"Fine, alright, alright! Fifty-fifty. But you're so not sharing my lime light," Themiscyra pouted, smothering her laughter long enough to make a disgruntled face at this 'arrangement.' How long had it been since she'd really laughed like this though? About powered things? Never, far as she was aware. Sure things had yet to be really grim and horrible for her, but this was the first time she felt she could just goof around and... well. Have fun with someone else in the same shoes.
The fact it was a guy with pretty blue eyes certainly didn't dampen her spirits in the slightest.
Her pouting didn't last long, though her lips twitched to the side, smug and amused, when he caught her hand. On reflex, she'd grabbed his back. To keep him from falling over. That's all. But she wasn't especially quick to withdraw her hand. Did, of course. Only after being sure he wasn't going to fall back over. Right.
Themiscyra's eyes rolled skyward. It'd be interesting if there were a unit of Galactic Police. Especially if they could file complaints. "If they let us whine about our weapons, sure they'd listen to issues with outfits. But..." She paused, letting her eyes fall back to his attire. There wasn't an ounce of shame in her as she very openly checked out how the powered uniform sat on his form. "You don't have much reason to complain. You wear the Jedi look rather well," she finished, glancing back up to Ashur with a smirk. Along with a wink. "And that's coming from a fashion design student."
There wasn't harm talking about her non-Martian life. Right? It didn't feel wrong. He looked like he was around her age. Maybe he went to DCU..? This train of thought didn't leave her, even as they moved on in their topics, and she was trying to not talk about past life stuff. He didn't jump on her pause to her relief. Went for the jab instead. Opened up more of her thought process when he mentioned texting her... One of her canines bit into her lower lip, still smiling as she eyed him. "You'd need my number for that, since you don't have a ring yet to just... write me." She waggled her fingers in the air to draw notice back to her ring.
Of course, she huffed, pausing over his own question about what her weapon could become. "Nothing as cool as a lightsaber." She fingered one dangling gem, letting her mind roll the idea around. "Never thought about it, to be honest," she admited sheepishly after a moment, shrugging as she glanced at him. "Hopefully not just a more decorative one."
For Themiscyra, the focus was on her wonder, learning what she could of the world around her... and, of course, enjoying her super status. Trying to figure out where her path would go... that was just needless stress. Stress she wasn't willing to dwell on now. Pushed a smile to her face, and focused instead on the more fun topic. Combat. Pride puffed up her chest and lowered her lids a little, especially after hearing he didn't have much of a background himself. "One more point for me. I've played hockey, gotten into some... stuff." She laughed to the last part. Most of her altercations were silly. Either on the ice, or off when her mouth got her more trouble than it was worth. She'd broken bones before. Nothing major... but she wasn't a stranger to a cast or bandages. "Still want to see if someone can give me lessons or something in more serious stuff. Just to be on the safe side, y'know?" He wasn't the only Page after all. They were both new to all this.

Ash paused, narrowing his eyes and putting on a face as though he was seriously considering her offer, and in the end conceding with a nod. ”Yeah, sounds fair,” he said, blue eyes catching the amusement in her expression despite the pout. He’d had little to laugh about concerning all this powered stuff, so this was definitely some kind of reprieve from all the pent up frustrations.
He appreciated the help with keeping his balance but didn’t really notice how long they were actually holding hands like that. She let go eventually, of course, and Ash fixed himself into a position that was a bit less susceptible to falling when being shoved, lessening the distance between them was in the process. No big, far as he was concerned. He just wanted his stability, you know?
At her compliments he looked down again, a curious brow raised in doubt. Even that smile and wink didn’t do much to persuade him otherwise, though again some voice in the back of his mind subconsciously noted such a look to be among those that he wouldn’t mind seeing again. ”Well, guess I’ll see if I have much more to complain about later on,” came his words some moments later, still obviously not quite so happy with his outfit.
Though all that was momentarily forgotten, when she mentioned phone numbers. Right. He said he’d text, right? Obviously a number was required for that, and he didn’t have hers. It wasn’t any sort of attempt to actually ask for her number -- he didn’t think they’d be going into any civilian details, but...well. What harm could it do if they knew each other as regular civilians, anyway? He watched her, an amused expression playing at his features, though his eyes briefly went to the ring she sported when she brought it back into the spotlight for a second. ”Right, well,” was all he said -- the hell with that smile?! -- wondering for a second if it’d be alright if he powered down right then to grab his phone. For her number, obviously, and not to take a picture. ”’Til I find this ring so I can write you proper, texting seems a lot easier than waiting for you to come save me from another ledge.”
And soon his thoughts were back to their current discontentment with their particular weapons and, for him, his uniform. She seemed to feel the same way with her weapon, and again Ash couldn’t help but take a shot at that earring, grinning. ”Maybe you’ll get a second one to match?” he laughed lightly, bracing himself in case she decided she wanted to punch him or something again. ”Or it’ll get bigger, maybe start showing signs of chandelier-ship?”
His laughter carried for a bit, and when the conversation was back to his apparent list of things to do for his knighthood it eventually died down. The page wasn’t all that upset that she managed to one-up him in that department -- odd perhaps, since he was a guy and all, but he figured there was no way he’d win ‘em all. Especially since she’d been exposed to more as a knight than him in the first place.
At mention of possibly finding someone to teach, though, his eyes widened from their naturally squinty state. ”Teacher?” he asked, completely understanding why they’d need some kind of instructor since they were still pretty new to the whole scene. ”Like another knight or…?”

Ashur was undoubtedly someone she'd be trying to drag into some legitimate shenanigans and schemes. At the very least to laugh her a** off about something or other. He was... fun. Not so humbug serious about things, even when realistically they both probably should have been. But they didn't have to be serious about civilian stuff. Not remotely. They could goof off and laugh as much as possible and no one could say it wasn't justified.
Which was why Themiscyra just kept grinning and telling herself it was totally acceptable what she was about to do. She'd listening to Valhalla. She'd started tucking away folded bits of paper and a pen into the stiff leather backing of one of her sandals. No, it wasn't the smartest way to go, but if she really needed to get someone a message, well... it'd work in a pinch. Pausing to pull a slip and the pen from their less than ideal location, she cast Ashur a quick look. "Here's a reason to like your outfit more: more places to stash things. I'm kinda... limited right now. Till I figure out an alternative that doesn't involve bulky bags or I'm sure pockets won't... vanish for good each time I power down." She had things to test, theories to concoct. So for now, this was the easiest solution she could figure. For now....
Though investing in a bag she could slip onto her belt each time was highly tempting, provided she had the luxury to transform at her apartment each time...
Back to the present, she scrawled the digits to the paper. After a moment's pause, she wrote her first name across the top. Folded the paper, shoved the pen back to her shoe, and held out the scrap to Ashur with a smile worlds more confident than she felt inside. "Danika," she whispered, wondering if there was something in the magic that would allow him to just... know it was her then when she spoke to him on the phone. How did that all work..? "I know we just met, and this is probably crazy, but call or text me for... whatever." She paused. Blinked. Wait... "....did I just semi-quote Call me Maybe?" For a moment, Themiscyra just stared blankly towards Ashur. Before laughing to the point she was almost doubled-over where she knelt.
As if they needed to get even closer....
Ashur didn't help her. Remotely. She never should have shown him her weapon. "You with the chopsticks has no right to say this crap!" She was laughing. He was likely lucky for that fact. Instead of a punch however, the Page scooted back onto her a**, leaning back on her hands, freeing a leg to kick him instead. Unfortunately for him, her sandals came with heels. "You better hope I don't get a second one. I'll use it on you," she threatened with a snicker. Did he already have pierced ears? Some guys did. She couldn't tell from there.
"If I get a chandelier-ship I'm throwing it at your head. May you be cursed with pieces of crystal forever sticking into your flesh and making you look fabulous."
Even in their more serious moments, Themiscyra didn't find much of a need to force a smile for him. She just... could. Genuine and natural. Even if he didn't seem as especially enthusiastic about the serious topics as he'd been for the jokes. But she seemed to snag him a bit when she confessed to needing to find someone to teach her. Her teeth flashed under painted lips, nodding. "Probably another knight. Unless there's a senshi around who could give me some good pointers for how to fight. Either way, they're bound to have a way better concept of what we're going up against. I've fought youma, yeah... but I donno. I'm missing a huge chunk, I know it. I just want to know what, and how to fight it." Simmering down from her ramble, she threw him a sheepish smile before offering, "Want me to grab you if I find someone? Or vice versa, if you'd be up for that."

When she started to reach for her shoe he quirked a brow, unable to really figure out what she was trying to do. ”Uh…?” he started to ask, then caught sight of the small sip of paper and pen. Obviously she’d been stashing it...somewhere in her sandal -- where exactly, he didn’t really want to ask. The Page listened to her little explanation again, nodding a little though not exactly following. ”O...kay?” was about all he managed before things started clicking in his head. Slips of paper. Pen. Stashed away. Signet Ring. Emergency use?
It was about the only thing that made sense to him, and he made an “o” shape with his mouth once things kind of fell into place, though he couldn’t be sure if he was right. Especially since she didn’t seem to be in an emergency right now, and she was handing him a slip of paper. And telling him her name.
He blinked, and slowly reached out and took the slip from her, smiling but still relatively unsure about the exchange. However, once the slip was in his hand he took hold of her hand again, in a handshake sort of way, and thought it’d only be fair to share at least this much. If he did text her, she’d find out anyway. ”Dominic,” the teen said. ”And I guess I should be flattered you’d pick that song to quote when giving me this?” he added, trying to recall some of the other lyrics and laughing a little. When she broke out into a fit, though, he was right alongside her, and their laughter was basically the only sound that could be heard from, of all places, that particular rooftop. It was just the two of them, having fun. Goofing off. They could deal with all the serious knight business later, probably.
He didn’t even notice how close they were.
Which he probably should have, since, after he pushed that earring button a bit more, despite her laughter she still poised to strike. With a kick. In a skirt. The Page was actually able to react. His more decent side, however, made him close his eyes and he could only hope for the best as he leaned back and to the side a little in an attempt to dodge the assault. Her heel still managed to dig itself into his left shoulder.
Ash’s back landed on the roof’s flooring with a light thud, though there was a more searing pain in his shoulder that he couldn’t ignore no matter how hard he tried. The teen opened his eyes after a beat, not really sure about what happened but comfortable with the fact that he didn’t remember seeing...anything else. Her threats came at a good time, and as he tried to sit up again he actually took her word for it. ”Gotcha,” he said, rubbing and rolling his shoulder to try and get the pain to slowly ebb away. It...wasn’t working. He smirked, though obviously in a bit of pain. ”’Nough with the earring stuff.” For now, but he wasn’t going to add that. ”I can do that.”
He was glad their conversation still picked up after that, and although his shoulder was a little worse for wear he could deal. Ash listened to her idea and nodded every so often, absentmindedly noting the smile on her face had yet to fade. He couldn’t really think of a good reason other than she probably liked talking about fighting and learning how and other similar topics, but he was glad to see it despite his teasing. At her offer he snorted. ”Dude,” he said, pointing at his shoulder. ”Do you seriously need to ask?” which was just his way of saying, “Yes, please, for the love of [insert name of deity or whathaveyou], yes!”
Of course he needed help, and he was more than willing to take all the help she, or anyone else, could give him. Even if it came with a few punches, a few shoves, and even a kick. Ashur felt he was a pretty sturdy guy anyway, so he was sure he could take it. Kind of sure. A little.
Okay, not all that sure, but she was fun to hang out with, so why not?Kailey Koreco Decency bonus points? 8'D

Hey, it wasn't like she kept her paper and pen under her foot. Just up against the back of her calf. She laughed to see his expressions roam around the confused region. Not that she blamed him. What she was doing was pretty... random. Crazy. Was she breaking any rules with this? Hell if she knew.
But he took the paper--and her hand. The smile that sprang up at that was relaxed, calming than her previous snickers and laughter. Well this was... nice. So normal considering they were sitting on a rooftop in weird costumes. But she got a name! Dominic... she'd be remembering that one. Her lips pursed though, a brief wave of darker color crossing her cheeks as he took the jab at her unintentional quote. Her mistake voicing it aloud... "Only if you actually use it does it count," she snickered, hoping he didn't remember a lot of the other song lyrics.
Was it bad for them to be laughing like that? They'd been up there for a while, and her limbs were beginning to protest a little to the stiff positions in the cold. Her skin had since prickled and turned to goose flesh, exposed to the air she'd been all but running from since slipping into the mantel of Themiscyra that evening. But she was having fun. That mattered more to her, was her higher priority. She'd just have to take a long a** shower when she got back to her apartment. Or just bundle up in a cocoon of blankets and not come back out for a week.
Themiscyra saw the way Ashur closed his eyes when she lashed out with her foot. It took her a moment to realize why, even after her heel hit his shoulder, and her foot was tucked back under herself as she knelt again. "I do have the equivalent to underwear on," she told him cheekily. God help her did his reaction amuse her. Most guys she knew from hockey or her classes would have had no shame taking a peek in a situation like that. All the more reason for her to retaliate. He hadn't though. Points given, points given.
But he took her threats in stride, took her teasing with flying colors. Hadn't yet whined about her hitting him like some people did. When he gave a sort of acceptance to her offer to drag him along for fighting lessons, she grinned, trying not to laugh at his expense. Failing. Tried though. "Done then. When I find someone, I'll let you know. Though looks like I could probably teach you a thing or two in the mean time." The last part was said with an especially smug smirk.
Her smile dwindled. They were sitting around for a reason. So she could tell him... as much as she knew. Of course, she was keeping a few things... er... to herself. For now. But they were here for a reason. Even if that reason had allowed her to give him her number. "But um.... any questions? I know this is all kinda crazy. And we're... probably not even halfway through, to be honest."

As if he could grin any wider, the light blush that tinged her cheeks -- unfortunately obscured by the poor lighting -- actually made it happen. Her words that followed got another chuckle out of the teen, and he nodded. ”True,” he said. ”But now that you say that, how can I not?” Ash let her hand go then, a little curious as to how they managed to find themselves in such a...normal...conversation despite the fact that they were dressed a little on the peculiar side. The evening started out so...odd, in fact, that this sort of atmosphere was indeed very calming.
Her company added to that quite a bit, though.
Maybe not when she was attacking him, but never mind that. Ash snickered at her response, not wanting to picture what this “equivalent of underwear” could have looked like but unable to help himself. He’d never imagined what underwear back in the times when her outfit likely would have existed was like, so it was a little...strange. The guy probably looked a little too...in thought, before he finally got his head out of the gutter and look at Themi again. You know, at her face and nowhere else. ”Better safe than sorry,” he concluded with a nod and a clear of his throat.
And he didn’t think that it was a problem if they’d been up there for a while, though he did feel kind of bad that she was up there with a lot less than what he had on. His was more an outfit to complain about in the summer, while hers was the exact opposite. Still, his own body was starting to feel a little stiff since they’d been sitting around for quite some time already. The page hadn’t even noticed; he was too busy goofing off with Themi and all, he just sort of lost track. Typical thing to happen when he was having fun. It’s how he always ended up working well into the morning on his latest project.
”Cool,” was all that came out, paired with a nod, when she seemed to finalize their plans. Ash considered her suggestion to teach him in the meantime, eyeing that smug look of hers a bit unsurely. She packed a good punch. And shove. And kick. But...he could probably use the training. If anything, it’d help make him...sturdier. Which would help. A lot. ”I’m good with both, so just call me or...uh, write...me?” he sort of struggled with what words he could string together that’d make sense, pointing at her ring. ”Texting works too, if you want.”
But yes, they had been sitting around and chatting for a reason, though that reason was all but blown into the wind as far as Ashur was concerned. They talked about enough that night, and most of the conversation had gone in a bit sillier direction, but he didn’t mind. For now, anyway. He was likely going to hit the wall with his face a couple times when he got home, but he’d deal with those injuries when he incurred them. The Page tried to think of a few questions, but couldn’t really come up with anything. Or pretended not to, though he did have a few already floating around in the back of his head.
”Nope, all good for now.” Ash replied, a small smile returning. ”I don’t really mind if we’re still halfway through. Plenty of other times to meet up and talk about stuff, maybe even train or whatever it is we’re supposed to be doing. You’ve given me a lot to think about already anyway, so we can save more for later.” The Page extended his hand again, both as a handshake and as a sort of way for them to help each other get up and off the floor. ”I really appreciate the help, by the way, so thanks.”

Themiscyra sat in bemused silence. If he met that challenge on actually calling her, he'd get a hundred points no questions asked. Not that she said as much out loud. It sounded pathetic even in her head. What did not stay silent was her amusement at how he seemed to take a few extra moments after she mentioned her undergarments. A raised brow and smiling, pursed lips, met his sudden return to earth. "The hell would you have done if I told you it was a loincloth?" It wasn't. But she felt like being mean.
....of course if that was being mean to him or risking herself problems, she wasn't sure.
Her smile was a bright one when he seemed willing to take her up on her offer. "When I figure something out, I'll contact you, 'kay?" She figured that'd be the easiest way to word it. Covered all the bases in one. That worked, right? Powered or not, she'd be able to send him a message. Mmm.... there wasn't a way to abuse it, right? Was there such a thing as too soon asking if he was up for a spar or a practice run against a youma or something~? She never thought she'd be debating proper wait times over powered life.
The lack of questions was... surprising, but good. He had a point. They did have time to go over more. A... great excuse for that number. Meet again. She did want to meet more people who were in similar shoes after all. This worked... great! Themiscyra would be going home with an extra skip in her step that night. Even if only to crawl into blankets. "Glad I didn't scare you away," she admitted after a moment, giving an uneasy laugh. "Saving more of it for another time works better anyways. Need to talk to someone about a few other points myself." Past lives. Negaverse. Did knights have a role in all this? Or were they allowed to be as those she met seemed to be? "If only to make sure I'm not relaying utter bullshit to you."
She took the offered hand without thinking, pushing herself into a crouch, then to her feet. Five-foot-ten on her own, the twenty year-old hit that six foot line in her current heels. Fine by her. Like she was going to give up wearing heels due to her height pft. Her previous laughter simmered down considerably, lips curving on a much calmer note. "Meant what I said about being glad all that didn't scare you off. Some of this stuff can get... kinda crazy, looks like. But it can also be pretty fun, if you keep the right mind and people around you," she added with a smirk and a wink. Less of a hint, more genuine. Themiscyra wasn't too sure how her time would have been spent if she hadn't gotten the early intros she had. On multiple counts. "And learn how to jump buildings properly." Jab. Jab jab jab jab.

"Even I don't think they'd subject women to wearing loincloths in ancient Rome," the teen retorted in something of a grumble, feeling a bit of heat rise to his cheeks. Thankfully his skin color wasn't the sort that made a blush easy to spot, so he could only hope that the bad lighting would work in his favor. "Though I guess in a way it'd give me more to think about..." he went on, letting his mouth get just a little ahead of his brain. A curious tilt of his head signaled his mind going back to the gutter for a bit, and he narrowed his eyes. "Picturing you in a loincloth, though...not bad," he said with a rather wide grin and a wink of his own.
Joking aside, it seemed as though the plans for whenever they'd eventually meet up again were finally...finalized. Truth be told, Ash didn't really care when she would get in touch with him again. Personally, he usually stuck to at the very least a day later, but three was the supposed standard. Depending on the plans, he usually didn't have the patience to wait three days. Either way, he'd be looking forward to it. He'd probably text her as soon as he found a good enough reason to, anyway, regardless of whether she'd contacted him already or not. "Sounds good," was all he said to that, giving a slight nod.
The lack of questions was his excuse for having to meet up again. He learned a lot this time, and he kind of had fun doing it, so all the more reason he'd be happy to have more to learn from Themi in the future. "Not many things can scare me away," the Page said with a puff of his chest, though he said it more jokingly than anything. "So don't worry about that. Besides," he continued. "I asked for it in the first place." Ash listened to go on a bit more, nodding. Yeah, saving him from bullshit would be great, though he was hoping he'd run into other people to gather a bit of information first-hand. He didn't really plan on relying on Themi for everything.
He mirrored her movements and pushed himself up off the ground as well, holding back the tiny bit of surprise when she stood to a couple of inches taller than him once they were standing. "Damn," he said, taking a step back since he was standing pretty close. Surprisingly close. How close did they get while they were sitting down? "Knows more than me, more experience fighting, and you're taller than me?" he went on, dusting his pants off. "Care to knock me down a few more pegs, Themiscyra of Mars?"
Joking, of course. And then she took a jab at his little slip-up that she had to help him out of. Sigh. "Yeah, well...I don't really mind crazy if I at least know what's going on." The teen tucked away the phone number under one of his bracers before continuing. "Guess that's it for tonight?"Kailey Koreco No worries, dude~! "You can keep that image for your dreams," she threw back brazenly, trying to ignore the fact she should probably be miffed this stranger was taking about picturing her in a loincloth. Probably. And yet....
But they had an eventual meeting somewhat set. More excuses to meet up, talk, goof off. Though for training, Themiscyra knew she'd have a bit more fun with that. Of course she'd still be debating when a good time would be to send him a message, assuming he didn't text her first...
It would be cheesy to say he was brave or something, not being scared away. Foolish was just being hypocritical. Instead she settled on, "You just might be fun in all this." In potentially more than one way. Only time could tell.
A grin split her face once she was on her feet, noting she had to tilt her head down a tad to look Ashur in the eye. "If it helps, I cheat," she pointed out, lifting a leg slightly to motion to her heels. But he had to be around her height without the heels. That was amusing. The way he went about it though made her feel smug as hell. Placing her hands on her hips, she couldn't help but feel he'd issued a challenge, asking her if she could take him down a few more pegs. "We'll just save that for when we spar, hm~?" Because like hell was she going to lose to him now. Least not the first round if she could help it.
Watching as he tucked away her number, her head nodded. That was about it. For now. Lifting a hand to give a two finger salute, she began to take a few steps back. "For now~ You've got my number, I've got your knight name. We'll be seeing each other soon... somehow," she added on a laugh. They had... options, it seemed. Well that was a fun concept. Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.... "Till then Ashur."

Well, at least she was in heels. Ashur felt a little better about that. Just a little.
She wasn't shoving it in his face either, so that was nice. The page offered a smile and shrugged at the suggestion of sparring. He'd likely have a bit of trouble with that at first, and judging bye her strength alone he was almost certain it'd be...quite an experience. Again, at least he'd probably get sturdier by the end of a month's worth of sessions. All these thoughts aside, their conversation had finally dwindled down to their goodbyes, and Ashur nodded and did a small salute sort of gesture with his right hand.
"'Til then," he repeated, then turned and looked over the side of the roof. He made it up almost safely, so maybe he'd have better luck on his way down. The page took a deep breath and gauged where he ought to land right in the middle of the alley, where it was clean and clear and free of anything...unpleasant. When he decided, Ash hopped right off the roof...
And landed right in a dumpster. Perfect.Kailey Koreco He's two for two failures tonight. :'DD Fin~!
