Sidestepping the lunge left him with his back to the page. A crack against the back of his head sent the lieutenant reeling forward, and along with striking pain came the notion that he shouldn't have dismissed the page so readily. Spooked as he was, it initiated the man's fight-or-flight reflexes, which evidently settled on fight. The fair stumble left a gap of distance between himself and the pair of attackers, with the baseball-sized pomegranate rolled off somewhere near the opposite side of the alley.

When he recovered, Umber steadied himself with a hand against the wall while he turned to view his attackers. 'Aegir' looked ready to faint, as expected - and Umber considered writing him off, were it not for the few bodily lunges he was still capable of. The page knew nothing of what transpired between them, if the senshi's words were any indication - which suggested he had little to no combat practice beyond basic self-defense. Incapacitating the page meant two left for corruption.

And attacking the pair together meant he risked losing his life over a gamble.

Another step confirmed that his inner ear was thrown off by the force of impact. Umber hissed through his teeth, a snarl that spoke of irritation. The odds stood against him.

I'll hold out until someone arrives to corrupt the blonde one. Reinforcements should be a certainty.

Without declaration, he dug in heels and sprinted toward the pair, dropping into a slide in hopes of impacting one of the page's ankles. Incapacitating his moment was the first step in securing him as a second corruptible commodity. Attempts toward his starseed for immediate effect would meet with increased guard, certainly. And staying on the ground meant that his dizzy spell hampered him less.

It was only a matter of hoping that the senshi would pass out before he could impart further harm.

So he could barely keep his legs under him, so he was sort of seeing double in fits and starts - Aegir was not going to give up. He was stubborn. He was a survivor. Umber managed to easily evade his clumsy attempts, there was no possible way for the senshi of silence to not telegraph his movements with as exhausted as he was.

When Ploutonion made up his mind and sent that damned pomegranate flying, his lips quirked into a ghost of a smile even as he straightened slowly, painfully. The cranky-looking lieutenant was looking at them differently now, reassessing. Aegir knew that was happening as surely as he knew that it would be pure dumb luck to get out of this with all his parts intact. "Bad habit of mine. I just don't know when t'quit." Umber came at them suddenly and put himself in a position to knock the page over, actions both unexpected and executed with fierce precision and the quiet of, well...a hunter.

Not gonna happen, not getting us both. Or either, if they could swing it!

Dredging up reserves he didn't have, Aegir called for his magic - there was no way he'd be able to play Umber like a fish, he'd have to aim for his torso, bind him that way - "Golden Hush" It was the lieutenant wasn't facing him, would hopefully not be able to dodge away since he was in motion. Harder to swap directions, especially since while the senshi was wrecked, his magic still went hard and fast, coiling around Umber's arms just below the elbow and tightening like a boa constrictor to hold him firm. He'd been pretty quiet before, but now if he tried calling out he'd find his voice didn't work either! Fun~

Aegir wobbled and dropped to one knee, brow furrowed as black spots danced in his vision. "Knock'm. Out." He'd try - try - to make his body move, if Ploutonion couldn't do it, he'd have to. Before Umber's called for back-up arrived. Please. But he'd done pretty much everything he could reasonably be expected to do. Before he knew he was on his hands and knees with the concrete scraping and cold against his skin. s**t. Shiiit. I'm gonna black out. Jesus Christ this is the worst fuc-- And he did just that.

Ordinarily, Rhys Banner was the type of person who carefully evaluated situations before deciding on the best course of action.

There was absolutely not time to do that here. Instead, all he could do was, well, do - jump out of the way of the man sliding at him, be glad that whatever the blond had done appeared to be working, and swing a kick, as hard as he could, at the dark-haired man's face.

He was scared and desperate, and had no idea what he was doing, and the only person who had given him any answers was unconscious on the ground. Right then, all he cared about was getting him and Aegir - that's what he'd said his name was - out alive, and if applying his foot to someone's face was going to do that, that was what he was going to do.

He bolted for Aegir, scooping him up rather unceremoniously and kept running, because he didn't really think he had much of a choice.
