Axel laughed at the blonde a little as he patted him on the back. "Oh don't be so hard in yourself, Roxas. You were only trying to help, the only problem is that you don't realize that some people don't want help. They aren't ready to take the leap of faith it takes to trust another person in their time of need, or at least a total stranger. I mean really looking back on the situation, did you really expect someone who has been treated like an outsider probably his whole life just open his heart up to someone he had never spoken to before that point? I mean you have to admit that you were being a little over zealous. Your heart is too big for this wicked world, Roxy," Axel told his friend as leaned on him to give him a one-armed hug. Roxas really was just way to caring and sweet for his own good... That was why Axel had to protect him.
The redhead retracted back as Roxas started back in the Prom again. Why was this one event so important to Roxas? It wasn't like a person's love life soully depended on what happened that night. In fact, most people ended up regretting what they did at Prom. "Roxas, why does it matter so much to you that I don't want to go to Prom? Prom isn't some mystic love ritual, if I miss out, my life isn't going to be any different. And trust me when I say, no matter where I go, I will not find the girl of my dreams there. No one is perfect or completely compatible person for another. I'm just being realistic about my chances of finding someone decent." Axel told the blonde his honest opinion. The redhead then leaned back more throwing his arms up behind his head.
"Hey where did Demyx go?" He asked as he moved his attention off of Roxas to his surrounding environment. He hadn't even noticed Demyx had ran off, because Roxas had distracted him. His eyes scanned around until they met with the mulleted blonde over by that Zexion kid again. " Well I guess he took my advice," Axel mumbled a little watching the two for a moment. Axel may have been wrong, but he had never seen Demyx that nervous. The goofball was practically falling all over himself.
Zexion had literally just sat down when the blonde ran up to him. He didn't even have time to pull out his book. Of course, he also was still taken back from the their first encounter and Roxas to really know what he wanted to do about the mulleted blonde. He was hoping to get some more time to figure out a plan of action beforehand, but now that was blown out of the water. "No, no, Demyx really you don't have to do that. I-... I haven't had a friend in a very long time and I don't want to hurt you when I leave..." Zexion stated quickly trying his best not to hurt the blonde's feelings this time. Zexion wasn't just scared of being Demyx's friend after having no one for so long, he was scared of when he would have to pick up and move next. He didn't want the blonde to get attached to him. The slate haired male sat there almost defeated as Demyx didn't listen to him and wrote his number on his arm anyway.
The blonde didn't even seemed to take anything Zexion had said into consideration as he continued to ramble on helplessly to him. The blonde really was a mess. "Demyx, Demyx, can you just listen for a second, please? I'm not good at all this, literally the only person I talk to on a regular basis is my mother, and some days, I go the entire day without saying a single word at all. I don't want to hurt you more than I obviously have, so I can't be your friend or acquaintance or prom date or anything like that. I know you like me for whatever reason, but I just need you and everyone else to leave me alone, okay? I am tired of hurting the people I become close to when I pack up and move again... And unfortunely it isn't a matter of if I'll move, it is a matter of when. So please understand that I am not being mean or rejecting you because I don't like you. You seem like a wonderful friend and terrific prom date, but you just can't be mine, because I only will cause you hurt and heartbreak, okay?" Zexion took him as he scooted away from him.
It was a sad fact, but Zexion had literally learned that the only way to keep from hurting others and himself was to just never get close to anyone. If he was a nobody when he left, then nobody would be sad that he was gone. No one would have to lie and say they would keep in touch. No one would have to forget about him, because no one would even realize he was gone. He was an outsider that forcibly try to make sure no one tried to pull him into anything. It was the only way to keep his heart from breaking everytime moved.

"Look, I just... I think you'll have more fun than you think you will if you go, okay? And I'll have more fun if you go. Last year sucked. I mean, yeah, Demyx was there, but he went with that jerk he was dating. Then they broke up just because we danced. And...and, I know I said I really liked dancing with him, but I...I kind of want to see what kind of dancer you are," he told him, face flushing slightly. "I know you're not into being all lovey-dovey, especially with a guy, but I'd like to force you into a dance with me at some point. Congratulations. Now you know my secret plan," he told him, throwing his hands up dramatically with a huff.
Demyx heard every word Zexion said, but he was having none of it. Everyone needed a friend. "Okay, look. I'm not the person to try to convince you should be alone. I don't care if you move or not. You need a friend. You can have friends that are in different countries. That's what Skype and cellphones are for. We can make at least a friendship work. And I want you to at least think about going to prom with me whether it's friends or more. I want you to have fun. With friends. Please think about it? I want you to enjoy the time you do have here, no matter how much time that is," he told him, regaining his confidence.
Demyx's mind wandered back to the fact that Roxas just yelled at the small teen. "Oh, and I'm sorry about Roxas blowing up at you. He's really torn up about it. Usually he can keep control of himself and his anger, but I think something's been bothering him. He's been trying to work up courage to ask Axel to prom, so he's letting that courage go to other things and is blowing them out of proportion. He's really sorry about it," he told him.

Axel frowned a little as he looked back at Roxas. "Sorry to break your heart about this, but I don't dance, Roxas, or at least the way you want me, too. And I don't think it is a good idea for you to have your heart set on it. There is a reason that I am never in a relationship and i would never put you through that, because I actually value your friendship. So please just drop this okay? I don't want you to end up hurt." Axel told the blonde as he seemed to retreat back more. He knew that most people thought the "I value our friendship too much" line was garbage, but in this instance, it was the truth. Axel enjoyed the blonde as a friend, but he knew that as a boyfriend, Axel wouldn't treat him the way he deserved to be treated.
Roxas deserved to have someone who would slow dance with him and be romantic with him. Axel was not that kind of guy, and he wasn't ever going to be. If he did, then he would just be changing himself to please Roxas, and the redhead knew that Roxas didn't want that either. Axel, in all honesty, was a dirtbag when it came to relationship. It was why he had stuck to one night stands, or forget me weekends. If he could get over his addict to sex, he probably wouldn't even have those. Too often people tried to get attached to him and want to date him after sex.
Maybe one day, Axel would want to settle down and commit, but it wasn't any time soon.
Zexion frowned as Demyx didn't seem to want to ever give up. "Well if you aren't going to give up on me, can you at least give me some time. I haven't opened myself up to another person in a really long time, and I don't know if I am ready to. And I don't want to go to prom with you. You are so nice and outgoing, you could probably go with people a lot better than me, and I don't want you to waste your time on me. You should be with someone that you are going to want to remember and I am not the kind of person people want to remember, so please stop pushing me. I don't want you to try and make me into something I am just not. I have tried being outgoing and friendly, it just wasn't suited for me." Zexion told the blonde as he started to push him out of his inner circle mentally.
Zexion couldn't trust what Demyx was saying, he could only trust what he knew and he knew it never worked out after he moved. He couldn't let Demyx or himself become hurt, because he was selfish. "It's okay, I could tell that his anger was miss directed. I just don't like when people pity me like he did. Most people don't understand, but I like being by myself and reading. Yeah, sometimes I get lonely, but I don't need a lot of company to keep me happy. I don't think he meant to, but he treated me like some lost puppy." Zexion spoke back as he shifted a little to put more distance between them. He didn't feel comfortable that close to Demyx, but he had gone through a lot today. It was making him more skidish than usual.

"Fine. Fine, I just won't go either, then," Roxas huffed stubbornly. "You're stupid and stubborn and you need to just try something before you shoot it down. You're so infuriating," he told him, face in a deep frown. Why couldn't Axel just listen to him sometimes? It was Senior year. He knew Axel wanted to move away as soon as he could. He was too big for this place. He needs to move to a city where he could meet...new people. And forget about his friends here. Forget about Roxas.
Roxas felt himself begin to tear up as he thought about it. Quickly, he grabbed his bag and stood. "I've. ..gotta pee before class," he mumbled out and turned away just as tears began to roll down his cheeks. He rushed off inside to avoid any questions from the redhead.
Demyx gave him a small smile. "Zexion... There's a reason I only have three friends. I've pissed off or annoyed anyone else I've come across, including my family. Trust me when I say I remember anyone who wants to be my friend. And I want to be there for you. We know basically nothing about each other except how awkward we both are, but I really do. You dont have to take the offer, just consider it, okay? And I want you to enjoy yourself. Everyone deserves to be happy. If you honestly think you'd have a better time sitting at home reading than you will at prom possibly dancing and/or acting crazy with me and my friends by time prom comes, then by all means sit at home and read. But...You're right. I'll give you some space. I'm a little crazy, I know. When you wanna talk again, just text me or something. Or come sit with us at lunch or break or whatever, alright?" He told him with a smile.
The blond hopped up and walked over to his now-alone redheaded friend. "Hey, Ax... What's wrong? Where's Roxas?" He asked, a frown spreading on his face. He didn't like this.

"Roxas, do you even hear yourself, right now? I only seem stubborn, because you won't drop this. I have been down this road with others and it doesn't end like bloody Cinderella." Axel argued back as he frustratedly ran his hand through his hair. Why did Roxas suddenly decide this was so important? He barely when to any school function the whole year, and honestly Axel felt he was way more open to new things than Roxas. But prom wasn't new. Prom was some boring arcane ritual that really Axel felt was past it's expiration date. Why couldn't the blonde see that?
Axel gave a wave as Roxas tucked tail and ran. "Yeah, okay, whatever, see you later I guess," Axel mumbled more to himself seeing as Roxas left in a pretty big hurry. Axel sat there in silence as he just watched the ants move on the pavement slowly, but diligently until Demyx came back. "Nothing, Roxas forgot to take his midol this morning and took it out me, so we got into a spat, but it is whatever. He isn't going to try and change me a flipping week before prom, and certainly not in the last month before graduation." Axel stated with a huff of air. Roxas was being such a child about this. How did he even expect Axel to have a good time somewhere he didn't want to be?
Zexion glanced over at the blonde as he started talking about own having three friends. Who wouldn't want to be Demyx's friend? He seemed so caring and eccentric... Zexion just didn't understand. As Demyx gave him the offer, the slate haired male looked back down at his hand with the number. Could Zexion really just this once take that leap of faith with another person? As he sat there and thought, he barely noticed the bell ring outside this thoughts. If people didn't start herding inside, he may have waved it off as not there.
He slowly grabbed his stuff and headed inside, too, but he almost couldn't stop himself as he pulled out his phone and sent Demyx a simple text. "I think I can do lunch." Was all it said, but it meant a lot to Zexion, because it meant that he was reaching to other person for the first time in years. He was expressing his want to be with another person rather than just be by himself. Which was a bigger step than even the short male understood at the moment. Zexion then hurried inside so that he wouldn't be late for AP physics

Demyx grinned as he glanced at his phone after sitting down in his desk beside Axel's. He squealed slightly and leaned over to him, whispering excitedly, "He's gonna come sit with us at lunch! He said he doesn't like getting close to people, but he's gonna sit with us! I'm so excited! I changed his mind about it! Me!" The blond was practically vibrating in his seat as he leaned back in his chair and put his phone away.
Lunch came quickly, Roxas being the first in the cafeteria as his class was closest to it. He got his food and refused to make eye contact with Axel as he passed him by and slammed his tray down on their table. Demyx blinked as he walked by him, feeling the anger pouring from him. He paused in the process of walking to the food line then decided to go ahead and get it first.
Roxas ignored Axel's presence as the redhead as down and instead shoved a formula of mashed potatoes in his mouth. "Hey, guys!" Deny said chirping as he finally sat down and glanced around, searching for Zexion. "Foxy, have you seen Zexion? He doesnt like making friends, but I got him to change his mind and come sit with us at lunch!" He said happily, keeping his eyes on Roxas to gauge his reaction.
The smaller blond looked up at D emyx and gave him a small smile. "Oh, cool. At least someone can decide to do something for the sake of someone else even if they think they won't have a good time," he said calmly.
Oh. Now Demyx got it. This was about Axel going to prom. The blonds spoke frequentlyabout the crush Roxas had on Axel and how stubborn and stupid he could be over the phone. That's what happened this morning and at break.
"Yeah! He should be in here soon. I wonder if he'll see us..," he trailed off, the table growing smile again. He hated when those two fought. Everything always got so tense and awkward.

Axel glanced over at Demyx as he got overly excited after looking at his phone. "...you know, this kid is going to find your enthusiasm creepy, if you keep this up. Normally guys aren't suppose to get this excited about a text from a guy, and girls usually grow out of it by the time they are a junior." Axel commented with a lack-luster sarcasm. Fighting with Roxas really seemed to wear him out. Hopefully the nap he would take in this class would prepare him for the hell he was also most likely going to endure at lunch.
As much as he wanted Roxas to drop this, he had a terrible feeling the blonde wasn't going to give up until Prom was long gone, and even then he will just be whining about how Axel ruined Prom for everyone by skipping it. It really was a stupid fight to be squabbling over, but Axel just could not get Roxas to see reason about this. Why would anyone want to force someone to go to Prom anyway? If Axel didn't want to be there, he wasn't going to have a good time, and then Roxas will just be more upset. There really was no way of making the blonde completely happy... ever.
Lunch came, and Axel found himself dragging his feet the entire way there while Demyx was prancing forward at speeds of almost running. Of course, he didn't want to leave the redhead behind though, so the blonde had dragged Axel there slowly but surely. Then like Axel predicted, he looked over to Roxas sitting down at their normal table, only to see the blonde slam his tray down and pout like a four-year old. This was going to be a very long twenty minutes it seemed.
Axel got his food mechanically and then sat down at the table across from Roxas and next to Demyx. He wanted to ask if Roxas was going to throw a tantrum for the rest of the week, but he figured the blonde would only become more of a pain, if Axel tried to joke with him at this point. At least Demyx seemed to be bouncing off the walls. Axel always felt really bad for Demyx when Roxas and him got into arguments, because he was the one that always had to play referee, therapist, and occasionally doctor.
"Oh, that is it, Roxas why don't you just get off your damn high horse and think about someone else for a change, I do not want to go to Prom and that is my complete right to do so if I want. So stop crying and pouting and doing all of this other baby bullshit that you do, and give up, because I am not going to Prom and I am sure as hell not going to sit here and let you look at me with your f-ing condescending eyes. Not everything is about you for Christ's sake." Axel snapped before standing up out of his seat.
"Demyx, have fun with emo kid or whatever, I'm leaving." He grumbled before he stormed out of the cafeteria. Normally when he got mad, he didn't go straight to skipping, but he knew he was too worked up to sit in a classroom. Therefore, he head straight for his car in hopes that a nice drive could salvage this awful day.
Zexion, who has spotted the group from the lunch line, had unfortunately walked up behind Demyx right after Axel started in on the short blonde. "...Is this a bad time...? I mean.. I can go away..." He asked quietly after a few second of Axel storming off. There was an awkward silence growing, and Zexion didn't want to make it worse. He really wasn't the best of people in violent arguments like that. He was more of a talk-it-out kind of person.

As soon as Axel raised his voice, Roxas looked up at him with pained eyes. When the redhead stormed away, he shoved his tray away and dropped his head into his folded arms, letting out a soft sob.
Demyx frowned when Axel stormed away, then reached over and rubbed Roxas's back comfortingly. He looked up at Zexion with a smile. "Hey! No, it's fine! Just a little bit of drama. Sit and be merry!" He told him, patting the seat beside him.
"You see, Roxas here has had a crush on Axel for god knows how long, and wants to go to prom with him, but Axel's stubborn and doesn't want to go--" "He's gonna move away after graduation, and I'm never gonna see him again!" Roxas suddenly sobbed, looking up at Zexion, face clearly full of pain and frustration and sorrow. His chin quivered and he buried his face in his arms again as he cried.
Demyx smiled a little weakly at Zexion, giving him an apologetic shrug as he continued to rub Roxas's back.

Zexion seemed to just stared wide-eyed at the situation. He didn't understand the dynamics, because he didn't know them. He didn't know anyone... Zexion quietly sat down on the other side of Demyx from Roxas. The blonde looked so upset by the redhead's outburst, but the redhead seemed to be at his boiling point as well. Zexion looked onto the aftermath of the redhead with curiosity. He wanted to understand.
He knew that it wasn't the kind of situation he should smile at, but it was hard hearing Demyx open up to him. He barely knew Demyx and vice versa, but the blonde still let him into the delicate situation. As Roxas looked up at him and confessed, Zexion couldn't stop himself. "Have you told him about how you feel? Or did you just assume that because he doesn't want to go to prom, he doesn't want to be with you." Zexion asked the blonde quietly. He glanced over at the door before looking back at the blonde. If he hurried, he could probably catch up with the redhead.
Zexion knew a thing or two about moving away, and he really wished that he had someone that would miss him like this blonde seemed to miss Axel... And what was really ironic was that the redhead hadn't even left yet. As Zexion pondered the situation, he wondered if the redhead would even move if he knew how much Roxas would miss him.

Roxas slowly looked up at Zexion with tear tracks running down his cheeks. "It's obvious I like him if I asked him to prom, right? I told him I want to dance with him and...and have fun with him. He should know how I feel! And he doesn't care!" He argued, looking somewhat lost. He didn't know what to do. Axel knew Roxas was bad at sharing deep emotions like he had for the redhead, so he obviously didn't return the feelings.
"Roxas, silly! Axel's dense! You know he is!" Demyx laughed lightly. Roxas frowned up at him, thinking about Demyx's words. "Just go talk to him, you big idiot. You don't want him pissed at you for the rest of forever, now do you?" Demyx grinned encouragingly at the smaller blond. Roxas startled at those words. He couldn't have Axel mad at him. Then he would definitely forget about him. Hurriedly, the blond shot off of his stool and away from the table.
Demyx grinned over at Zexion. "Welcome to lunch at the outcast table! Where every day is an adventure!" He shouted happily, throwing his hands up in the air dramatically. He then dropped them back down and began shoveling food in his mouth. "They'll work it all out. They always do," he told Zexion with a little wink and a nudge. "Roxas is just going to have to be patient. Just like me and you! Except less anger!" He said with a hearty laugh.
Roxas booked it out of the cafeteria and into the courtyard, where he found Axel trudging his way to their usual tree. He watched his sit down and run his hands down his face before quietly approaching him. He sat down beside him, about a foot away and fidgetted around for a moment. He took a deep breath and gulped down his uncertainty then said quietly, "I'm sorry for bugging you about prom. It's immature and stupid of me, and I won't say anything about it anymore." He t widdled his fingers for a moment, then added, "Just...promise me you won't forget about me when you're gone." He said it in a quiet, wavering voice as his eyes began to well up with tears again. "Because...I know this place isn't big enough for you, and you want to go someplace like New York or...or Chicago or something...maybe even a different country... I just..." he began to choke on his words. "I know...You're gonna meet new people and forget all about this place...me included, and...and you're really special to me, and...and I just want to make as many memories as I can with you before you're gone so I have something to think back on and be happy about years down the road when you don't even think abiut me anymore," he finished with a soft sob, hitching his shaking shoulders as he began to cry once more.

Zexion looked over at Demyx after Roxas ran out of the cafeteria. "Ha, I really hope this isn't a typical day at this table, I'll have nothing exciting to add to it." Zexion told the blonde softly before he started in on his own food. "Well, I'm glad that they will work out, they both seem to need something to work out. They both seem to make loud outbursts though, so hopefully they work out to be calmer... Man I would hate to see them if they lived together. They would probably make the worse neighbors." He mumbled just thinking out loud to Demyx. He didn't really know how to keep friends now-a-days, but he figured speaking his mind would be the best thing to try.
Axel, after leaving the caferteria, sincerely meant to go get into his car and drive away, but after storming off, he cooled down. Once he could think more clear, he realized that he wouldn't graduate if he skipped one more time. He knew that he could never forgive himself, if he let attentence keep him from graduating, so he just found a lowly place to sulk in the courtyard. Aggravated about the blonde's stubbornness, Axel plopped down under a tree next their regular spot and hid his face in his hands. He really did need to work on his anger management issues. He really could see himself strangling the blonde when he got like this.
Axel loved the blonde as a friend, and he wanted to love him like a lover, but he just stand the way that Roxas talked to him. Everything Axel did or decided, it felt like Roxas challenged it just to get under his skin. Ironically, Axel could blow off almost any other person other than Roxas. He was too close to the blonde to just ignore him... But lately he couldn't be around him for more than five minutes before Roxas started in on him about something.
As he heard another person walk up and sit down, he didn't even look up from his palms. He was really hoping it was Demyx and that Demyx would take the hint and left him alone right now. He wasn't exactly in the best of moods. As Roxas spoke up, he had to forcibly stop himself from groaning. The redhead had stormed out of the lunch room, because he didn't want to argue with Roxas anymore... But apparently the blonde just couldn't give him the pleasure of being alone. As Roxas continued though, Axel looked up. He was agreeing with him? It also sounded like the blonde was really upset. Axel just sat there listening as he stared at Roxas confessing all these feelings. He had idea the blonde thought that Axel was going to run off and forget about him.
When Roxas was finished saying what he had to say, Axel slowly moved over to the blonde. "Look at me Roxas, I promise you that no matter where I go or who I met, I will always remember you, I know we fight a lot and I can be a jerk and a hot head, but I still really care about you. I'm so sorry if I ever convinced you otherwise," Axel told the blonde softly as he wiped the other's tears away. After a second of staring into the other's face so close, he cautiously leaned down and kiss the blonde on the lips. "Roxas, I'm sorry that I can't be what you want me to be," he whispered as he pulled back and scooted back. He knew that what he just did was mixed feelings central, but Roxas just looked so hurt and Axel really did have feelings for the blonde. They just weren't the same feelings Roxas had.

Demyx laughed at Zexion's words. "Oh, man. I swear, when they both come over to hang out, it's like World War III breaks out in my house. It's gotten to a point where my mom won't let them come over at the same time anymore, and if they do we have to go somewhere else," he told Zexion, beginning to fill his bottomless pit up with the food off of Roxas's tray now. He always ate way more than it looked like his body could handle.
"Why don't I believe you?" Roxas whispered after the short kiss. "Why don't I believe that I'll be remembered?" He was genuinely defeated, needing to know the answer to that question. He didn't understand why he didn't believe Axel's words. As far as he knew, Axel had never lied to him before. So why the doubt? Why the questions flying around his head? "And why can't we be like I want? Because of all the 'sweetheart' s**t I talk about all the time?" He asked, getting a little frustrated. "Because you won't be 'good' at it? For one, I don't need that, I'd just like to have it. And two, you haven't even tried, so you don't even know. That kiss? That kiss is all I need," he ended softly, looking up into his eyes.
"But...I'm done arguing. I'm ******** sick of arguing with you, whether it's my fault or yours... I just want to spend as much time with you as possible before you leave us all behind," he told him then leaned forward and threw his arms around him in a tight hug. He held onto him tightly for a few seconds then pulled back and wiped his face off with his hands. "No more fighting. I don't want to end the year on a bad note. Agreed?" He , holding his hand out with a small smile.

Zexion laughed a little at Demyx as he stole the blonde's food and soon after, the redhead's leftover food, too. "Man, you sure can eat... Hmm, Does that mean you would be interested in knowing that I can cook? I'm not brilliant at it, but my mother is a fantastic cook, and she taught me quite a few of her tricks. I know I'm not the best, but I can sure beat the school food any day of the week..." He replied with a soft smile. He paused for a moment before saying what he was going to next. "... Maybe, if we get the chance, I can cook for you sometime... If you want, of course, I would never force you to eat my cooking, if you didn't want to." Zexion stated with a bit hesistation. He wasn't sure if he was being too forward with making the offer to the spunky blonde. He didn't want the blonde confused or uncomfortable with his offer. He still didn't think that the blonde should go with him to Prom or anything like that, but he felt like he was pushing for something more, because he couldn't stop himself.
Axel frowned as Roxas seemed to just get mad at his offer of peace. "Roxas, can't you see that the fact you don't believe me is because you don't have faith in me. I am being completely genuine, but it still isn't enough. We can't be together like you want, because I don't want this, okay? I know I will hurt you, and I won't be able to forgive myself for that. You just don't want to trust my judgement on that. You want to believe it will end up in some fairy tale ending, but it won't. I will break your heart more than I already probably have and then I will be gone." Axel spoke up softly, feeling like a weight was lifting off him from finally getting this all off of his chest. "These feelings you are having aren't a bad thing for you to have, I can feel the chemistry we have too, i just know the trouble it brings by pursuing them." Axel stated after another moment feeling his eyes burn a little with the threat of tears.
When the blonde offered the treaty of peace after a moment of silence, Axel gladly took it. The redhead hugged the other tightly feeling like everything really was going to be okay after this. They weren't going to have knock down brawls anymore, they were going to actually be friends. They were going to have a fantastic month and a half of school together, and it made Axel happier than he had been in a while. "Definitely, I'm glad we talk all this out finally, I really hated all this tension we had between us," Axel told his short blonde best friend as he shook his hand. "Oh hey, why don't you come over after school and we can hang out and play video games like we used to?" Axel said excitedly as he stood up and offer a hand to Roxas. He finally had this friend back.

Demyx's lit up in curiosity as Zexion revealed that he could cook. Did this mean that he was offering to cook for Demyx some time in the future? That meant he wanted to hang out and stuff, right? Just before the blond blurted out that Zexion should cook for him sometime soon, the blue-haired male made the offer. Demyx quickly swallowed his mouthful of food and grinned at the teen. "That'd be awesome! I'd love a homemade meal!" the blond said happily, eyes dancing with glee as he looked into the other's eyes. "I love food, and making friends, so this is perfect!" he added excitedly, bouncing a little in his seat, trying to restrain himself from smothering the male with a hug.
Roxas tried to ignore the words Axel was saying, because he knew it was just going to make him upset again. They were both so deadset in their ways, unfortunately they thought the complete opposite of each other. He just relished the hug that happened between them and let go, listening to Axel talk happily about them hanging out. "Yeah, I hated it, too," he admitted and took Axel's hand and the offer to help him stand. He soon after dropped it and shoved his hands in his pockets as they talked. "That'd be cool. I don't have to work today, but I need to go home and water the plants and feed the cat and stuff first, but I'll be over after I finish my list of chores and stuff," he told the redhead, not thinking about his words at all.
The blond had never really done much around the house before, hiding out in his room and talking to Axel all the time or hanging out with him, but when Roxas realized how he felt about his friend and also that the redhead could never feel the same way, he spoke to his friend less and obviously didn't hang out with him outside of school unless Demyx was there, too, becuase he knew he would fight with the redhead. Instead, he filled his alonetime after school with starting up a garden that he could take care of and slowly picked up more and more to do around the house to occupy himself until he was dead-tired, not allowing himself to think before falling asleep.
The weekends were the worst for him, because he could never occupy himself enough. He would mow the grass and take the cat on a walk for hours or practice on the keyboard his dad bought him months before he moved to another state and married some woman the blond teen had never met. That was at the beginning of the school year that it happened, his dad left his mother and moved away. Just picked up and left Roxas and his mother in the house. But Roxas had stayed quiet about it, not wanting to upset his friends. So he had picked up some errands that his mom usually did on the weekends, like grocery shopping for the week. The the blond still couldn't occupy himself enough and picked up a part-time job at a sports bar waiting tables. He hadn't even realized how busy he had gotten himself. He hadn't broken down yet, but he probably would soon. He didn't know it, but his stress had began to break his body down. However, he forced himself on, not knowing the damage he was causing to himself. Not to mention the slight drinking habit he had picked up when his mom wasn't home and he couldn't occupy himself any longer.
A bell rang shrill in his ears right after he finished talking, and he looked around at the people rushing back to their classes. "Ah, class time again. I'll see you after school, alright?" he told him with a brief smile then heaved his bag up on his shoulder and headed off to his AP Chemistry class, his last class of the day. He had fourth block free, which he deeply regretted since all of the drama started. That was an extra two hours he didn't know what to do with, other than homework.

Zexion smiled at the blonde. There was something exciting about the way that the blonde talked and looked at him. He actually found himself feeling pretty childish. He wasn’t in junior high anymore. He knew that it wasn’t natural for him to get giddy over the way another person spoke to him…. Well as giddy as a person like Zexion could get. As the blonde bounced in his seat, Zexion let out a soft chuckle. Demyx was that kind of person who was free-minded and loveable like a small child. It was refreshing for a person like Zexion, who had long ago given up his childhood and accepted the fact that he couldn’t have friends. Zexion almost didn’t want to admit it this soon, but Demyx gave him hope.
“Ha, yeah, well I am glad you are excited, I mean I don’t really think there is anything else exciting about me.” Zexion stated softly. He was reaching out to the other, because he wanted the friendship. Zexion was tired of being hardened and alone. He wanted to have this companionship, wherever it took him. Zexion opened his mouth to ask if Demyx wanted to come over sometime soon, but the bell rang before he could even open his mouth up fully. Yes, he could have continued to speak after the bell, but now everyone was moving and the room quickly filled with noise. “I have to get to class, I hope you have a great afternoon, if I don’t get to see you again, okay?” Zexion offered as he stood up. It was hard being brave when all you have been taught is how to run away.
Zexion, resolved by his decision to let the bell win out again, stood up and moved to put his tray up. He hadn’t really thought about it until he started towards his class, but this was the first time all year that he had stayed in the cafeteria the entire time it was offered to him. Normally, he had no one to talk to or socialize with, so he would finished his lunch rather quickly then be off to class early. As he strolled down the hallway, he couldn’t help but to smile to himself and laugh. His teacher would probably be worried about him, because he was coming in at the same time as all the other kids.
Axel smiled at Roxas as talked back to him. This feud really was over. This wasn’t a temporary fix. They had finally settled all the frustration and discontent they had been carrying around with each other. As Axel stood there listening to Roxas, he didn’t catch it at first. He was so excited about having the blonde come over, that he didn’t even realize that Roxas was saying that he had gotten a job. It was actually after the bell and after the blonde had walked away that Axel realized what he had said. Roxas had gotten a job? How did Axel not know about this? Sure, things had been rough between the two, but Demyx would have told him if he knew that Roxas had gotten a job.
Most people would applause their friend for getting a job, but Axel knew that Roxas wasn’t the kind of person that needed a lot of money. He had no reason to get a job… or least to Axel’s knowledge, Roxas didn’t need a job. With both of Roxas’s parents, Roxas was well into the middle class, and normally, he even got an allowance for doing the most basic stuff around the house. If his parents could give him money, why did the blonde need the job? Axel stood there bewildered for a moment as he watched Roxas disappear. What had happen to his friend since they had grown apart?
Everyone changes eventually. Even Axel would have to say that he had changed in the past couple of months. He had started to secretly hook-up more, but other than that, Axel would have to say he was the same person, but this with Roxas. There was something off-putting about it. Axel thought hard about it the entire time he walked to class, and then even throughout the rest of the day. Was Axel so wrapped up in his own crap that he missed his own friend crying out to him in distress? Maybe that was the real reason, Roxas was fighting with him so much before. It wasn’t really because Axel wouldn’t date him, it was because Axel was letting one of his best friends drown.
The end of school came quicker than Axel had even hoped for since he spent most of his classes pondering about his blonde friend. As soon as he got out of fourth block, he quickly looked for the blonde, but he was nowhere to be found. Of course, it was after fifteen minutes of searching that he remembered that Roxas had fourth block off and realized the blonde probably went home early. With more of a resolve to see the blonde than ever before, Axel climbed into the car and drove home. He was almost proud of himself since he made it home in one piece although he broke a good number of traffic laws.
As he sat there in his living room waiting for the blonde to show, Axel was starting to grow antsy with worry. He wanted Roxas to come over as quick as possible, so Axel could figure out what was going on with his friend. Even though they had been fighting, Axel really did deeply care for the blonde. He really hoped that the blonde didn’t get into any financial problem while Axel was estranged from him.
