Psykgi Mentha

Psykgi was just strolling around, minding her own... oh who was she kidding, she was eavesdropping like a champ... when suddenly an offer came out of thin air. Psykgi grinned at the tealblood. ”Sure!” she said – she loved company, she really did. She started on her way over. Now, she was sort of minding her own business, navigating to a table being something that you focused on.

Suddenly, a hand came out and took some of her food. Psykgi raised a quizzical eyebrow, as ma'am chittered unhappily.

Rude, rude... her lusus said.

Psykgi only smiled. Did the blueblood think she was a serving troll? Well, that was cute. Clearly, the blueblood was unobservant and hadn't noticed that she was eating them too.

Psy decided to play it up for all that it was worth, for the sake of fun. She gave the trolls at the table a playful wink and turned, for the time being, to the blueblood.

”Hello!” she said, ”Clearly, you are interested in the food, so I'll just give you a rundown on what I have here!”

Ma'am grumbled, as much as a swarm of roaches could grumble – her troll was supposed to be rising socially, not... serving like this.

Psykgi proceeded to describe... and lie profusely... about every item on the plate. Some things she made sound better than they were, some worse than they were (subtly, of course) and some... well, she hadn't tried some of them yet, and so... well. She lied. A lot.

She wanted to see what the helix-symbolled blueblood would do with her information, but Ma'am reminded her that she had a table to get to.

Just a little bit longer? Just to see? And then she could mess with them further by retreating to the table and observing them from a distance. Though... she did hate to be rude herself.

‘You look quite decent. For a lowblood.’

...........‘For a lowblood.’

......................‘For a lowblood.’

'Aww yeah, she thinks I look decent!!' was Elidae's first thought in response to the highblood's comment, completely disregarding the evident sharpness of her tone. It was practically a compliment to the little yellowblood; a comment from a highblood is a gracious one! She mused to herself about how pretty the purpleblood's name was and felt compelled to utter out all her jumbled thoughts, but kept her lips tight in a constant smile.

An unexpected pat on the shoulder from the blueblood made Eli startle a bit. Not that she didn't enjoy physical contact with other trolls, but she tried so hard to not step on any toes, especially around highbloods. So any kind of physical contact was out of the question. Yet, the blueblood did it so carelessly. She glanced perplexed at the girl, who started mentioning how her and the purpleblood's names sounded similar -and they kinda did!-, and would have a lot in common. Elidae tilted her head a little, lost. Probably not. Why would she say that?

The nameless blueblood girl suddenly stopped the attention of a very swirly redblood-Oh my gosh look at their hair! Eli stood on her tippy toes to get a better look of what was on the redblood's plate as she very zealously described all the food on her plate to the blueblood. “Mm, looks preeetty tasty to me!” Elidae cheerily blurted out, the redblood’s blatant sarcasm and the blueblood suggesting the former was serving food going nyoom over her head.

"Hahahaha. Yeah, both our names start with the same letter!" She tried not to roll her eyes at Chiara and placed her arm around Elidae. "We're like, Vowel Sisters or something!" Eridia couldn't believe the s**t was was saying. Vowel Sisters? The heck?

The purpleblood wanted to laugh as her friend purposely took someone else's food. The redblooded troll had approached them. She described the food she had on her plate with excruciating details. That was something rather.. unusual, unless she had tasted every dish. "Woooow the service here knows the stuff they serve!" She smirked at the redblood. "Out of eeeeverything you've mentioned, what would you recommend? We are reeeeally famished!"

Time to test the redblood's validity.

Meat from catches in the desert was lean, dry, and tough. Afryse didn't care for it all that much, but when your lusus took charge of your finances and accounted for every single thing in the house, pawning junk to get beetles was exceedingly hard. No beetles, no market food. Though he had a certain fondness of Hot grub-co and Milkbeast curds on dough with red orb sauce. Too bad he couldn't eat just those things all the time.

He took the plate from Hemera, offering her a firm nod in thanks. The food looked... Interesting. At least they had exactly the same things and exactly the same proportion. Inwardly, he sighed in relief and outwardly the slight tension in his body relaxed, "Thank you, Hemera... And yes, the desert selection is thin. Mostly Witikodad hunts."

Before he could continue more, Hemera offered a random redblood to sit with them. Afryse flinched, anger bubbling below his mask of calm. Why did she have to be so social? And with a redblood with wild hair no less! At least it was a lowblood... That was good. If it had been teal or above he might have become even quieter and more sullen.

But maybe Hemera had the right idea, because this redblood was quite clever. Afryse smiled slightly as the spectacle went on. In truth he didn't know if what she said about the things were true... well some were on his plate. Taking one that Psykgi had praised, he took a bite and frowned. No this was nothing like she - OH. Covering his mouth, he held back laughter and managed to swallow it down. Leaning closer to Hemera, he whispered behind his hand, "She's lying about the foods. How clever."

Then the purpleblood spoke and Afryse went stiff and silent, watching the scene with sharp eyes. Sliding one hand to rest beside him on his seat, ice started to crackle at his finger tips, hidden by the shadows of the table. He'd be prepared if they did something wrong to this redblood.

Hemera's head turned a fraction of an inch towards Afryse as he whispered to her. The redblood was lying? That was certainly risky around a purpleblood. A purpleblood with a blueblood who assumed a lower caste was the help of all things. Hemera admired how well Psykgi rolled with it. Perhaps this was a way to fight back in the only way she knew how? But, again, the redblood was about to have her bluff called.
That might not end well.

Hearing something crack, Mera glanced down and noticed Afryse's fingers starting to make ice. Now that certainly wasn't good with this sort of company around. With her plate on the table, Mera made a quick judgment call. "Oh, I seem to have forgotten something to drink! So did you, Afryse! I'll just put my jacket down on a seat for you," she called to Psykgi with a smile, "and we'll be back in a moment."

Then she dragged Afryse away from the scene, back to the buffet table. Hopefully the redblood would climb out of the hole she dug herself, and the highbloods would move off so Afryse would not be so riskily nervous. The line, however, was getting ridiculous. Someone seemed to be up front and hadn't moved yet. Line trolls were grumbling, but not bothering to do anything. Strafing around to get to the cooler, Mera took time to pause with Nictor. "Hey there. I know there's a lot to choose from, but other trolls are hungry and you're keeping them waiting. Maybe you should get a few things for now and more later if you can't decide? And if you need somewhere to sit..." Yes, this troll seemed lonely, too. "We're at the table with the teal jacket on the one chair."

With that, she continued on with Afryse, and when she figured they had some amount of privacy, she whispered, "Are you okay? You were starting to blow your cover. Should I be concerned?"

Psykgi Mentha

Psy ignored the yellowblood for the time being (though her cheeriness was interesting in a different way – Psy did enjoy good cheer, being a cheery troll herself, and also the yellowblood had lovely hair) and smiled sweetly at the lavenderblood, locking eyes with her mischeviously.

Ohhh, so she thought something was up? And instead of outright saying so, she wanted to play a game of her own and try to humiliate Psykgi? Clever. And fun.

Time to test just how good the purpleblood was at this game.

”Oh well!” Psykgi bullshitted happily, pointing out the foods that were actually her least favorite (among those she had tasted) on her plate, and proceeded to sell it. Did she mix up her lies? Maybe! But if she talked enough, who would notice? It wasn't the best of jokes, of course, since she was sure that they would be tasty to someone else – the food here was generally good – but still, Psykgi would win her game. Either she'd get some not-particularly-to-her-taste items off her plate, or she'd get a beautiful example of highblooded attitude to add to her notes. And then she could chuckle about it with the tealblood and her yellowblooded companion because highbloods were hilarious. And could cull her, but when had she ever (EVER) let that get her down?!

”Go ahead!” she said, gesturing to the food, ”Take some!”

Azrael waited for Poe to finish. He hadn't intended to upset the green blood only to remark on the danger of not being able to see past his horns. "I would saw my horns off in an instant," the blue blood said with confidence. He saw no reason to keep things like that if they were going to be a hindrance. "I do not wish to see society crushed because someone decided to take offense to a mistake such as this, which is why I commented. I did not mean for it to sound as a personal confrontation," he explained and held out his hand. He did find the pun funny, but he did his best to keep his neutral demeanor. He figured he'd like this troll. But the snappish way the green blood spoke gave Azrael the impression he was probably sensitive about his horns. " I meant, I could help with it, I mean your horns. I think.... You could probably keep a majority of it right around here." He touched the horn where the curve would be under the green blood's right eye. "You could see and it would frame your eyes most admirably I think," he then dropped his hand to recognize the introduction. He didn't think they got off on the wrong foot at all, but he didn't want to cause anymore unnecessary strife. "You did not get on my foot in the first place," Azrael pointed out. Whether he was joking or not was anyone's guess. "I am Azrael Mortis, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Poeias Claudy," he tried his best to sound dignified.

Eridia sneered back at the lowblood and sat next to her. She noticed someone's jacket and guessed it couldn't belong to the redblood. She put it to the side and chuckled as she matched that mischievous look with Psy's. "Let the games begin." She said to herself with her usual smirk. Surely she'd normally call her out for potentially lying, yet the child knew this way could either entertain her or humiliate her. A double-sided weapon so what? She knew a way around it.

"There are soooo many options here! The food's always good in buffets! Have you ever been to a buffet before this one?" As she talked, the purpleblood examined the food as quickly as she could, everything seemed harmless and the majority of it was recognizable. Stay focused. If anything she could still try shutting down her sense of taste even if she has barely practice doing so.

"Oh wait, I forgot... You're not up high as me, so the buffets you've probably attended are not as good. Chiiii, have you been to any good buffets lately??" By talking, she wanted to dry out her mouth, thus having an excuse to drink water. All part of her plan. She exhaled through her mouth, making it not so obvious and looked over at Chiara and Elidae. "Guuuuys! C'moooon!! Join us! There's plenty of space and food! Plus, I don't think she would mind." Eridia still had a smug smile on her face. "Now would you?"

Nictor Sabbat

At the sound of a voice so close to him, Nictor let out a strangled yelp sort of noise, giving a full body jerk that caused him to jostle the table in front of him, the loud noise of plates and cutlery clattering against each other ringing harshly in his ears. His head whipped up so fast one might expect to hear the snapping of vertebrae accompanying. He stared wide eyed, face coloring yellow with the rush of blood to his cheeks.

Tealblood. There was a tealblood talking to him. his mouth felt dry and tongue heavy and Nictor knew trying to form words right now wouldn't do him any good. He'd only seen one or two tealboods before, ones that decided to travel out to the Chittentown market to sell wares to the lower caste masses. But this one talked to him. Her offer processed after a few seconds and he could only blink after her retreating form in his befuddlement. Had she just offered for him to sit with her? Had that actually happened? What?

The disgruntled grumbling of the line growing behind him finally caught his attention, and Nictor backtracked on what the other troll has said to him. He was holding up the buffet line. Carefully shaking out his hands, and giving an clipped apologetic noise, Nictor focused on grabbing a plate and filling it with whatever dishes seemed to be closest.

Backing off from the table, Nictor breathed deep, watching the other trolls immediately rush through the space he'd emptied. but they all seemed content to ignore him. Feeling his shoulders loosen a little, Nictor began walking carefully towards the tables, trying to find somewhere quiet to settle down and wait out the whole event. The tealbood's suggestion was there, yes. Why would she do that? Why offer for him to sit wither her? Should he actually do it? He shivered a little. No, she was off talking to another yellowblood, which means he could slip away unnoticed now.

Unfortunately, that plan was nixed, as Nictor heard a another offer to sit being called out very close to him. Glancing quickly to the source, he found his eyes locked briefly on a young purpleblood at a table but a few yards away.

And there went any composure he was able to gain.

The poor kid went stiff, eyes going so wide you might expect they'd pop out of his skull. His shoulders hunched inward and hands clamped down painfully on his plate, some of the food squishing against his fingers. Purpleblood. Purple. A strangled keening noise escaped him as his face took on a muted look of horror, far too overwhelmed to really express it. Why here. Why now. The tealblood was bad enough, what did he do to deserve this. There weemed to be a rustblood, another yellowblood, and a blueblood near the table too but he couldn't tear his eyes away from Eridia.

Psykgi Mentha

Well, it wasn't the outcome she was hoping for, and probably not the outcome that the others were hoping for, but Psykgi didn't mind it at all. Interesting – so the spade lavenderblood was reacting by summoning reinforcements, including the tealblood that had invited her, the yellowblood that was with her, and another yellowblood? All to the same table?

Ooo, that's risky! she thought, studying the purpleblood. Risky indeed, and liable to backfire, but a play that promised to be interesting.

Psykgi had to hold back a laugh at her comment about the buffets, keeping the totally innocent smile on her face even as she snickered inwardly. Not as high as her? No s**t! Redblood? Purpleblood? No contest there, castewise! If Eridia thought that Psykgi would be embarrassed by a reference to her blood color (and how she was, interestingly enough, the lowest caste there) then she was sorely, sorely, mistaken.

”Would I?” Psykgi clapped her hand to her face in mock surprise – very much mock surprise, ”Oh goodness, why should I mind, unless you mean them. In which case, I don't know, do they mind?”

She smiled at the poor, upset yellowblood and offered him something sweet from her plate, winking at him as she awaited the purpleblood's next move.

Ok, wasn't expecting the yellowblood. Eridia tapped her fingers lightly on the table. She decided to adjust her plan, since she didn't think of the variables before hand. She was inviting her friend, plus Elidae, definitely not the other yellowblood. Doesn't matter... I can work with this. She exhaled, the highblood didn't want to lose her calm. He seemed terrified though. Did she do anything?

"Hey kid! C'mere, it seems like you've seen a ghost." She battered her eyes and smiled not-so-nicely at him to make the yellowblood even more nervous. "I know you are mesmerized with my looks but, that's ok!" She shrugged casually. "Who isn't?" Eridia laughed half-heartedly and looked back at Psy, who seemed mockingly surprised. That irked her. What? Why is her tone so... UGH! Is she up to something?

"It's great knowing that you don't mind. WHO'D MIND? " The child said a bit too bitter than intended. "WE'RE ALL GOING TO ENJOY MY LOVELY COMPANY." Quickly she cleared her throat, feeling it as dry as the desert itself. She hoped her taste buds wouldn't register any flavor by now. "WHY I CAN'T REMEMBER YOUR EXPLICIT DESCRIPTION OF THIS!" The child pointed at the least appealing food on her plate. "WOULD YOU MIND REMINDING ME DEEEEARY?"

XXXXXChiara Moteku
It was getting a little ridiculous. This back and forth between the redblood and Eridia. Of course Chiara sat at the table and had her purple blooded friend's back, but from what she wasn't exactly sure. The redblood was making a fool of herself, and Chiara was not finding her as interesting as she had hoped. Yeah she had sass, but her methods were timid if all she was going to do was talk up the food and have us all disappointed.

Chiara sat down at the table, and, with a bored expression, glanced at the two yellow bloods. Already the one was a tad bit intriguing, but this new yellow was another story. Did he just twitch and yelp? "Well come one! Sit on down you two!" Chiara said to the two, patting the bench next to her and looking expectantly at the two.

Nictor Sabbat

Nictor blinked a few times, struggling not to have a complete internal meltdown. He wished me could just phase through the floor to get away or maybe rewind time and pass on that free food and 'optional' sign up.

He'd been distracted by the redblood and her offer, but he couldn't have taken her up on it if he'd wanted to. His fingers were locked tight on his plate, arms and shoulders tense and strained. When the purpleblood spoke, one might think a gun had gone off nearby from Nictor's reaction. His whole body jolted back a couple steps, head snapping back to look at her, lips pressed into a thin line and big eyes and scared. His face crumpled into confusion when she implied him admiring his looks, not catching on to what she was getting at in the slightest. Then the blueblood joined in the cajoling, and another distressed hum sounded from him. Nictor swayed slightly, his eyes skittering around their surrounds, searching for some kind of escape. It would seem he found none though as his only response to the two was a jerky nod, before starting forward with stilted movements.

Left foot, right foot, breathe, left foot, right foot, breathe, left foot, left-right! Right foot! Breathe, breathe. Nictor approached the seating with some obvious reluctance and stilted, stumbling motions that made him look like he was about to keel over any second from how he was tipping. Some food items slid off his plate when one hand jerked oddly as he passed by the redblood too close for comfort, his own unsteady feet almost sending him in a direct crash course, but was diverted at the very last second. He winced as the food splattered on the ground, eternally grateful that it hadn't gone flying at Psykgi, and sped up his pace as much as he could while still trying to keep track of his limbs.

Eventually he made it to the seats and chose a spot with plenty of vacant space around him. Better to have arm room for when he inevitably made a mess of things. Glancing up a the purpleblood and blueblood from beneath his fluffy fringe, he hoped against hope that nothing went too horribly wrong. Belatedly, he internally patted himself on the back for not tripping and face planting in his own food. He was handling this whole encounter a lot better than he'd ever expected of himself if faced with a highblood.

Upon hearing Eridia's rising volume Hemera wheeled around to look at the tables. The situation was growing tense like she had thought it might. An uppity lowblood and a snotty highblood left plenty of room for some kind of skirmish, where people were supposed to eat together and enjoy each other's company, no less.
Hemera pushed up her glasses. This would not do.

Head held high, she strode back to her table, eyes on Psykgi and Eridia. "I think everyone here has the opportunity to have fun. That's what we're here for, but perhaps we should take a moment to breathe. It's been a bit of a harrowing night for all of us, especially if we're not from the area. I can sympathize. But maybe your version of the food was flavored or made differently," Mera said to Eridia. "These things happen." Turning to Psykgi with a look momentarily showing that she wondered what the hell this girl was thinking playing such games, she still kept it pleasant. "I don't think I've ever seen hair like yours before. Did you style it yourself or get it cut somewhere?" It may be a new trend she might not be aware of.
