"Fine. Don't apologize." He said, letting that go and seeming more to have tested the waters more than actually wanting it done. At least Rodney was firm on some things.
"I left because the only indication I had that you two wanted each other was when I come back from a mission worried to see you two ******** and follow up with the whole marriage. I wanted distance to process. I couldn't go from one way things were two two people I lived with and thought were one way go completely another and then just take that in like it was nothing. To stay in a house where you two casually continued on like it was nothing. And I said I wanted to ******** him and would because he said that himself. I can't be to blame for a lot of mixed messages."
To which he looked at Lawr. Sighing, he got up and moved to one of the dressers and fished out a notebook and some pens before walking over and dropping it off on the table.
"If Lawr wants to be a better person, then that's fine. If he has a hope and desire, then I honestly think that's a good thing. If he can deal with going against his feelings of sabotaging himself by addressing the issues that make him feel cages rather than running, then who am I to stop that. I just don't want loopholes. I don't want people being taken advantaged of because everyone says one thing and then says something else. I'm not good with vagueness either. If I'm told something, I tend to take it to heart even if I'm getting wiser through the years not to fully trust words."
"You can stay here if he wants you. You two can marry if you want to. You can try as many times though I do worry about what might happen to the both of you in the process from personal experience and from past history. At least I'm actually involved in the discussion this time." He grumbled and sat back down.
"You can hate me if you want. I understand. But staying here and being here for Lawr like I always have been is what I want. Being included is what I want. I don't like being alone just as the two of you."
"I won't ******** him, but I want to be very clear and laid out rules on what contact is permitted. I don't want to be blamed for anyone slipping." And he looked at Lawr. "And I don't want you pissed at me if I say No just because you feel your control challenged. I love you, and I don't want you hurt either based on my actions on something you told me you wanted before but in a moment changed your mind on. Okay?"

"Are you...sure you're asking for specifics because you don't want loopholes, instead of because you do want loopholes?" Rodney asked warily.
He didn't think he'd have any difficulty saying no, at least.
Rodney was usually more cooperative.
It's just that today, he wasn't feeling much like it. He had stopped by H's office, but it had, for once, been locked, and he still had the apple in his pocket.

It took a lot of effort for Lawrence to talk about his feelings, or rather to talk about what he thought about people and events. He'd talked, he'd tried to be as clear as he could be and now things were off in some other vaguely hostile place where he had no means to navigate.
He didn't want Melvin to leave, and of all things he was certain of that, as certain as he was that he wanted to try and make things work with Rodney. This was his compromise, and if he couldn't have it, he was willing to scrap the whole idea.
He didn't say that.
He didn't say anything, just silently looked at the carpet and let them argue out whatever they would.

"I want definition. I want structure. I don't want these....situations to keep happening where everything says one thing and then something else happens and everyone winds up not knowing what is what and where up and down is. Isn't mixed messages what keeps coming up all the time. This is how I problem solve. If you have another way, something other than just letting things happen over and over, then say it. Isn't some vagueness what let you and Lawr start your relationship and the feelings that lead to you finally wanting to ******** him? What would happen if something happens and you get upset, Lawr gets confused because he thought it was okay, and then I get blamed for being some sort of temptation? I'm...... trying not to break." He managed before looking from Rodney to Lawr.
"You want a compromise, but it's not just Rodney and I. You are a part of this. Say something."

"No s-sex," Rodney said, as if this was the most plain and obvious thing in the world. "Do...I have to list- acts? And if- I miss one, are you going to assume it's alright? Oh this is, I wish we had more time, before we had to do this, I'm still- look, fine," he submitted, a little strangled, "H-hugging, is okay, not cuddling, handshakes, you know, if you want to...pat a shoulder, or, carry- someone from a dangerous situation. But that's all. Nothing, nothing else. No...no other kinds of sex either, l-like, no- nude photos, or, suggestive texts, or phone calls, or talking about...details of our relationship, in that way, just- just keep conversations G-rated." He wrung his hands miserably, and conceded, "Now, look, if something- happens, and any of us...under a magical effect, I'm not saying it's alright, just that-" he looked at Lawrence, "if you have your senses, then- I expect the same- complete faithfulness- of you. And you shouldn't go...seeking out situations where you have your senses relieved. But, if, through...no fault of your own, if any of us...were to go outside the relationship in that situation, we'll- we'll deal with it, but I won't...treat it the same as deciding to be unfaithful. I just- have to acknowledge- that could happen to anyone, any day, including me..."

Lawrence listened to Rodney's list of permissible acts with the same defiant silence as before and nodded in agreement with the terms. It was what he expected.
Melvin got a hopeless look though. "I don't know what you want me to say." he said, softly. "Any time I say something things usually go horribly horribly wrong. Generally me shutting up is the best solution, people get upset when I can't understand where their emotions are coming from effectively."

"Fine. I agree to your terms, Rodney. If I have questions, I'm sure I can just talk or text you before anything comes up. As for talking about relationships, if I'm Lawr's friend, I'm guessing he can't come to me if he wants to come to someone for advice?" He ventured to ask because a big part of being a friend was being a person you trusted to ask even personal questions when things were difficult.
As for Lawr, he breathed out. "You need to at least say what's on your mind. If you can't tell it to us, then who can you talk to? If you have concerns or worries about all of this, it needs to be addressed when we are all together than you worrying we are going to get pissed off and just sitting on it before it becomes a issue later."
He looked at the notebook and looked around. "Maybe we should think about talking together more often."

Rodney still did not seem as thrilled as Melvin.
"About...us? Just...just not- I don't know," Rodney reddened, hating this, "bedroom advice."

"What is on my mind is usually offensive to everyone." he said. "And my only worry about all of this is that it won't work and I'll lose one or both of you."

"That can be between you and Lawr to talk about that. I'll keep that distance too." He said, leaning back and setting his head on one hand as he looked between both of them.
"Well, talk when you want to talk."
He went quiet. "The floor is yours gentlemen. What else needs to be talked about? What needs to be aired out? I'm guessing you are moving in and being in the main bedroom." Thank future planning that they made the rooms soundproof.

Lawrence nodded. "You can obviously have any room you like other than that." He didn't want to upset Rodney further when obviously he was annoyed about the idea of Melvin being there at all, but he didn't want to feel like anything was sneaking around any more.
"Is it still all right for me to make meals for everyone?"

Rodney was annoyed.
For everyone. Why wouldn't meals be alright? Meals weren't the problem.
"Yes," he said quietly, and then sighing, "But I think I've had enough talking."
