Shanti wagged her tail energetically at the idea. Ah, so she got another name! Somehow it was always fun to get a new name...since she couldn't seem to tell them her own, she found herself trilled at the idea of having a new sound to represent her. And Mika was a pretty one, too!

It was obvious she liked it. She shifted silently on her branch and then pushed herself off, landing lightly and without a sound upon the forest floor beside him.

There was a feeling that stirred within the firey male that seemed foreign; it was one of trust, equality and...kindness. Never, no- never had he felt such emotion towards a single individual before. Maybe it was the way the wolfess presented herself in a rather mysterious, intriuging manner that would cause ones senses and curiosity to run wild! Perhaps it was her silence that made Tasubaa look into her eyes and watch for the words to be conveyed in her body language, flickering orbs that grew resistant when they were pulled away from her.

But whatever the cause, the one lonesome male had found himself to fall tail over paws for the unique she-wolf.

Onlooking with now softened eyes as their cold stare from long ago fear had receeded and withered away, Tasubaa smiled warmly as Mika leapt from the branches overhead and gracefully plnated herself beside him. Padding one step closer to her he drew his muzzle near her ear and rumbled with a soft laugh. "I don't know how you do it." He was hesitant at first but, slowly, he slightly opened his maw and tenderly nibbled one her ear.

What was he thinking? Certainly he had more manners than to just swallow a female with affection. But the pains of betrayal and remorse made his body yearn for the forgotten taste of love.

He was helpless.

He didn't know what reaction to expect but, silently, he hoped that maybe, just maybe, she wouldn't mind recieving such affection from him even though they had just barely met.

WIthdrawling his maw away from her ear, he flattened his ears slightly and emitted a soft whine. "Sorry..I- I don't know what I was thinking," he mused slightly with an embarrassed, sheepy grin.

Unbeknownst to the male, however, was how ignorant Shanti truly was. Despite how she loved interaction with others and easily accepted them, she didn't know anything about love relations. She barely knew about friendships. Her clan hadn't been a place where either really existed. It was a mirical she even acted as she did instead of a blood-thirsty killer.

So, she was suprised to say the least. But she had learned something from another male she had befriended-normal wolves liked to play. So, her doe-eyed look of confusion slowly faded and she wagged her tail with a smile slipping naturally back onto her face.

She would have done something in return, but he pulled away before she could manage. When he appologized she cocked her head, looking completely baffled again. Why was he sorry? She didn't quite understand...and this was very easy to read, as she always was.

His brows furrowed slightly as a gentle sigh escaped from his maw. The look upon Mika's face could only convey her perplexed state as if she was unsure to his abrupt halt, him pulling away his head from her and shamefully looking away. Love was such a funny thing but to those who knew nothing of its elusive ways, it only kindled greater within ones heart.

He could feel it; Tasubaa could feel its intensity stir within him as an uproar churned within his stomach. Oblivious to the sunset hued wolf was that this was only loves fragile stage where all emotions became tangible...there was still more for him to learn of and experience.

Ears flickering upwards, the jagged-haired male drew towards her once again as his confidence was slowly building him up. Tasu afraid of revealing his emotions? No. He couldn't let that stop him.

"Mika," he softly spoke with a humble, warm tone about his soothing voice. "I didn't mean to pull away from you on purpose. It's just that- well, I've never known what to expect from...my emotions. I guess I'm-" the words stumbled and tumbled about his tongue as he tried to coax them smoothly from his maw. Why did it have to be so hard?

"We've just met but...I want to get to know you more," he smirked as his firey hued tail swayed casually behind him. "I think I've fallen in love with you."

Approaching her slowly as he took a step towards her, Tasubaa swayed his head as his jagged hiar above swept and swayed around until his muzzle tenderly brushed against the wolfess in a delicate manner.

These new emotions were both foreign and exhilarating but whether they would be accepted by Mika still remained uncertain. Tasubaa could only hope that these same emotions were mirrored by the mysterious she-wolf as well.

He spoke of love so carefully that Shanti wasn't sure what to think. She had not learned of love in her clan. Anything she knew about the word came from her observations on her own. She had noted those in a family often "loved" each other and friends "loved" each other and mates "loved" each other. Which kind he was refering too she couldn't seem to make out.

So her doe-eyed gaze returned as he spoke until he gently brushed his muzzle against her. She had never really understood why wolves did it before...but now she did, at least a little bit. It gave her a sweet, fluttering feeling in her chest. Oh! And she felt so warm...it was really nice! She couldn't help but smile and wag her tail smoothly, her white ears flickering back slightly in pleasure.

A broad smile widened across his maw as Mika smiled and wagged her tail with pleasure. Tasubaa could only hoped he was conveying his deepest feeling to her, the truth to his stirring emotions within him. He was in love with her...a binding love that could entwine two individuals together for life. Yet whether that was what she wanted still remained uncertain.

Wuffing softly as he manuevered his muzzle towards hers, the sunset hued male daintly licked her nose with upmost tenderness as his softened, red eyes gazed upon her.

"I love you, Mika. Maybe it sounds crazy...a bit too soon...but I'd sacrifice my life for you. I'm helplessly in love with you." His voice drew in a soft, soothing whisper as he stood there hoping- no, pleading that she too felt of the passion that was burning within his heart. Such emotions were engulfing him, taking his whole being hostage as the feelings kindled greater and greater.

Never had he felt such things before...

Tasubaa felt as if he could pour his whole soul out to her! Discarding every pain, every thought and intention just to be with her! He would give everything just to be with her...

This male made very little sense to her. This wasn't a bad thing...it was just very strange. No other wolf she had met had talked to her like this...and they had never acted this way either! It was baffling to say the least.

But as before, that funny warm feeling came and made her heart feel like it was swelling. She wondered, absently if she was sick or something. But it made her feel happy, so she decided he couldn't be. Her tail swished back and forth rhythmically almost to the point where it's movement was forgotten.

She looked at him in worried confusion, however, when he said something about sacrificing his life. Hu? She didn't want him to die! xD Aparently she didn't quite understand the meaning of the phrase. Instead of taking it as he wanted to protect her due to his feelings she seemed to think he wanted to go die.

Her ears flickered back and she looked terribly distressed. She nudged at his ruff, trying to convay her wish for him not to go kill himself. x3

The sudden expression of distress that flushed upon the wolfess face only made him come to his senses and realize what he had forgotten; to at least be understood.

His ears perked up suddenly as a rather embarrassed, sheepish frown drew upon his maw. "No! No- I'm not going to kill myself! Never! I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm willing to protect you and do anything for you...for love."

Perhaps he thought that it would be easy to speak his mind before letting his thoughts gather twice about his compiled musings. Tasubaa was just letting the words roll off his tongue before letting his mind focus upon the spoken words.

Rumbling softly as he nuzzled her back fur, he chuckled low. "You're the first she-wolf I'd have ever let get close to me...or rather any one that has. They always seemed frightened and unsure of me but you were different; you did not shun me away."

Shanti looked extremely relieved when he said he wasn't going to kill himself. He had had her worried there! But she was quick to believe his words, no matter what they said-such was her sense of niavity. If she said he wasn't going to, he wasn't going to...then again, if he said he would he would. xD At least, in her mind. Though she still failed to completely follow his words on love.

Mm! There he went nuzzling again! Her tail went back to swishing and her ears pulled forward more joyfully. But she did c**k her head in confusion at his last statement. Why would anyone shun him?

His firey hued tail swayed behind him in a more jubiulent manner; feathered and waving in the air like an unfurled banner that portrayed his upmost joy. A still puzzled sensation seemed to linger about her as his words still didn't grab her understanding.

His brows furrowed slightly at the realization. How could he put it simple enought that Mika could understand?

He'd have to find a way.

Yet her look of confusion seemed to stagger his thoughts slightly as she perhaps sought an explaination as to why he was shunned. Best explain it in the simple version, he thought as a muffled sigh escaped from his maw.

"My Alpha, Valen, turned my own pack against me," he replied with a slightly bitter tone. The pains of such a horrible tragedy still were raw and tender from when the mutany took place. "He betrayed me...and my trust. He almost killed me but I managed to find this place. There's no chance he'll come around here...he got what he wanted."

Tasubaa shook his head, whisking away the ill thoughts from his train of thought. Valen, that twisted, dishonorable wolf would pay for his treachery! He would make sure of it to the fullest extent!

The thoughts of ever finding love seemed to vacate his mind. Perhaps he would never be understood; perhaps he was destined a forlorn soul that would haunt the woods for all eternity.

He was giving up....

He had tried everything to tell her what he felt, to express to her his stirring emotions but it just wasn't working. What was he doing wrong?

"Only a shadow," he muttered to himself a his ears flickered in a rather disheartened expression.

Betrayal. A word Shanti knew all too well. It stirred unfriendly memories within her mind. Numerous times it had been used to describe people within her clan and their actions. And more times still had it been spoken in the dying breaths of those in her fangs. Hearing it spoken again, after so long, was painful.

He spoke of it so horribly...and his words seemed far more harsh then those of her clan. Her mother had asigned her with a duty and she had never questioned it as they screamed of her trechery. She had continued it, as her mother designed and never thought over how it fit into the world of wolves that existed now.

Shame hit her like a bullet, a sudden pain she couldn't explain. She suddenly felt ashamed of herself. Though she knew nothing of the wolf he spoke of, what made her different from him? What made her different from that who he despied? Well, he didn't know...but somehow the odd twist in her heart told her she didn't want him to find out.

Her ears flickered back and she looked away, almost seeming to cringe at her inner thoughts. Leaving suddenly seemed like the best option...she didn't want him to hate her like this Valen he had talked of.

A pain seemed to sear through his right eye, causing him to cringe slightly and supress a wince. The past was brutal and the scars and markings upon his body were as testament to fortell the incidents and treachery. This is why he was hated; for showing strength and courage while Valen seemed to quiver for the fear of a mutiny or bloodlust.

Fear leads the mind in two directions; taking up courage or dismantling ones very logic into shambles. As for Valen, his twisted logic had only shattered his sensible thinking and had led him to seek the death of his packs Beta, Tasubaa.

His emerald orbs silently watched her as the young wolfess became hesitant and eager, looking in all direction as if to escape.

Was she leaving? Why?

Was it because he had said something to offend her?

No. No! Mika couldn't leave! He still had to somehow tell her how he felt! Oh, this wasn't good! He had to do something...Tasubaa had to say something!

"Mika..." he gently spoke as he drew his muzzle towards her, nudging her delicately.

Why weren't the words coming out from his maw? Couldn't he tell her!

He tried to open his maw again but to no avail did the words draw out from his tongue. This could not be happening...this could not end. Not yet...

Pulling his head back, the sunset hued wolf looked down towards the ground and sighed. "Can't you see I love you?"

And that was the very problem. The strength of his words were starting to make her feel sick. Not because she didn't like hearing them or because she disliked the new warmth she felt in her heart but instead because she knew it would all vanish and be replaced by pain if he found out. If he knew what she was created to do-no, what she was, he would have to hate her, wouldn't he?

She'd much rather have fond memories of this moment then regrets and heart-aches later. So she pulled away, taking a few silent steps backwards. She looked at him sorrowfully, a look that said she didn't want to go and she wished she could stay. It was definately not a look one gave when they didn't at least have a minute inkling of feelings.

But before he could do anything else she was gone, vanished almost out of thin air in her speed and ways of the shadows.

The words that faultered, those that he could never truly convey seemed to prove futile. His maw gaped open slightly as he hesistated still to coax the words from his maw. He grunted and whined as he fought his inner self, trying to break free from his chains that witheld him.

But it was no use.

His emerald eyes widened as Tasubass watched her step back from him, her eyes softened and glazed with sadness, a silent beg for forgiveness. Padding towards her, he whined.

"Mika..." but it was then she vanished from him, into thin air and away from him.

Tasubaa had lost the sole wolfess whom had stole his heart and the only one whom had accepted him for what he was. Why didn't he tell her! She was gone...and knowing how vast the woods were, he knew their chances of crossing one anothers paths were slim. Fate had brought them together once yet a second time would be only destinys matchmaking.

Perhaps he was not ment for her; Tasubaa must have been blinded by love to see that he could have never been with her. Forever he would be alone, for eternity would he suffer.

"Mika..." he whispered softly as strange, foreign tears welted within his eyes. Trailing down his firey fur, weaving and slowly tumbling, the young male gritted his teeth.

Never would he see her again and the opportunity to testify of his love had vanished away into the shadows.

There was nothing left for him.

Suddenly the male threw back his head and unleashed a solacing, heartfelt cry that pierced through the silence of the woods and echoed audibly. "MIKA!"

It was long and painful; drawn out in sheer agony as the love that was once there was no more. The flames of passions that had consumed him were kindling into smoldering embers. He was in ruins..

Oh, how his heart ached!
