Castiel was slowly becoming as relaxed as he was with anyone else. Normally, it took a week for him to become this relaxed around a person, but there was something about Dean. He was just so casual and genuine in the way he carried himself. Castiel found himself trusting him faster than anyone he had ever met outside of his family. Not only that, Castiel’s OCD tendencies/over-worrying about Sam’s arriving home on time, seemed to be soothed by the presence of Dean.
By the time, Castiel had finished his tea, he looked back at Dean as he asked him what he liked to do with his free time. Then the other proceeded to finish his beer. With a small smile, Castiel turned for a moment to place his and the abandoned cup of tea in the sink. Then the dark brown haired male walked back to the fridge and pulled two beers out.
“I like to read, I also like to learn new things about people and life in general. I have a lot of cousins and relatives around the world, so they will send me postcards and letters about their travels. Compared to them, I’m pretty much one of the dullest one of the family. But I have branched out a lot since moving out here to go to school with my brother. He is studying to get a law degree like your brother, so they actually often share classes together. That is actually how I formally met Sam. Sam needed to find an apartment, and I had one already with an extra bedroom.” Castiel told Dean calmly. His tone was still pretty neutral, but something about it seemed happy. He like someone being interested in his life for a change. Not many people were.
As Castiel spoke he handed Dean one of the beers, and then opened his own beer. “My brother and Sam complain to me that I don’t ever have fun, so I am going to have a beer with you, because you seem like good company and it’s friday, so I feel as though, it would be a great way to hang out with you.” Castiel stated as he took a large sip of the beer. He looked like he might spit it back up for a moment, but he swallowed it a moment later with slight difficult. All of the sips after that seemed to go down fine as his taste buds became numb to it.
As Castiel continued to talk, he told Dean about some of his favorite books. Most of the books weren’t even from this century, and some weren’t even available, except in Latin. Castiel told Dean about the fact that for his major he learned how to read Latin; Hebrew; and both ancient and modern Greek. Then because of his family, he was could fluently speak and read German, Russian, French, Spanish (European Spanish), and Mandarin Chinese well enough to carry on a completely conversation. Some he was better at than others, but he could definitely translate the languages for the most part.
Of course, Castiel, despite not having a strong taste for it, continued to drink with Dean. Within the next twenty minutes, they had finished off the first 6-pack, and were halfway through another. At some point, they had moved into the small living room, and Castiel was sitting on the table with his legs crossed while Dean was on the couch in front of him. The half empty 6-pack was out of the fridge and sitting next to Castiel on the table. He was currently telling Dean about a trip to China, he took with his brothers when he was fifteen years old. Castiel, since he didn’t drink practically ever, was well on his way to being drunk since he was on his fifth beer.
Being that Castiel was becoming more and more drunk, his emotions were coming alive. Suddenly, he was smiling and laughing at every story Dean told, and giggling through his own. All of his gestures were huge and he seemed to be full of life suddenly. It was almost a complete change from where he started. “And then right as we were about to start gambling these Chinese street thugs, My father comes up behind us, and starts yelling all kinds of things in Chinese, which we couldn't’ understand of course, so we were scared out of our minds!” Castiel laughed happily before finishing his beer. He couldn’t even taste the beer at this point.
It was right about this time, that Sam and Gabriel came walking into the door just in time, to hear Castiel laughing at his own story and see him practically tumble off of the coffee table he was sitting on. Sam’s eyebrow instantly twitched into a disgruntled position, as he tried to think, who Castiel even knew that he could get drunk with. If it was one of his family, Gabriel would have wanted to come back to the apartment to seem them since their family was always really close with each other.
As Sam walked farther in his apartment, he finally laid eyes on Dean, who was sitting on the couch with a beer in his hand. “Dean? What are you doing here?” He asked immediately, unsure how Dean even knew where he lived. It wasn’t like he came to visit all the time. He didn’t even help Sam move out here. “And why is Cas-” Sam tried to get out, before Castiel was up off the table and hugging Sam. “SAM! You’re back! You’ll never guess who showed up at the door! Your brother!” Castiel yelled happily as he continued to hugged the larger male. “Yes, I see that Dean is here, now why is he here?” Sam asked as he directed the question at Dean and not the practically drunk Cas attached to him.
