Chal though back to a week earlier, when Alma had attempted to explain an alpaca to him without having ever seen one herself. He had a hard time picturing it then, but now seeing this long necked and fluffy creature in front of him he was fairly certain that this was an alpaca. He could have never thought up something like this for sure. "Nice to meet you Aloki," Chal responded, not forgetting about the male that was escorting the animal. "I'm Chal and this is Alma," and we are on a date, he added in his mind, with a little bit of pride. It seemed interesting for him to introduce their names together, he had mostly done it because it seemed Alma had forgotten to in her excitement about the alpaca, but he kind of liked it too. He raised his eyebrows in amusement and joined in the bowing fun. Chal could see where the hospitality renown had come from, and he could also see how much Alma was trying to restrain herself. Chal was restraining himself too, from chuckling at how adorable Alma was being over the animal, which the male had confirmed to be an alpaca. "Wow, she knows we are coming?" Chal spoke in surprise, at Aloiki's talk of his mother preparing something for them.

Fascinated by Zoe, Alma didn't even relaze her slip in manners until Chal introduced herself as well. For a moment her eyes grew wide and she gained a very guilty look one would think she'd left a brick out for Tora to trip over again. She leaned her should against Chal and gave him a grateful smile.
Reaching her hand out she asked, "Can I pet her?" It was getting late to ask that question but as she could see the lovely creature showed no aggression.Aloiki noted their actions towards one another. It was clear he wasn't going to get anywhere with Alma with their feelings pretty clear. Ah well, next lovely lady to respond to the allure of the Alpaca. Smiling all the same he stated, "She is but may shy away. She'll have to get used to you." For her part the alpaca hadn't moved away but was watching the female closely.
To answer Chal's question he chuckled and said, "Sometimes I think she can sense that someone is coming. My sister Kara saw you two coming." Kara had the same bit, always on the look out for anyone or anything coming around the ranch.

Chal gave Alma an understanding look, he knew how excited she was about this. He was excited too, but he also wanted to let Alma have the chance to enthuse over the alpaca first. He wondered how long Alma would restrain herself from just jumping on the alpaca and riding away (could you even ride on an alpaca, he didn't know). It wasn't long at all before Alma reached out to the alpaca at least. He raised his eyebrows again at the mention that the alpaca might shy away, and made note to keep himself fairly still and not try to pet the alpaca with Alma, he didn't want to overwhelm the creature. "Oh, huh." He responded, his voice noticeably more quiet. He hadn't seen anyone else while they were on the road, but he could easily believe that he wouldn't have noticed if there had been someone else. "Mother's intuition is something else, isn't it?" Chal would know, his mother Dyas always seemed to know when something was up. He was pretty sure that she knew he was smitten with someone too, but just hadn't brought it up.

Alma reached forward the rest of the way too fast causing Zoe to back up and walk away. For her part Alma looked deflated pouting that the adorable animal just walked off. All she wanted to do was love it! Aloiki had chuckled at Chal nodding, "It sure is." How his mother just seemed to know was crazy. The alpaca also seemed to know when they were going to work on one of the cria. As Zoe backed away and turned back to the herd, Aloiki watched her fist before looking back to the clearly disheartened Alma.
Considering for a moment, he snapped his finger and brought the idea forward, "Come to the barn, we have alpaca treats. Bribery always wins animal friends" Turning smoothly he walked towards the barn at a leisurely pace.
Leisurely wasn't a word Alma knew as she went forward without hesitation. It was only when she reached the end of their combined arm lenght that she remembered she was connected to Chal. Stopping to shoot him a sheepish smile, the nymph turned again and was at least waiting for Chal to start moving before she went off again.

Chal was surprised and not surprised when the alpaca backed off. It made sense that Alma's high energy would be a bit too much for the animal, but he still felt back for Alma. He reached his free hand across his body so that he could give Alma a sympathetic shoulder rub. He had to hand it to her, the pout was adorable. Hopefully the bribery suggestion would work, he didn't want Alma to be disappointed by their alpaca date. He laughed as Alma just about ran off with his arm, but he wasn't about to slow her down either. Chal was just going to have to learn to keep up with her, so he joined her in her anything-but-leisurely pace.

Having Chal there was comforting, his actions running with her earned him a huge smile and a giggle. The race was on! By the look alone it was easy to see the barn and already being open there was no need to wait.Aloiki was not used to Alma at all. He had completely paused and just stared as they bound past him. He was making a very bad tour guide if the tour just left without him. Giving a deep sigh he started moving again to catch up.Not moving fast enough, Alma was in the barn and looking at the walls of all things. The animals resting had moved on out when she bound in likely for the same reason as the alpaca. As they had made their way out, Alma was looking around and noting the construction of the structure. She was analyzing what could have been done better but over all pretty impressed with the work. It was more hearing Aloiki and having Chal with her that restrained her enough. Reaching the barn, Aloiki took back being the tour guide. He was half surprised she hadn't managed to find the treats on her own and started feeding the curiously empty barn. Walking over the been he explained, "Most of the girls love carrots. Zoe probably the most out of all of them." By opening the container half the heads in the herd popped up out of sight but certainly not out of ear shot. Figuring it was safer, the sprite handed the carrots slices to Chal. It was either safer of funnier he hadn't decided.

Chal was kind of surprised with himself for just taking off without their tour guide, but he was just flowing with things now. It was fun running off with her towards the barn, forgetting for a moment that they were being watched. He looked around the empty barn, noticing that their grand entrance had caused everyone to vacate. It seemed that these animals were going to need a calmer spirit, which didn't seem to be something that would mix well with Alma. She was going to be so disappointed. Chal knew he was going to have to do something to help. "Ah, thanks." Chal said, accepting the carrots from Aloiki. Hopefully this would be the right thing to get the animals used to Alma's spirit. Chal's head turned from side to side as he looked around for any animals he might be able to entice with the carrot slices. When he found one, he let go of Alma's hand for just a moment as he slowly approached the animal, the carrot slice held out. "Just one second." The male said to Alma with a wink of his eye. Hopefully he could get the animal used to him and then help Alma be able to pet it.

The grand lady herself, Zoe, lead the inquisitive herd towards the barn as the smell of carrots drew their attention. The alpaca stood back a few moments as her natural wariness warred with allure of carrots. The treats won out as she approached Chal with some caution but balanced out by inquisitiveness. Her ears went everywhere trying to stay honed in on the different players. Mainly one very excitable female bouncing not far from the carrots. Reaching out her next she gave a good sniff to the treats. There was no asking as she went for a slice.
For her part Alma was waiting in place, only not completely still. The creatures were so amazing it was hard not wanting to bust forward and hug their necks. Surely they felt like stuffed animals!

Chal smiled softly as the alpaca accepted his treat. Carefully and slowly he reached his free hand towards the animal. "There you go, that's a good... Girl." He whispered to the creature. He let her have the carrot while he stroked her coat. It felt so soft and warm. Then, he looked behind his shoulder as he reached for Alma's hand, never forgetting about her. In fact, he was doing this for her because he knew how badly she wanted to touch the alpaca. Chal gave Alma a reassuring look as he helped guide her hand slowly to Zoe. "That's a good girl," he said to the alpaca as he now watched her to make sure she wasn't freaking out too much.

Zoe happily ate her favorite treat more then tolerant of being patted as she did so. Everything was just fine until she noted the energy change, Turning her head just enough from her carrot, she saw the others hands go to her fur. Even the carrots weren't quite enough to convince her to stick around much longer. With one more greedy take, the alpaca herd leader headed off to calmer pastures. Aloiki was very impressed though, "You have a gift with the animals, Chal." If they ever had a petting zoo or the like, Chal would be invaluable. To Alma he reassured her, "Alpaca are skittish even when used to others. If you give her time." Offering his own reassuring smile to Alma. He had to wondered if there were any animals on the ranch that would do better with her energy.
If they had dogs for herding she'd be fine a high energy working animal like that would be drawn to her. A hand on his chin worked back and forth as he kept thinking. There wasn't anything he could do today about it today. Even still there were ideas going on ways to grow the ranch and different draws for visit. Alma squealed a little thrilled to feel the fibers. It didn't last long but she wasn't so disappointed. She got to touch the alpaca! Giddy, she hugged Chal grateful for the small moment with his help. Their guide offered his own nugget of hope, "They could get used to me? Oh we have to keep trying!" The trip was fairly long but the goal was most noble!

Alma may not have been disappointed, but there was a clear look of disappointment on Chal's face as the alpaca turned away. His lips moved from side to side in thought as Aloki complemented him on his way with animals. He had wanted so desperately to give Alma more than just that brief moment with the alpaca. He certainly didn't feel like he had a way with animals right now. If he had, his plan for getting the alpaca to let Alma touch it would have worked. "Yeah, I'm sure you're right." Chal agreed. He had never met an alpaca before so he had no idea how they acted, but he was sure that Aloiki knew what he was talking about and hopefully Alma would get her moment with them eventually. They were just going to have to take many, many dates to the farm. Chal had no argument with that. At least he had gotten a hug out of his mostly failed attempt, his disappointed face turned into a calm smile at that as he practically melted into a puddle. "We'll keep trying." He reassured Alma with a firm nod of his head.

Aloiki noticed the look over the excited female. Offering a smile he added, "Its almost Cria season, there will be a lot of babies running around." The word was used as if he expected them to know what a cria was. The baby alpaca could be much more cuddly. Alma smiled warmly at Chal, cheering at his agreement, "Yay!" The prospect of spending more time with Chal overruled even the allure of the alpaca. It took a few moments before Alma had to admit something though, "A cry ah?" Okay, there was a word she'd never heard before. Aloiki amended his statement, feeling just a little embarrassed, "A baby alpaca is called a cria, the herd is about to grow by a lot." Still not sure where to put all of them but he wasn't about to mention that one. The flash of hot pink caught his gaze as the male looked around the couple. It couldn't be it. No, Cora had gotten rid of the thing.
Alma's words pulled him out of his concern when she asked where the new where the new babies would be staying ,"Kara, Dad and myself will just have to put up more structures. We are doing better at making them safer." That last part didn't need to be said, oh dear. To their credit none of the herd had been hurt but learning to build had been a bit of a process. Alma was thinking now, she was a great builder and they were obviously going to need more buildings for the growing herd. If she had to be around them to get them used to her then maybe there was something she could do two objectives at once.

Chal raised his eyebrows as Aloiki spoke of some sort of season. He tried to think of any season that he knew of that was coming up, but apparently babies were coming. It wasn't long before the answer was given. Chal nodded his head in understanding. He would certainly have to come back here with Alma for that, the babies would probably be adorable. Chal could practically see the gears in Alma's head turning as the male started speaking about their building prospects. He wondered if it would be too bold of him to comment about her building abilities, it was practically volunteering her to help out... And she always seemed to mention how many projects there were that she wanted to work on... Could she really take on more? It seemed to him that she might appreciate the complement, "Alma is a very talented builder, she was showing me some of her ideas earlier, she might have some tips for you."

She was the builder? Aloiki turned to the nymph and before he could speak, she started up. Alma was pulled right out of the building space when Chal mentioned her. Beaming proudly she gave his hand a squeeze and jetted off before their guide had even started to breath his first words, "Oh I'd love to help! I can make bricks if you the stones and put them together without mortar. Guaranteed Alma approved! Gotta have Chal's help" Pointing up to the ceiling, "Add in moveable boards and a gap by the roof and you'll allow cool air in and get warmer air out to make the fluffies more comfortable. Maybe you'll need a few more houses and different buildings? Ooo stone pins could be easier to clean." Hopping and making gestures to various places outside the barn as she 'explained. In talking about the roof idea she'd be playing with, Alma buzzed off the floor but stayed tethered to Chal by choice. If it weren't for him she'd be all over the barn by now.
Aloiki was afraid to speak once she got going. The words that had started in is mouth died and he just had to figure out how to shut his jaw. Finally not slackjawed, the sprite remained silent for several minutes longer just to see if she was going to keep with the ideas. Not that they weren't great but that energy and well, enthusiasm.
It was great, she had an amazing skill if her words indicated what she could do with her talent. What 'Alma approved meant was anybodies guess. At this point he was guessing it took off flying.
With a deep breath he smiled and responded, "Your help and energy would be very welcome, Alma. We have an used spare bedroom in the house for you and Chal to stay if you wish. We'd love to have you." There was a bit of concern if it was just Alma by herself, Chal seemed to understand her and would probably help the rest of them get used to her. He was great with the alpaca as a whole.
The room in question had never been used as far back as he could remember it was certainly big enough for a couple.

Chal's eyes grew wide as Alma began talking about all the ways she could help, he was used to her energy, but she still managed to surprise him. Because he was used to it, his face relaxed quickly. However, he could hardly keep up with all the things she was saying, but knew that she knew what she was talking about. At some point he had heard his name and the male really had no idea how he could help, but he would do whatever was needed of him to the best of his ability. Chal froze up as Aloiki mentioned a room for the two of them. As in, a room together. He looked at their linked hands, something that he had quickly grown used to. They certainly looked like a couple, even if the hand holding was about as far as things had gotten. His eyes followed up Alma's brightly colored arm until they rested on her face, to see how she reacted to it. He liked, even loved the idea of it, but it was a fast step and he was a slow mover. Alma moved fast though... And he was doing better at keeping up with her unique rhythm. "Thank you, that would probably be wonderful." Chal's eyes were steady on Alma as he spoke. It wasn't as if they were starting this project today anyways... though with Alma, starting something immediately was entirely possible.
