because really why bother it had been a miracle they'd hit each other three times to begin with. "Um..should we call it quits?" She doubted Jordan would just let her fire at him without fighting back or something.
