Mark just continued to stare as what remained of the tendrils fell to the ground, and Sherry continued to smack an ever-increasing dent on the floor. Someone was not going to be happy, but that really wasn't his problem.
He blinked a few times before cluing in to Sherry's request, looking around blindly at piles and piles of boxes and instruments of probably things that were sealed but way too mediocre to be actually treated with any level of importance. "What does the box look like?"
The hand just continued to grow back after each smack, despite the ring having fallen off a while ago, disappearing under one of the piles.

"It was the one with the finger in it!" How could he forget that? "Oh never mind watch the hand!" Sherry turned long enough to find the damn box again. It wasn't terribly hard to find, since it was still at the edge of the Other pile. Against her better judgement, Sherry went ahead and desummoned her weapon, grabbed the plan-hand and shoved it back in it's box. "What is this? Do you have any tape? Nails? Rope?"

"Well as least you're not destroying actual property now," Mark shouted, scouring through the Furniture pile for potential tape, nails and/or a rope. Who taught Sherry to fight like that anyway - Sun division?
He came up with a measuring tape and passed it to Sherry, watching her shove the hand back in the box. The box didn't move once the lid had been placed on top. "God I like go post my meta po- go pee and - and - why were you opening boxes and touching things?"

"What? I was trying to destroy the hand that was growing from that thing." She looked at the measuring tape and sighed, setting the box down and placing the measuring tape on top of it. "Look I just wanted to know more about it's ring. I'm investigating such things." She shrugged. "Dragon rings and truth things. The hand was pretty interested in my ring, too." Her ring was safe, though. "Okay, okay. I won't touch anything that looks dangerous or plant-like. We just need to organize this stuff into piles, right?" Sherry was hoping that Mark would forget all about her opening that box and scuffing up the floor.

"Wait wait wait," Mark held his hand out for the box, "you're investigating rings? I mean not to burst your bubble or anything but I think the amount of dragon shaped magical rings that also happen to be artifacts may be limited to the single digits of one."
A pause. "Or two. Look, the point being, I uh, think your ring obsession is getting out of hand," Mark didn't even notice that pun, "and like, how about a new hobby like, uhhhh needlepoint, or like, seashell collecting, anything but searching all the rings that would unite them all and in your darkness bind them."

"Truth be told," she held the box out in his direction, "I'm investigating anything that might possibly be related to Steve here." She held up her left hand to show off the ring. "There is a lot of information, mostly rumors, floating around about some of these things, but not this one." She shrugged. "Wait. Two? Have you heard of another one?" She needed to know, Mark. "It's not an obsession. Really. I swear I'm not going to try and rule over everyone with an evil ring." Never mind the dragon had mentioned things about her being a leader. She just kept that to herself. "I have hobbies. I just- I-" She really didn't have any besides learning how to cook, and she hardly did that as of late. "But yes, rings and truth items and dragons." She went back to the original subject because it was better. "So yeah. If you have any information you wouldn't mind sharing let me know."

Mark sighed. "Look, are any of your hobbies obtainable through Amazon, because I'll dealer some stuff for you, but only if it helps you take an edge off your ring addiction thingy. And in the two two five days of shipping in between we should practice being normal. Normal enough to help me figure out if this is an office item."
It was a book, bound in black, that said THE DARK HANDBOOK OF DARKNESS, in equally black print that was only readable because the print was just slightly darker than the book.
Before Sherry could answer however, Mark had already thrown it into the Furniture pile. "Okay I wasn't going to correct you, but now I have to because it's really bugging me, but like, rings, and truth items, and dragons are like three totally and I mean super totally different things. Are we talking rings and dragons and truth items because now you've got one extremely specific topic of which I will not name. Like have you pegged it down to Fear effects or artifacts and does RPing count?"

"I-" She was trying to think of something that could pass for a hobby, and even she knew everything was available on Amazon, but Mark was moving pretty fast. "That's-" she said, staring at the book, but he was already tossing it aside. Sherry stared after the book. Books didn't go in furniture, Mark. That was wrong. Even if it looked like it might be evil or something, a book shouldn't be treated that way. "I'm more interested in where they overlap, yes. I drew a Venn-diagram about it, if you want to see," she was reaching into her pocket even as she moved to the furniture pile, her free hand picking up the Book of Darkness and moving it to Office Supplies. "Artifacts," she added. "RPing?"

"Rping, role-playing, but like writing you know. Creating entire worlds, building metas, tagging people and creating entirely complicated realistic ships that have nothing to do with your sexual orientation-" He suddenly stopped and froze, for some reason staring at a point behind Sherry.
"Uhhhh I mean hey, how's that uh, Venn diagram yeah, cool right, so glad we're doing the research together of the things and also you are totally helping me organize and not a traitor."

She knew what it was, Mark, but she wasn't sure what RPing had to do with artifacts. "Right," she said nodding, though it was while he was talking and very quiet. Mark freezing and staring at something was a far more terrifying experience than Sherry ever would have imagined it would be. Maybe it was because of the office she was in, maybe it was because Mark usually just talked through whatever. "Um, it's fine, right here," she said, opening her notebook while she turned to see what Mark was looking at. Or who. It was probably a who. Please let it be a what and not a who.

And then Mark and his lead were both looking at Sherry's notebook.
"Inaccurate," Caelius stated, somehow navigating through the piles back to his desk. He flipped through several folders worth of printed inventory before sitting down to manually check through all the items on the list, ignoring the two entirely.
"It's -it's good," Mark consoled, "I uh, I like that, that the circles overlap, that's just that's uh, that's- well, you started something and that's cool right?"

Sherry froze at the sight of Caelius. She'd tried to kill him. Well, not her really but close enough, and she had forced him to answer about what he wanted, and- He was walking to his desk. Just like that. Sherry didn't move, other than her gaze following after Caelius. He was just going to ignore her? Okay. Cool. Sherry could be very happy with that. Very, very happy. "Huh?" Sherry turned back to Mark. What was good? Circles? Oh. Oh! Sherry smiled and closed the notebook. "Thanks, Mark. Thanks. I'm glad you think so." That hadn't been what she was thinking about at all, but it was very nice of him to try and make her feel better about her diagram being crap and wrong (apparently). "Thanks," she said again. "You're a pal." She stood there quietly for a moment, before moving closer to Mark. Close enough to whisper, "What do you think he meant by "inaccurate'? Can you ask?"

"You ask," Mark hissed back. A second later, "No, wait, don't ask, I'll ask. Or, we could leave, and pretend I finished everything, and I'll even like, I'll get you a beer on the house."
Without waiting for a yes or no, Mark began to bodily tug Sherry with one arm away, very quietly navigating through some of the piles that were a little more on the scattered side.
They made it about as far as the doorframe when the Death lead looked up straight at her. "Your ring, Sherry."

Sherry had to admit, Mark probably had the right idea. Just leave it be. She was a little reluctant at first, but after another moment of thought she was more than willing to follow him out of that office. Sherry finally understood what a bro was. Mark was a good bro, dragging her out a situation before she could make it worse. Or tying to, at least. She froze up again when Caelius addressed her. Oh, hell. Running wasn't even really an option or a thought. Sherry sighed and patted Mark on the arm gently - a silent thank you. "Beer later, maybe?" She whispered it. Then she was navigating her way back through the piles towards the Lead's desk. "Will I get it back, Sir?" She had to know ok.

"You do not have the authority to make requests", the Death lead said quietly. "The ring."
If Sherry tried to take off the ring however, she couldn't, the second she got even a step closer to the desk there was a roaring in her ears, like thousands of gold pieces clinking all at once into scales. Something gripped at her heart and refused to let go, whispering to her this ring was hers and hers alone.
