Moth-Drops truly was prefect, Valiant didn't care if he was a biased judge. They were laughing together and they looked like lunatics and it was perfect.
"Sounds excellent, dear Moth." Valiant replied before ducking his nose back down to scarf up what was actually some very delicious chicken. He, of course, made a rather impressive mess of his muzzle. A mess that only looked sillier when he licked up everything his tongue could reach, creating a patch of reddish stained fur where the sauce had sat.
Valiant wasn't waiting for the check- he would simply overpay. And leave some coins in the shape of a very friendly smiley face. Valiant thought it was rather nice, their waiter could use with a good laugh and a hefty tip for all the mud and spilling and noise. They were horrible- it was glorious.

As the two of them left the restaurant under the burning gaze of their waiter, Moth rested her head on Valiant's shoulder, walking in step- his cape still draped around her, snuggled nicely around her wings. She was wracked by the occasional giggle fit, thinking of everything had happened. "You know, that was a lot of fun- and the way you draped your cape on me back there, that was really something. But I guess that's what I love about you- you're wonderful in any situation."
Oh. Uh-oh. She'd, uh, she'd said it. She'd used the l-word, and while she hadn't blurted out an "I love you" or something, it had definitely been uttered. Moth had realized, somewhere between the ice water and the red sauce, that she was showing all the signs of falling in love. It was nice, but she worried that maybe it was coming too quickly? After all, they hadn't been seeing each other for very long, and she didn't want to scare him off. At the same time, she wanted to make sure it was love and not just infatuation- she needed to be honest with herself and with him.
But she had to admit- if she was going to be honest- that despite how fast it was, it was love after all. She was in fact falling head-over-hooves for Valiant, and it was senseless to try and deny it.

Valiant honestly didn't have a care in the world. Not that the soft, fine fur around his muzzle was still slightly pinkish from the red sauce, not the glowering look they had been given while leaving the restaurant, and certainly not the ridiculous amount of money he had left to keep the waiter from coming after them while they slept or turning to the bottle for comfort. Moth-Drops tucked perfectly into his side and it was absolute bliss. They were getting mud all over their hooves and Valiant had magicked his hair up into a jaunty, hilarious bun, mane and tail, and it was just wonderful.
The alicorn didn't flinch or gasp or run away as the l-word came out. He simply hummed and nodded along. They had so much fun and he felt particularly dashing about giving up his cape for the lady and very, very pleased that she had liked it herself. Loved it about him. The thought made him warm inside.
"And you're perfect all the time." He hummed, finally voicing what he had had been thinking this whole time.
"My lady," he bowed with a flourish as they reached an ice cream shop, opening the door wide for the mare to go first. It was a silly night and while he may normally be very polite he didn't usually go around saying 'my lady' in a very grave voice. The ice cream shop, however, was far more tolerable to sillyness. Which was excellent, because Valiant was going to order them a very ridiculous pile of ice cream to share.

The young phony behind the counter raised an eyebrow but said nothing at the laughing couple that strode through the door, wearing the marks of some kind of wild night like a badge of honor. They looked fun, and as she scooped out an inordinate amount of ice cream in several different colors, she couldn't help but notice they were barely noticing her; instead they were focused entirely on each other, gazing into each other's eyes. Blech. Just like her parents or something. How could anybody be so schmoopy and still live with themselves? She resolved herself to making gagging noises if they started to kiss in public.
If Moth could sum up her emotions in a word, it would be giddy. The ice cream was sweet, but not as sweet as Valiant. Between their hooves, their hair, and everything else, they must look a fright, but none of that mattered. All that counted was that they'd had a good time together. The night had been an absolute disaster, but she wouldn't have changed a thing. Even the worst disaster felt right with her prince at her side; she hadn't stopped grinning since he'd called her his lady.
And that felt right, too. His lady.
Even though she'd said love way earlier than she'd meant to, it didn't seem to matter to him. He didn't panic, didn't freak out, didn't act all weird- perhaps hearing it felt as right to him as saying it was to her. This was good. This was very, very good- and hopefully a sign of good things to come in the future. As the two sat together, eating ice cream and talking and laughing long into the night, Moth hoped that no matter what the future brought these feelings would never go away- and she /knew/ that no matter what the future brought, this night would remain nestled in her heart as one of the best nights ever.
