Violent Crow
I have a new one that has actually happened to me a few times! *glances at NK* Yeah, you got to hear all about this.
Anyway, it's great to get constructive feedback on your stories. But it feels like that doesn't really happen anymore or a lot of people don't now what "constructive feedback" really is. Why do I say this? Because of the annoying reviews that criticize some aspect of your writing but don't explain what's wrong with it. Pretty much just a "I don't like x" or "I didn't understand y" that doesn't tell you how to improve or what needs to be improved. It's very vague and you're left wondering what's lacking, so you ask... and
never get a response.
emotion_facepalm I agree. That is super annoying and it happens to me a lot too. (More often in certain fandoms than others.)
But I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes people just don't know how to put into words WHY they like or dislike something, all they knew is that they like/dislike it so that's what they tell you. Also, keep in mind that the average ACTIVE fan fic reader is gonna be between the ages of 12 and 23. That's pretty young and they aren't always gonna have the communication skills or the patience to be able to type out an explanation of what they mean.
