Character: Amarynthos, Knight of the Moon Location: J9 Target: Grid 4 Action: Staying near Ephesus near Grid 4 Roll: 18
Amarynthos was wiling his adrenaline not to drop, so he had to do everything in his power to keep moving, like he could trick his body into staying in overdrive. There wasn’t much he could do to hide his bloody sleeve so he didn’t bother trying. He wore a bright smile, as if that might be enough to convince anyone who saw him that he was fine without them having to ask.
“Effie, I promise. I’m okay. It hurts a little, but I don’t even think it’s bleeding anymore. I promise, I’ll tell you if it starts bothering me. And after all of this is over, you can give me a checkup. And if you’re not totally happy, you can use the rest of your magic on me. And,” he swung Ephesus’ hand while they walked, “Maybe you should spend the night with me. Just to make sure I don’t open up a wound or something.”
He squeezed Ephesus’ hand, trying to keep things playful.
Truthfully, he really was sure that his arm was fine. Ephesus’ magic had been almost instantaneous, so despite the blood loss, he didn’t think there was any lasting damage to worry about. Just in case, he reached into his subspace and pulled out a sugar-rich energy bar, peeling it open.
He took a big bite while they had a moment of stillness, and then offered it to Atticus while he looked over the same panel as Ephesus.

Character Name: Sailor Vilenius, DSS of Melancholy Location: H10 Target: General Room Action: POORLY looking around the room with Kemi; he is dramatic, the room is lovely Roll: 8 but he deserves a 1
As Vilenius entered the room with Kemi, his expression immediately settled into something dissatisfied. He was still squinting, eyes sensitive from the light. He rarely made a nice face, and now was no exception. He had both hands fisted into his eyes, rubbing as if the pressure would ease the sensitivity.
In some ways, it soothed the burn.
In other ways, he was just making it worse.
Like a petulant child, he rubbed his eyes harder as if that would improve his efforts.
“This place looks stupid,” he said. It looked less so when he wiped the wetness from his eyes and could see through the blurriness, but his pride had been wounded in the last room so he felt an obligation to lash out at this one.
The room probably took emotional damage much better than he did.

Character: Lisse, Knight of LysitheaLocation: J4 Target: Grid 3 Action: Resentful, Jealous, teenage angst, chatting with Dering Roll: 12 Lisse had slipped the bee wings into subspace before he followed his brother, and honestly, felt a surge of resentment at the unnecessary telling off. He very nearly shot back that she had asked for their help and he hadn’t done anything that others hadn’t done…except maybe take the pretty wings for his own but…that was fine. Nobody had told him off for it, other than Halle.
Truthfully, he was sulking, he flashed Dering a warm smile though, seeing his friend always made things a little bit better, but then as the hot Knight answered something that Halle said, and did it without making a face or jumping backwards or glaring or making the sign of the cross or sprinkling holy water or turning into a goon…and it made a sick feeling other than resentment bubble up in his chest, and so he moved closer to Dering, gently bumping his shoulder. “...You okay after that? Truthfully, I’ve got nothing for this part…I was hoping…not hoping it would just be a fight the enemy and win the day but…that might have been easier.”
Normally he would try to be showing off. Try to be doing anything but…
Right now? The logic side of his brain was utterly shut down.

Character Name: Super Sailor Kemi, DSS of Deception Location: H10 Target: General Room Action: Taking care of Vlienius to the best of her ability Roll: 15 but she is not paying attention.
Kemi watched Vilenius with growing concern. Was he ill? Was this some side effect of whatever had contaminated his own world? He was acting like a child. Truly acting like a child. Kemi kept her hand on the other Senshi’s shoulder, feeling oddly responsible for him. Realistically, she knew he could take care of himself, or he should be able to but.
“It doesn’t look stupid…it’s just. Different from what you’re used to, I’m sure.” And one thing Kemi had learned by living on Earth was that different’ didn’t automatically mean bad. Or stupid. But.
“Are your eyes all right? Are you sensitive to light…? Have you ever thought of bringing sunglasses with you in subspace, just to make life easier?”
Was it useful for what was going on right now? Absolutely not. But…it was good advice in general, at least Kemi thought so.

Character Name: Eternal Sailor Alastor, Senshi of Despair Location: G5 Target: Door opposite they entered Action: Inspecting the bronze door and solar system with Michael Roll: 18
Alastor was still on edge. The fight had ended so abruptly that the sudden drop left him feeling both unfulfilled and wary. He didn’t really understand what had happened in the last room, so the entire time they had migrated from the last room to this one, he’d been hypervigilant. He lingered a bit longer than he needed to, just to make sure that the automatons didn’t come back to life when the group had thinned out in numbers.
Now that they were all in this new room, he still felt very little reassurance in any of it.
He knew Amarynthos had been hurt but wasn’t sure about the others. No one seemed horrifically maimed, though he did keep glancing at Ephesus to make sure he wasn’t turning pale from the sight of Amarynthos’ very dark sleeve.
Lucien was nearby, but honestly he had half a mind to scoop him up and have him look at the door that had caught Sessrumnir’s attention. He seemed fixed on one of the panels, so Alastor decided against interrupting him.
“Isn’t there a riddle about that?” he asked absentmindedly, planting both hands on his hips contemplatively as he followed Sessrumnir’s gaze. “When is a door not a door?”

Character Name: Dering, Knight of Lysithea Location: J4 Target: Grid 3 Action: With Reims/Lisse/Halle ; examining the grid Roll: 19
Dering was happy to drift with a group that he knew, especially because he really wasn’t sure what was going on. It wasn’t anyone’s fault–it was always like that on places like these. Every world was different, and no matter how many he visited, the only constant was that nothing was really constant.
He stayed quiet, not because he wasn’t present, but because he was spending most of his attention observing. It was a great deal of effort to try and keep tabs of everyone. Cynthus had a whole group of people with her, so he wasn't as worried about her. Amarynthos and Ephesus were together, but Mary looked like he’d gotten hurt. He seemed like he was in a good mood, so Dering shoved the worry deep into the pit of his stomach, even if his eyes kept drifting to the dark red on his sleeve.
Reims was with him, and Lisse, too, so he hoped that if there was trouble he could at least protect them. And Halle had a shield, too? They’d probably be fine.
Still, he couldn’t just shut off the shrill hum in the back of his mind that kept reminding him this isn’t safe. He didn’t need a sixth sense to tell him that he needed to stay on edge, but his body was working very hard to make sure he knew that something felt off.
Dering pressed a quick smile into place as he looked at Lisse. His brows were only slightly furrowed, but it was impossible to tell if it was from worry or focus. It wasn’t an odd expression on his face.
“I’m okay,” he promised, unsurprisingly. “Are you?” Maybe he wasn’t just asking about the battle. He hadn’t meant to overhear the conversation between Halle and Lisse so he pretended like he didn’t. He couldn’t help but check in, even as he–well, less accidentally overheard the conversation with Halle and Reims.
He glanced at the grid, if only because it was nearby, and because he wanted to make himself useful. Mysteries weren't his strong suit, but he didn't want to be dead weight. He was probably better off keep watching for danger than trying to solve anything.

As though aware of the presence of the newcomers, the crystal lanterns in the room flare to life, bathing the room in a soft golden light and making the enigmatic grids and their symbols more readily visible. When Blarney leans in to get a closer look at the grid, he may spot a jumble of crystal tiles on the ground below. Though they are dusty with age they appear to be in relatively good condition, merely waiting for someone to return them to their former places within the grids. Any characters examining the grids who rolled 14 or above may notice a series of similar grids on the ground. Though partially obscured by centuries of dust they are intact. Upon closer examination he may notice that no symbol appears more than once in a single row, column, or subgrid. Those examining the control panel's interface (Athene and Bacchus) will see the following numbers on its display. Though most of the lines are intact, the space for the final set of numbers displays an invalid value. Using a series of dials along the bottom of the panel's frame, it seems likely that someone could input the correct value. When Alastor examines the door there isn't anything out of the ordinary that he can identify visually. However, he might sense a subtle energy radiating from beneath the bronze dome over the center of the solar system. A fainter sense of power runs down the door and under the ground beneath his feet. Should he turn around to face the control panel, he might see something resembling a wire connected to the base of the panel through a small chip in the stone. Quote: Should anyone else be interested in examining the control panel's display, please roll a 20-sided die. Players of characters who roll high enough will receive a PM with a hint about the puzzle. If you are doing one of the grid puzzles, please specify which one when you note your character’s action and I will quote you with an individualized link with a fillable version. I’ll also link you to a version with numbers and you are welcome to do that instead if that’s your preference. We can just handwave and say it happened with the symbols. You can still choose to address a grid during this round, just quote me and I'll be happy to send you a link between posts. Message me once you complete yours and I will note whichever character correctly fills in the puzzle first as the one to solve it and note others as contributors.Note: If at any point during the RP you have difficulties reading or seeing a text-based resource I’ve linked, please contact me on Gaia or Discord (mechahonkzilla) for a more accessible version. I will update this thread again in about 48 hours.

Character: Chibi Super Sailor OortLocation: C5 Target: N/A Action: By Oberon and trying to puzzle out Grid 1 Roll: N/A Oort blinked, momentarily thrown off as crystal lanterns chose that moment to suddenly flare to life and bathe the room in soft light.
But whilst it had been unexpected, it wasn't unwelcome as the soft golden light had the secondary effect of making the grids easier to see.
He glanced away from the grid he was studying ( Grid 1) and glanced over at his friend.
"I was thinking that" he admitted to Oberon in a half-distracted murmur, reddish eyes already shifting back towards the grid, only to pause with a slight frown as something on the ground half-hidden by dust snagged at his attention.
He knelt down to get a better look and used a bit of his sash to try and brush away some of the dust.
Still crouched, Oort glanced up at Oberon, the slight frown lingering "This looks kind of similar to the grid" he said.
Similar but much more complete.

Character: Eternal Sailor AtheneLocation: G5 Target: N/A Action: Trying to puzzle out the control panel numbers Roll: N/A The soft golden light from the lanterns spilled across the room with the side effect of making the panel easier to see. Athene frowned slightly as he studied the numbers on the display, although he tilted his head in a small nod of acknowledgement at the senshi with spiralling antlers ( Bacchus). "I'm not sure" he admitted quietly to the other dark-haired senshi as he gestured towards the numbers with a small but wry smile, "I'm guessing that there's probably some sort of pattern in there, but number patterns were never my strong point - and maths was one of my least favourite subjects back in high school." He gaze returned to the panel, as Athene scanned the numbers again, his voice dropping to a quiet murmur as he started reading the numbers out aloud, half to himself. "One.. One-one.. Two-one.. One-two, one-one..."

Character: Blarney, Page of EarthLocation: Examining Grid 4 Target: Grid 4 1 Action: Heavily debating using the crystals. Roll: N/A The thing about Mason - and this was a Mason trait, not Blarney - is that he was a life-long museum-goer, mostly dragged along by his sister, who at least made sure that there were always plenty of interactive exhibits for Mason's ADHD brain to light up about. So when he saw the crystals in front of Grid 4, he picked them up immediately and got within a hairsbreadth of putting one of the crystals into a nearby slot before he remembered: This was not a museum, with his sister. This was not an interactive exhibit. This was not a safe little toy. He had the bruises from the bots to prove it, and more importantly, he wasn't here alone: Monch, and Bacchus, and everyone else who had helped him or fought the other robots - they were here too, and he couldn't go around acting a fool and maybe getting everybody hurt or worse in the process. So he caught himself. Barely. "So uh," Blarney said, turning to the group as he raised his voice to get as many people's attention as he could. "I found these crystals," he said, jingling them in his hand, "and it looks like they're supposed to go in these grids, but I don't want to put anything in the wrong place and make scorpions or prisoners fall from the ceiling or anything," he said, not entirely realizing that the rest of the group had not been privy to Monch's guesses about what awaited them. "But it looks like - it looks like at least this is - this is the symbol for Earth," he added, pointing at the cross with the circle around it. "And some of this sort of looks like other planet's symbols. Not--y'know, the one that says 'aaa', but..." Blarney realized he was rambling, and he blushed slightly. "Maybe we're supposed to stand in a certain place and activate certain crystals? Or something?" He hesitated; it didn't seem likely that every time someone wanted to do whatever they did in here they'd need a whole cohort of people, but...well, they were magically in space. Maybe it was a ceremonial thing. Blarney moved from Grid 4 to Grid 1, comparing the symbols curiously. "So maybe we--maybe nobody pushes any buttons or anything until..." Blarney looked at Tempesti, "until someone gives the say-so? Just in case putting a crystal in the wrong place makes, I dunno, the floor turn into lava or something?" honkzilla Bacchus, Tempesti; I'd love a fillable grid! Quote: This is directed to everybody, so anyone who's investigating grids or control panels can interact!

Character: Halle Knight of LysitheaLocation: J4 Target: Grid 3 Action: Observing and suggesting a possibility "Oh! Yeah, that's really smart. Music gets forgotten a lot...outside of horror games, at least." Halle nodded at That Guy of Ganymede's mention of music notes. Though actually...With a wry, helpless smile, he asked, "I don't think I got your name?" Lisse was definitely in a mood, but that was to be expected after nagging at him. Fortunately Dering was there and it seemed his brother was especially comfortable in his company. If he was still mad at Halle, it would be something they could deal with later, after they were home. And maybe Dering's presence would be a better influence than Halle if things came to another fight. The lights turning on was, well, as pretty as everything else on Tempesti. And they made it easier to copy over the symbols into his notebook. Penning down the four symbols once, Halle paused and cocked his head, then drew the trident-looking symbol again, the way that felt most natural, first one side, then the other side its mirror. A numeral two, and then another, flipped. The three's were more obvious of course, but that mean the others...the long line of a one, and then quadrants. On the grid next to him, he heard Blarney talking, picking up...something? Off the floor? That were sized to fit the grids. Looking down at the floor, he saw symbols that were the same as what was already up on the grid. Was it math? No...no this was too limited a number set. Patterns? No...maybe? No. Brow scrunched, he looked at the other three and ventured, "Do you think...do you think they liked sudoku?"

Character: Reims, Knight of GanymedeLocation: J4 Target: Grid 3 Action: With a bunch of Lysithea Knights apparently Roll: N/A Reims tried to be comfortable with how close the Lysithea brothers were, but he was painfully aware that he just couldn’t manage to nail down which was which. Every time he glanced over at them, he had to double check different features that made them stand out. He told himself the color differences were obvious, and the way they carried themselves, and the way they spoke. Still, it threw him off, and he hated the moment of hesitation in his chest like he might get it wrong.
When Halle’s attention turned to him, Reims felt heat burn his ears. He shifted his grip on his sword, cleared his throat, and shrugged.
“Reims,” he said simply. He opened his mouth to maybe say more, but forcibly stopped himself from any needless over-explanation. Especially since he was talking to (he was maybe 90% sure) the smart twin. Which meant… he must have realized they’d crossed paths before.
The other one -- Lisse -- was harder to read. There was something strange in the way he hovered close to Dering, like he was sulking, or irritated, or both. Reims couldn’t tell if he’d done something to set him off, or if that was just how the guy was. Either way, the look on his face was enough to make Reims glance back at Dering with concern. His friend was keeping that same tight smile, brows pulled just enough that Reims could tell he was wound up, even if he wasn’t saying so. Reims let the tension settle in his shoulders, like a silent promise to keep watch.
He turned back toward the grids when Halle brought up sudoku, his expression shifting into something of a scowl.
“Sudoku’s usually nine-by-nine,” he said after a moment, his voice low and a little hesitant. “But… I guess that would make this easier to figure out. Just with symbols instead of numbers.” He shrugged again, trying to sound casual even if his eyes kept eyeing the panels with wariness, waiting for something to happen.
“As long as no one puts the wrong symbol in and, you know… sets off another round of those things.”
He didn’t add that he’d rather test the traps himself than see anyone else stumble into them. That part didn’t need to be said out loud.
He sighed and gestured to the grid. “If you’re right… these symbols don’t intersect. Which…” he scanned the grid, placing symbols in the empty spots with his eyes instead of touching it or saying anything out loud. “Looks like it would work for a… mini sudoku puzzle.”
