Stanford: America's most well-known law school. Only the best of the best ended up in school here, studying to try and make the country a better place. Students littered the campus, meandering from class to class, book in hands or in bags strapped to their backs. Or driving around in their up-to-date, fancy cars, every seat full of friends.

Among those new cars and wandering students, however, sat a car that could easily be considered "vintage". It was black and sleek and obviously well-taken-care of by the owner. A '67 Chevy Impala was parked in the off-campus residential parking, driver leaned back in the driver's seat, seatbelt still on and hands still gripping the wheel. He stared forward out of the windshield and steeled himself before sucking it up and swinging the door open. He quickly un-clicked his seat belt and stepped out of the vehicle, slamming the squeaky door shut before making his way to the building, looking around at everything as he sauntered up, bowed legs giving him a little tough-guy swagger to his step.

Eventually he reached his destination: apartment D27 on the second floor. He took a minute to clear his throat and give a breath before he knocked, fidgetting with his leather jacket and shuffling his boots on the welcome mat as he looked around impatiently, eyes squinted as he took his little brother's porch front in. Crap, was this gonna be awkward.
PostPosted: Tue May 26, 2015 5:28 pm

There was a shuffle from behind the door in the Stanford student apartment, before the door opened. From behind the door, a 5'll'' brown haired male appeared and stared blankly at the newcomer with his hard, blue eyes. The male was dressed in a gray undershirt with a black button-up shirt that was currently unbuttoned. He also had on a pair of very well fitting cargo khaki pants. He looked fairly casual, but also extremely uninterested in life. His expressionless face was an anomaly all of its own, because he had no expectation of knowing or not knowing this man. It was literally as if he walked around emotionless and without care.

"Hello," He stated in a rugged, tenor voice. His voice was very monotone to match the already appalling emotionless overall expression. Ultimately, the man looked and spoke as if he was a blank slate. It was almost eerie actually the way he acted. Though, what was even more odd was that the male said nothing else. He just said a simple "Hello" and then just continued to stare blankly at the other man's face.

Dean stared right back at the unexpected male that opened the door. He took in the casual appearance of his attire from the crooked collar down to his bare feet, half-hidden by the cargos he was sporting. He did this in one fell swoop before focusing on his disheveled hair and then settling on his stoic features.

"Uh, hi. Is, uh, Sammy home? Or do I have the wrong apartment?" He asked slowly, taking in his slightly unnerving blue eyes. The guy looked like he didn't have a soul or something. No emotion crossed his face, and it creeped him out a bit. What was with this guy? Was this Sammy's roommate? How the hell did he put up with him if it was?

He felt awkward standing there staring between the two of them, waiting for some sort of acknowledgement.
PostPosted: Tue May 26, 2015 6:53 pm

"Sammy? No, a Sam, yes. Sam Winchester, but he is not here currently." The disheveled brunette haired male stated in the same tone as a simple reply. After a second, the shorter male stepped aside and pushed the door open without a word. Leaving the now wide open door, the male started back into the apartment. The apartment looked almost untouched in how neat it was. There was a tv and a couch and even plants, but it looked like no one spent time in the place. The male that answered the door went straight back to the kitchen that was blocked from view of the door by a protruding counter that curved around to somewhat close off the kitchen.

The layout of the main room was pretty simple. The door was in the middle of one side, across from the hallway. On the left side of the door was the living room, and on the right side of the door was half a small dinning room and the tucked away Kitchen that was hidden by a wall and the curved bar. There was not much decoration, if any, and the kitchen was the place that seemed the most lived in since there was food out. It wasn't until the male returned to his task in said kitchen that he realized his mistake.

"Oh, you are welcome to come in and wait for Sam to return. He normally gets out of class in about fifteen minutes." The male called from the kitchen. He had forgotten to invite the other in. It was hard to think about the man even being the same species since he really didn't understand how to function properly as one.

Dean looked at this guy with a baffled expression as he walked away from him and into the kitchen without another word to him. What was with this guy? Was he high? Did Sam live with a stoner? Hell, was Sam smoking? ...Might do the guy some good since he was so stuck up his own a** all the time. At least, he was last time Dean saw him...almost a year ago. God, he had missed his brother. The bi-monthly phone calls just weren't cutting it.

As this roommate guy idly invited him inside, finally, he nodded and cleared his throat before sauntering inside and shutting the door behind him quietly. He eyed the slightly beaten-up couch before he decided to go ahead and sit. Like hell he was standing for twenty minutes to wait for his brother to get back. First, however, he felt like he should at least introduce himself to this roommate.

He stepped around the kitchen counter just enough so that he could lean on it and look at the guy that seemed to be making...tea? Huh. Weird.

"Dean, by the way. I'm Sammy's big brother. Well...age-wise, anyway," he joked in his gruff voice with an awkward toothy grin, brilliant whites shining as his face lit up. The other guy seemed to have no emotional or expressional change, and it was still creeping Dean out. This was going to be an awkward fifteen minutes.

---

"Oh, man. That never happens. It's a Christmas miracle!" exclaimed a blond male that was quite a few inches shorter than his friend he walked side-by-side with, bag slung over his shoulder. Christmas wasn't but for another four months away, but their lit. class had been dismissed early, which happened, um, never.

"Oh, hey, since we got out of class early, you wanna go get some ice cream or coffee? I could go for something sweet and delicious, ya know, all the time," he grinned, nudging his tall friend in the bottom of his ribs with his elbow. "You don't have anything better to do, right? My brother's not expecting you back until after class would usually get out, and why not spend your free time with your bestest friend ever in all the world of Harvard? Come on, I'm kidnapping you. You have no choice now, you took too long." He grinned crookedly up at his friend and crooked their elbows together, which was awkward thanks to the height difference. "Lucky for you, I'm a good friend and will buy whatever ou want for you, even if you wanna go next door to that healthy Subway place and get your disgusting vegetables."

"Dean is an interesting name. In hebrew, it means law, which is a good name, a trustworthy name. Though in old english, it means valley, which is pretty insignifcant. Is your family linage jewish?" The male stated without much thought. His words once again carried no emotion. It was almost like talking to a robot, really. Leaning back on the counter, the male nodded to himself. "My name also has a jewish orgin. Particularly it is a name that is built from theophory in the Bible. My name means 'Shield of God', which is very interesting as well, but mostly just relates to my family being religious and wishful in their thoughts." the male continued after a moment. He figured that by the other extending information about himself that he expected something to be given information in return.

After getting an odd look from the other male, the emotionless male realized that the newcomer was hoping for his name. "Castiel is my given name though, and it is much easier to say in conversation, I supposed." Castiel stated before given the other his characteritic blank stare.

----

Sam turned to his friend with an eye roll as he pushed his bookbag further up on his shoulders. "You know, it isn't exactly a miracle, if he told us last class that he would be letting us early today. You must not having been listening to that part... or any part probably." Sam stated with a small chuckle. He pretty much towered over his friend, but that was okay. They were both studying law at Harward, but other than that, his friend was one of the brothers of his roommate. They were kind of unlikely friends though, since Sam tended to be more of the straight-edge kind of guy, and Gabriel was pretty carefree and run away from seriousness in general.

"Gabe, I don't exactly think that Castiel will take to our adventure as the best idea. You know how he gets when I'm late," Sam replied back to his friend as he felt himself being dragged by the smaller male. He didn't know why he always let Gabriel get away with dragging him around, but in some ways, Sam thought that he reminded him of the childish that he was used to having around when Dean was around. Of course, even though Sam knew it wasn't the best planned idea of fun, he still was completely willing to indulge the other in his desires to attempt to make fun. Plus, Castiel was Castiel regardless of outside factors.

Dean stared at this "Castiel" guy as he unloaded basically a whole load of unimportant information. What, was this guy Wikipedia or something? Why did he even know what his name meant in different languages? It was different if he looked it up, but he just knew it off the top of his head. Man, was this guy unnerving. That stare was driving him nuts.

"Oh, uh...'Shield of God'? That kind of an intense name for one guy, don't you think? Puts a lot of weight on your shoulders. Well, I guess not if you're not religious. I mean, I'm not religious, and having a name like that seems like it would put a lot of expectations on you, especially coming from a religious family," Dean rambled, eventually stopping himself from talking anymore. He wasn't nervous, damnit. This guy just creeped him out.

---

"Yeah, yeah, Baby Bro will get over it," Gabriel easily waved off Sam's statement. "It won't kill the creep to be alone for ten more minutes than he usually is." He grinned at Sam as they marched towards the ice cream shop that appeared directly in front of him.

"Oh, the sweet smell of sweets!" Gabriel practically sang as they stepped through the door to the ice cream shop. He practically moaned as he looked at the wall of ice cream toppings. He looked up at Sam, utter glee shining in his eyes.

"You gonna be awesome and get ice cream with me, or lame and go get your leaf-y greens and fungi next door?" he inquired as he eyed all of the different types of ice cream and the different sizes he could get as he shoved a hand in his pocket to retreive his wallet. He glanced away from the treats briefly to dig out fifteen dollars, handing it to Sam. "Here. Get yourself something nice, pretty boy. Just come back in here to eat if you go next door to get food."

Castiel turned momentarily toward the see-through tea pot and put in the tea infuser ball into the now heated water. He then moved the tea pot over to one of the off burners, before he turned off the burner he was using. He was currently making a Bai Mu Dan White tea that was an Chinese white tea that one of his brothers had sent him from when he lived in the Fujian province of China for a while. Castiel had a very large family, which included 1 sister and 4 brothers, and hundreds of cousins, aunts, and uncles. His family actually so large that it almost reached across the entire world, and Castiel, being one of the more civil members of their family, was on good terms with almost everyone in the family. He often received many gifts from his family members through their correspondences over the years. The teapot was actually a gift as well from the same brother.

"No, it is a blessing to be giving such an honor." Castiel stated after listening to Dean's reply. "My father gave me such an honor, so that I would always strive to be in the will of God. All of my siblings and I were given names of such honor. My sister's name translates 'Grace of God', which is a much higher honor in my opinion." Castiel continued to further explain his reasoning. "My family is definitely religious, but when you grow up around so much blind faith, you begin to question the accuracy of it. I guess, you could say that I am conservatively religious." Castiel continued to explained before he moved to one of the cabinets and started to search for tea cups.

"Would you like a cup of tea, it is a Chinese white tea, specifically Bai Mu Dan White tea?" Castiel asked as he offered an empty cup to Dean.

----

Sam laughed a little as he was dragged into the ice cream shop. "You really are a child, Gabe." Sam informed his friend. The only real response he could give to the comment about him liking lame leaf-y greens and fungi was an eye roll, though. Gabriel really couldn't do anything without being odd or an extremely childish. "Pretty boy? I think not. Doesn't this place also have frozen yogurt? I think I'll just get some of that." Sam commented softly as he looked around the shop. In all honesty, he hadn't actually ever been in here, he just noticed a sign on the wall that said frozen yogurt. It was probably a much better option than all that ice cream sugar.

"Keep your money, though, man, I don't need it." Sam told him as he handed him back the money. He didn't need Gabriel to give him hand-outs like that.

Dean nodded to Castiel's reply to his basically religious-bashing. Luckyily the guy didn't get offended when he said he wasn't religious. Most people tried to convert him to some sort of religion once he revealed that he didn't really believe in any deity. Maybe this guy wasn't as creepy as he thought. Maybe he was just very unopinionated, which was a refresher from the regular crowd.

"Uh...I've never really drank any tea before. I'm more of a coffee person...or beer. Beer is my go-to. Uh...but I guess I could try it. Doesn't hurt to try, right? Unless you, like, poison it or something, huh?" he said with a bit of nervous laughter, eyeing this Castiel guy warily. He seemed okay, he guessed, but he was still gonna be wary of him.

------

Gabriel scoffed as the taller male tried to hand him his money back. "Naw, man, I told you I'd pay. Go get yourself some fro-yo Samsquatch. It's over in that general direction," he said, waving his money off in the direction of the frozen yogurt machines. "Seriously, go get yourself a treat. On me," he told Sam with a playful wink before turning to the ice cream counter and ordered his mountain of diabetes.
PostPosted: Tue Jul 14, 2015 12:04 pm

Castiel nodded to the male with a very neutral look about his face, before he pulled the empty cup back down next to his cup. "Coffee can be very addictive with the caffeine in it, and I'm pretty sure that beer is designed so that you drink it without tasting it. It isn't very pleasant stuff." Castiel remarked, offhandedly. He wasn't trying to be offensive. He was merely stating his reasons behind not sounding interest in those beverages. Castiel didn't drink alcohol, as well, but that was another story all together. It made him very unusually different. Why anyone would want to lost all their sense like that, Castiel did not know.

After another moment of looking at the teapot, Castiel reached over the stove and picked it up. It was probably steeped enough, especially since Dean did not appear to enjoy tea all that much. Carefully and precisely, the light brown haired man poured the two cups of tea, before setting the pot back down again. Then just as sensibly, he picked up both cups and moved closer to Dean. With one hand, he offer the cup he had offered towards Dean, and the other, he gently placed on the counter opposite of Dean.

----

Sam rolled his eyes at the shorter man, before starting to sulk off toward the frozen yogurt. Sam could never figure out why Gabriel was so obsessed with taking him places and then insist on paying. It made him feel like a little kid or Gabriel's girlfriend or something stupid like that. It wasn't like Sam didn't have his own money, granted it wasn't a lot, but he still had his own money. All of this was something he had even brought up to Gabriel, and yet, there he was. He was standing in the line to check out his frozen yogurt... with Gabriel's money. The flat look on his face made it obvious that he was not pleased about it, but he didn't have the patience to fight with Gabriel today. He was already going to have deal with Cas freaking out when he got home late.

Dean let out a little chuckle when Castiel voiced his opinion of Dean's preferred drinks. There was definitely some truth to it.

"Yeah, I see where you could think that. Beer takes a while to get used to. I've had a long time to get used to it, though. I've been drinking basically since I was fourteen," he told the guy, taking the cup from him when it was offered. He looked down into the steaming mug and was surprised that he liked the smell of tea at least.

"Sammy never liked that I drink, but, what can you do? I was raised differently than he was. I was the first kid that they had no clue how to properly raise, and fixed most of their mistakes with Sammy. Or maybe he's just smarter than I am," he said with another chuckle, memories swimming behind his eyes and he lifted the cup to his lips and took a sip. He wrinkled his nose a little at the taste and set the mug down.

"No offense, but I don't think I'm diggin' the tea," he told Cas, scooting the cup away from him. "And it makes me feel like less of a man," he added gruffly, straightening his shoulders and shifting uncomfortably, scowling down at the tea like it wronged him somehow. "Now I need a beer," he grumbled some more then realized Cas was standing there. He cleared his throat and shifted some more awkwardly, trying to fight down the embarrassed pinkness of his cheeks that he refused to believe he was capable of having.

"So, uh," he started, trying to change the subject, "What are you studying here? You don't seem like the lawyer type, like Sammy. You don't seem like you'd do very well as someone center-stage." He paused a moment and realized how rude that sounded, so he coughed once more and muttered, "s**t. That came out wrong."

------

Gabriel got his ice cream and happily plopped down at one of the tables once he got his mountain of diabetes and began spooning some into his mouth. He hummed in satisfaction as the candy-covered-chocolate-covered chocolate and strawberry ice cream hit his tongue.

"Ooooh, I have the best ideas," he sang to himself before taking another bite and looking up as Sam sat across from him. He grinned at him as Sam set his change down on the table in front of him. The guy looked so disgruntled, and he knew it was because he used Gabriel's money.

"Why so bitchfaced, Sammy-kins? Are you a strong, independent moose who don't need no sugar mama?" he asked, that sly grin still on his lips as he cheekily spooned some more of the sweet dessert into his mouth. "I think you need to relax and let mama take care of you," he added, pointing his empty plastic spoon accusingly at the tall male and waggling his eyebrows. "Now, you're a growing boy. Eat your fro-yo and be happy with life. Stop pouting and don't slouch, or you'll end up my height, and that's no fun. Believe me."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 19, 2015 5:26 pm

Castiel shrugged as Dean took an obvious dislike to the tea he had made for him. He didn't seem to care one way or another if Dean liked it or not. He liked it, so that was all that mattered to him. It was amusing to Cas to see the male look like he wanted to spit the tea back out into the cup. There was no sign of it on his face, but he found the male very intriguing.

When Dean said that he needed a beer now, Castiel gently set his own tea cup down and turned towards the fridge. He didn't say anything, as he just calmly went to the cooling food storage, and pulled out a beer from the 6-pack that Sam had left in the fridge. "Although, I cannot personally understand why you like beer, I understand it is probably mutual with the way you cannot understand why I like this tea." Castiel spoke out softly as he handed the male the dark and cold brown glass bottle. He didn't seem bothered by letting the male drink Sam's beer. He just as well assumed that Sam was on good terms with his brother, and would let the dark haired male have the pleasure of drinking the tart and sour liquid. Castiel would have much rather it be drank, and gone out of the apartment, anyways.

"I take no offense. I am definitely not a lawyer. I'm a theology and philosophy double major with an emphasis in major religions. Definitely more of a thinker than a fighter." Castiel told him in a completely calm tone as he picked up his tea cup again. He slowly began to sip out of the cup in a very cautious form. "If you don't mind me asking about you, what do you do? You don't exactly look like the higher education type. Rough hands and all." Castiel stated as he revealed his observation of Dean's rough looking hands. He must do some kind of daily labor work.

------------

"If you must say it like that, then yes, I don't need you to keep paying for things, I spent my entire life being watched over by my older brother, I didn't leave home and move across country to Stanford, just to find someone else to baby me, Gabe, so how about you cut the s**t with me." Sam said a little sourly as he stabbed his spoon into his frozen yogurt. Gabriel was one of his closer friends. He knew that he didn't like to be treated like a child like this, but he still constantly pushed his buttons like this.

After a few moments of shoving the frozen dessert into his mouth, Sam found himself cooling down from his small amount of anger. He knew that Gabriel was only trying to keep Sam from being a complete, stick in the mud. "You know just for the record, if I was going to be someone's b***h, don't you think I would have found someone a little more good-looking, and taller," Sam spoke out jokingly before he picked up his spoon and started to eat the dessert again.

Dean nodded when Castiel told him what he was studying. Yeah, that seemed about right, but man, did that seem like a lot of work...especially reading.

"Wow, you must be pretty freakin' busy, then. That sounds like it requires a lot of reading and writing. I mean...more than most other majors," Dean said, grinning at the beer that was handed to him. He popped the top off and took a good swig, sighing happily as the cool liquid slid down his throat and got rid of the tea taste that was left there.

"Oh, that's good. Thanks," he said thankfully, tipping the bottle Castiel's direction in cheers to him before taking another swig. "Yeah, I guess we're just gonna have to agree to disagree on our choice of drinks, huh?" he chuckled and swiveled the liquid around in the bottle.

"Oh, uh... No, I'm definitely not the higher education type. You got that right," he said with a half-grin, eyes sparkling. "No, I actually do automechanics. I'm not certified or anything, but I learned from our dad. It's what I'm best at, if you count useful skills I have. Other than that, I'm just good at hand-to-hand combat, guns and knives," he explained, taking another sip of his beer and setting it down on the counter. He leaned forward, elbows resting on the counter.

"Right now I don't really have a job, though. It sucks, but who needs money? I just need enough to put gas in Baby and drive," he said, an almost dreamy tone in his voice. "Maybe I can pick up some work around here. Get my hands dirty again, ruin some clothes with grease and soot." As he continued talking about it, his shoulders visibly relaxed and his eyes lit up a little at the thought of getting his hands dirty with grease and vehicular fluids.

------

Gabe rolled his eyes as Sam snapped at him. Boy, Sammy sure was in a bitchy mood today. He took a big spoonful of his ice cream just as Sam decided to lighten up and insult the shorter male. He snorted, choking a little on his treat before swallowing it. He looked up at Sam, amused and eyes dancing.

"Oh, man, Samsquatch. Tell me how you really feel," he chuckled, smirk planted firmly on his lips. He leaned forward towards him and said, a glint in his eye, "People usually don't get to choose whose b***h they are...b***h."

He winked and sat back down, taking another bite of his ice cream. He finally looked down in his bowl to see that he was more than halfway done already. Damn. His sweets never lasted long enough.

Castiel gave a small smile to Dean's words. It didn't stay on his face long, but it was obvious that he really appreciated hearing the comment. At Harvard, he was pretty much a second-class citizen, because he wasn't a law major. He also didn't come from a family with money, so he was there on just mere and scholarship... but somehow that made him less of a person to them. It was a nice change to hear someone that showed so much astonishment at hearing what he did, especially since Dean seemed to be commenting on the hard work that Cas must put into his schooling. Stuck-up, future lawyers definitely didn't put much merit in someone that studies religions. Most of them don't even see the point of religion. They couldn't see the beauty and the complexity of them like Castiel could.

"You are really too kind, but I really appreciate you saying that, I don't hear it much. Though just for your information, my degree doesn't really do all that much more reading than a normal law major. It is just different contents really." Castiel informed him as his blank expression returned completely to his face. He seemed to have a lot smaller emotion triggers that were like short, small bursts. It was also apparent that either Castiel was warming up to Dean, or Dean was getting more used to picking up on the little emotions that Castiel was expressing. His expressions, particularly his smiles, were like rainbows after a bad storm. They weren't common, and it was the fact that they weren't common that made them more than just some basic colors reflecting in the passed rain clouds. They were a moment of precious beauty.

"Oh auto-mechanics, that is a very good skilled profession to have. There aren't too many people that are skilled in mechanics anymore." Castiel stated with a little surprise in his voice. He obviously was interested in learning more about it. Dean honestly was very intriguing to Cas. There was something that just so genuine about him. "What exactly makes it so exciting to get gritty and greasy under a car like that?" Castiel asked as he stepped closer to the dark brunette. He easily slipped into a lean against the counter across from Dean, and looked at him in the eyes. He was still a good three feet away thanks to the counter between them, but it was now blatantly obvious that he was more comfortable with Dean.

---------------------

Sam gave Gabriel a short, bright laugh. Sam's laughter had a very special warmness to it. He had always had it, and it wasn't exactly something that you could explain. His laughter and smile just had a way of brightening up a room. It was probably because he was normally not very expressively happy. He was usually very serious and focused. He never just cut-loose for the point of doing it, but when he did cut-loose for whatever reason, it was absolutely beautiful. His face definitely looked 100% better when it had a smile on it, as compared to a frown.

"Oh yeah, because you could definitely control me, alright." Sam countered back sarcastically with a slightly smirk as he looked him dead-back in the eyes. "if anyone's the b***h here, I think we both know that it's you. You act so childish, I'm surprised that most people don't come up to me when we are together and ask me to control my child." Sam spoke back with a playful tone sparking inside him as he continued to eat his frozen yogurt in between speaking.

Dean didn't know how to reach when he saw the brief moment of appreciation and happiness flit across the other male's face. So the guy was capable of showing emotion? Huh. Imagine that. At least he seemed a little less creepy to Dean now. That, and the conversation was actually rolling smoothly between the two of them, so the atmosphere was much more relaxed. In that relaxed state, he found himself Grimm over at Castiel, even as the emotion quickly fled the dark-haired male's face. He loved making other people happy, and he hadn't been able to in quite some time now. It was a nice feeling.

He took a swig of his beer as Cas asked what was exciting about being a grease monkey. When he pulled the bottle away from his lips, the grin was still showing on them. He hadn't even noticed that Cas copied him in leaning on the counter. He just jumped into explaining it.

"I dunno. It just makes me feel like I can get under the hood and do something, ya know? And the grease and soot...it gives me something to show for my work. I just...I like being good at something. I like knowing that I can fix something rather than..."

Dean paused, looking up at Cas from his beer and giving a crooked smile.

"Anyway. What do you do in your spare time? I mean, whenever you're not studying or creeping out passersby?" He joked, tipping his beer up and emptying it down his throat.

------

Gabriel laughed aloud ar Sam's words, smiling over at him brightly.

"Oh, man, Samsquatch. I love it when you're in these moods. You're so much more fun than usual," he teased, basically inhaling the rest of his ice cream and setting his spoon down in the bowl and sitting back in his chair.happily.

"Okay. Whenever you're ready, Gigantor," he said with a smile on his face. "Hopefully oh brother of mine isn't freaking out about your absence too bad."
