Kage was caught off guard. He had not met someone who could resist his power, let alone fight back. His surprise was apparent as fear filled his eyes, the aura catching him off guard. His feet left the ground, the confusion enough to keep him from recovering on the way down. "S**t!" He landed with a hard thud causing a groan to escape as Ree pinned him to ground. "How the hell..." Kage looked around, the fear in his eyes becoming terror as he saw the broken glass and other objects threatening him mixed with the effects of the other Metas aura. He struggled helplessly as he slowly regained himself. He took in the situation quickly trying to assess it as Ree spoke. Seeing no other way out, he relaxed himself suppressing the urge to struggle further and and run away that Ree kept induced within him. "Well... That's a hard one to answer. I thought I was erasing your memories of me, but you see how well that went." He paused trying how to word his next answer. "I didn't want you to remember me so that I could have a clean slate if I returned." Obviously he hadn't intended to return, not unless necessary, but the better he covered his tracks the easier it would have been to do such if he had actually needed too. His body shivered as he looked at a piece of the glass that was a little close for comfort. "Can you put down the sharp objects, please? It's hard enough to keep my composure right now."Slow simple movements as to not cause alarm with Ree. Kage raised his hands above his head, the universal sign of surrender. "I give up."

He was erasing his memory? How the heck was he able to do that...more importantly if it were true then how wasn't he just a blank slate right now? His grip tighten born from anger and no small amount of fear as Kayle ..Kage whatever his name was raised his hands above his head. He could see the terror in the other meta's eyes, something that was reflected in his own. He shove him back and let go, moving off him quickly and putting some distance between them but never dropping the odds and ends he had floated up out of the grass. Maybe the humans weren't wrong in fearing them, they even fared each other. Questions..he had to question and losing control of his aura was not going to make things easier. Slowly he attempted to pull it back as he watched Kage warily, feet positioned one forward one back ready to support his weight. He managed not to have his aura at full strength but he couldn't bring it down to normal level with the turmoil and pain in his head. "Have a habit of trying to erase people's memories? " trying to act like what had happen didn't scare the heck out of him...that he didn't feel as if for some moment bits and pieces of himself were'nt trying to unravel. Wings feathers were puffed out and lowered slight, brushing uncomfortable against the pack. "Forget that. Why did you do it? Who are you working for?and Why are you here again Kylar Gatt?"

Kage let out a sigh of relief as the other Meta decided to move off of him. Finally able to move again he slowly got up, taking extra care not to startle Ree as the sharp objects still floated around him. He turned to face the Meta, a huge weight seeming to lift away as the aura weakened. Kage nodded his head at the question, "You could say that, I find it's best that people don't remember who I am." Now that he had a little more composure he began dusting off his clothing, laying on the ground was not conductive to a crisp clean appearance. At the first part of the next question Kage shrugged and began to answer when he was suddenly caught off guard again. Why are you here again Kylar Gatt?Kage froze, his eyes locked on Ree. That name was one Kage had never told anyone, not even before he erased their memories. It was the name inside of his Journal, a name which claimed to be his. When he finally spoke his confusion was apparent. "H-hoow the hell do you know that name?" He stood face to face with something he had been searching for, but now he was afraid. He was afraid of what he may find, afraid of what he may not find, afraid there was no answer to it all. Slowly he pulled himself together and refocused on the Meta as he decided to answer his questions. "I did it because I was looking for answers about who I am and I couldn't have anyone who saw me doing something suspicious report that to anyone else. I'm working for Kylar Gatt, or for myself more accurately although I don't know why. As for why I'm here, it may just be easier for you to read so that you don't think I'm lying. Kage removed the leather book bound by a cross section of fabric from his side and tossed it towards Ree, after undoing the lock.

Ree just narrowed his eyes at the other Shadow and didn't answer his question until he threw a book at him. Automatically he reached out and caught before flicking his gaze back at Kage almost as if expecting another attack. Once he saw none came he glanced down again, keeping kage in his peripheral vision as he stared down at the large eye in the middle of the cover and the keylock at it's center. The image itself was disturbing but nothing ominous as he flipped it open "...." looking at the only entry in the book itself past a lot of pages. He quickly read it and frowned before finally looking up. "You erased your own memory" he tapped the outside of the book with one finger, looking through the other pages before finally snapping it closed and tossing it back to him. It wasn't what he was expecting at all and that left him with a choice, one he was almost unwilling to make due to the circumstances and unlike Kage he couldn't go and make someone forget. Yet, he could also see how useful that ability was...and they really were desperate. The catch was if he could also remember at will... and why did he erase his memory and send himself here. Was he being chased perhaps? but he should have known he would be trying to find information on himself again.... or even in a worse case decided his hidden passion was to be a mime and move to Criel. "Can you bring your memory back?" stupid sounding question that all assumptions pointed to being unable, but it would give him information if he could or couldn't even at a minimal level. Going from the last few words of the entry it seemed like he could...eventually. He waited for Kage to answer his questions before attempting to answer the question of how he knew...and maybe give him an offer.

Kage stood there silently, unmoving, while Ree examined the book. He wanted to make a break for it, but he didn't think he would succeed so it was a wasted thought. When the book was tossed back he caught it, the eye blinking as it was locked and returned to its place at his side. "I did, although I couldn't tell you why. I've been trying to find that out myself." He answered the first question about erasing his own memory as he finished repositioning the book. "Can you bring your memory back?" Kage shook his head. It was a simple response and he thought for a moment before speaking to expand his answer. "I can not. The memories can return on their own, however with enough stimulation. That is of course assuming I simply sealed them away instead of destroying them. Either one of those is possible, but given the message I wrote myself I believe they are only sealed."

Ree repressed a shiver at the mention of actually destroying a memory. Memories were.... well biological signals to the neuron in a pattern but they also were what made you up. Your personality , your thoughts and ideas ..everything. Even if forgotten that experience was there to have shaped you, but never having the memory... would you still be you? It was a power that was much to dangerous to let loose or even let fall into Renegade hands. Yet he wasn't even sure how he could take him in if he refused, short of just warning the others to capture him and -that- wouldn't be a good start. Then there was the fact it didn't work on him....a fluke? if it was.. Ruffling his feathers then shaking his wings to reorganize them, cursing the stupid backpack mentally, he tried to relax and project at least a sense of being less tense. Slowly he let go of the pieces of rocks and glass he had picked up until there was nothing floating around them. Sealed.... could still be a spy even if not of the renegades maybe another facility either private or not... again a risk. "I read your file. You won't find much here, assuming you talked to the headmaster and they had nothing interesting to say. " he tried to say mildly "but if you are looking for a place to help you.. maybe even help you recover your memories, I might know of one. " he stopped knowing that was enough to bait them if he was interested enough, but he pushed on anyways. " in exchange for any help you can give them.."

Ree shivered and for a moment there Kage thought he saw fear. He wasn't sure what that was about, but forgot about it as it passed, literally. He watched the wings as they repositioned themselves expecting an attack of some form to come, but it never did. As the circle of debree fell to the ground he let out a sigh of relief and began to pay more attention to the other Meta, not because he expected an attack but because he knew the danger had passed and he needed to know everything about Ree, especially why he was immune. Kage shook his head, "I didn't speak with them, like I said earlier you were the first person I met here." He looked at the other Meta confused, read his file? He wondered how Ree had seen his file, but it made sense if he knew who he was before. As he offered the bait Kage bit questioning the last part. "What kind of help do they need?"

Ah haha moment of truth now wasn't it? "Help against the Renegades " he pitched his voice low not knowing who could be around listening. " A group of metas that have been indiscriminately causing trouble for humans. A good thing" he said trying not to sound to sympathetic to humans. "But also hurting any chances metas have for rights... or even acceptance" he would have smirk but his words sounded wrong to him, sounded to obvious. blah. Interesting though, that he didn't meet with the headmaster... he might have given him more information .. maybe.... or maybeit was the perfect chance. Rhuan was still much of a mystery to the SIU as to everyone else.

Kage listened to Ree explain things, although he had already decided. Short of hearing something terrible that prevented him from joining in good conscience he wanted to find out everything he could as quickly as possible. It was already apparent that the school wasn't going to be much help since their files were twenty years old, but also the security there was abysmal. Who in their right mind would leave the Administration computer unlocked while the office was empty? He had no clue that it had been locked moments before his entry or how lucky he had been since the first clue he had about himself only came from Ree snooping at the same time. He nodded as the other Meta finished speaking allowing it all to sink in. "So basically you need help against the Metas that are making life harder for the rest of us? You make it sound like there is a choice there. I believe the saying goes 'The Nail that sticks out gets hammered down.' If that's all it takes to get help figuring out my past then consider them the nails and myself a hammer. He grinned pleased with the metaphor himself even if it was a little cocky. There was nothing he was able to do against Ree, what hope did he have against a terrorist group. Kage was a typical teenager in this regard though, impulsive, confident and arrogant. Kage approached Ree, this time he didn't extend his hand however as it was unlikely Ree would shake with him any time soon if ever again. Once satisfied at the distance he spoke quietly, "Alright, where do I sign or what do we do?"

Ree couldn't help but tilt his head slightly and look quizzical. " Hammered down or taken out " he corrected, knowing Kage would get his drift if worded that way. " You do have a choice" he nodded. " you have a choice until the moment you step into that car " he said with a sigh, knowing he shouldn't be telling him this and just agreeing and calling up SIU and letting them deal with it. Still Kage looked young, like a teenager who didn't know what he was getting himself into even so age wise Kage was much older than him. Yay for different aging rates...not. There was a sharp warning look as Kage stepped closer but he didn't back down either, controlling his fear and standing his ground until Kage just stopped. " Grab what you need and head back to town. Wait at the corner of market and Garland near Albano Park. A car will come pick you up, it will be black and will open the back side doors for you, state your true name and your absorbed item. don't except any small talk they won't talk to you. You have until you get in to change your mind "

Kage nodded and without a word turned to leave. He raised his hand and waved over his shoulder as he headed towards the edge of the school. He kept on the ground until reaching the edge of the forest just outside of school grounds. After a short distance into the trees Kage seemed to float up into the sky before making a b-line towards the town.
The sky was already dark as he waited on the corner of Garland that was closest to Albano Park. A dark car approached and Kage shuddered with anticipation. He was close to answers, perhaps closer than he had ever been and on top of that someone would need him. He almost forgot to speak, but luckily he came too in time. "Ohh, right. Kylar Gatt, Lock and Key" He crawled into the car taking a huge step toward the rest of his life, better or worse there was no going back now.
