The greatest innovation of the Twentieth Cenutry, I'd have to say is the Alternating Current. A way to make electricity's voltage higher and higher, fitting any of our needs. Edison created the Direct Current, but it was horribly inferior compared to the Alternating Current. With the AC, we would not be able to have wireless telecommunications, television, computers, and some of the appliances that give us such a high standard of living. The inventor was a genius in my book. His name was Nikolai Tesla.

Even though the telephone was invented in 1876, they weren't widely used until the 20th century, the turn of the century, and the first call from New York to San Francisco was only made in the 1920's. Therefore, the greatest development of the twentieth century was the telephone, bringing people together, shrinking the size of the world and leading us into a more modern era. Things moved faster. Yeah.

I live in Florida.
Two words: Air Conditioning

If you live in the midwest right now, I think you understand me. You know the 'heat wave' y'all are having? That's what summer temperatures are normally here. 98, 99, 100 degrees and still rising. 103 can be seen once in a while at the hottest part of the day...

True but, what about the electricity that powers 'almost' everything in the world.

I think the greatest inventions are modern flushers and toilet paper. I can't live without them.

Really depends. What do we need? What do we want? Ect. We need plumbing, of course, transportation, and phones. But do we really other things like ipods that take over your mind and such?

Anyway. That's just me.
