I always thought of the leader of the foursome (It's been so long, I forgot her name, I should get that on DVD soon) was like... one of those 'dark fluffs' who practices to try to get revenge on people for treating her like an outcast, and the other two were total fluffbunnies who followed her because it was 'cool and they got powers'. Sarah put me in mind of a hereditary witch, because of her family line and the fact that the god favored her bloodline enough to really speak with/through her as a high priestess and her mother's spirit guided her.

The moral I truly enjoyed about the movie was the message Sarah gave the pretenders "You have angered the god (I forgot HIS name too), he says you are doing this wrong and must be punished." before the illgained powers were taken away. Okay, I paraphrased, like I said, it's been forever since I saw the movie.

Admittedly, the movie helped turn me towards wicca. A part of me just whispered, "yes, Sarah's doing it right, the others are doing it wrong and they deserved what was done to them, I love the Thrice Return system, if it's real, I really want to learn more about this craft!" I was happy to find out it was really a part of Wicca faith and I've been studying it ever since ^_^ Not practicin yet, my mother's too well brought up on Christian beliefs to allow those things in her house, and I respect that, but when I move out, I'll begin practicing. For now, all I have are anhks, candles, incense and pentacle pendants. crying She threw out my Nefertiti-as-Isis bead portrait crying That thing was decades old >.>

Ummy
The God Manon is not a real deity. This was done on purpose. As Devin states. "We intentionally decided to stay away from what I would call a 'real' deity like Kali, or Hecate, because I did not feel it was appropriate to invoke a potentially living deity for the amusement of the masses." (see here: http://talentdevelop.com/pdevin.html )

Manon is another form of the word Mano who is a lesser Hawiian shark god I believe. Don't quote me on that. I'm still learning all the Gods and Goddess of Hawaii

I liked the film and thought it had good effects, but it didn't show the true nature of Wicca at all. It made WitchCraft seem really dark... Great film tho! 4laugh

I personally enjoyed the film. Granted it was "glamoured" up for our amusement, but it did make a lot of people wonder what witchcraft was all about. It started to have an impact as far as getting people to think outside the lines, no black and white answer....just a consequence for every action.

Instead of just being one God or Devil, now it made people think beyond what the Christian religion has burned in the minds of our youth.

Good film, not perfect, but good. 3nodding

Its a great movie, I mean I own it lol...I've seen the behind the scenes and yes they do state some of it is real but almost everything is fake and should not be believed to be the real wicca religion or anything of witchcraft (even though you still got some of those people who would think its real, like my cousins and sister) truely it says with the behind the scenes, the making of the movie. The girl who played Nancy(the leader of the four) was studying wicca at the time and was going to become a wiccan, I do not know if that truely happen after the movie. And there was Pat Devin, who was a real wiccan.
I don't care what others say it was a great movie(enough that I need to buy a new dvd xD) along with Practical Magic(this is more towards a family of witches but still has the whole eye candy special effects to it..I would explain this movie but this is not the forum for it.) any wiccan who avoids this movie really needs to stop and understand its a movie, its all a movie, didn't your parents tell you that when you were a child after seeing a scary movie.

Sorry for double-posting, but I missed this.

Witchcraft and wicca are different =3 Not all witches are wiccans, and not all wiccans are witches.

Witchcraft can certainly be dark. And there is a dark side to it, for sure. HOWEVER, since most people who practice witchcraft today have learned it THROUGH wicca, and it seems a lot more tame than its full spectrum. =3

I think that is was moderately accurate, but it showed people that they are witches out there. It also caused people to just up and practice without learning about it first.

Thanx. I also loved that movie and Pratical Magic. I recorded The Craft, but I think my aunt gave away Pratical Magic.

Okay....say, I like the movie, but it doesnt make much sense. I thought you werent supposed to use Wicca/witchcraft for personal gain? In the movie, they do it all the time. ninja

heart In my humblest of oppinions I think that movie was the biggest load of !@#$!!!! I hated it. It feeds to the misconception of what we are. I suppose it was an ok movie. The only real legitimate truth I saw was the whole principle of the law of three. This b@#$@% got what was coming to her. She was a bad person and karma whopped her. But, I suppose that the content of this movie would feed the appetite to a 13 or 14 year old. Who knows. I didn't like it, but who am I to judge?

Onyx

Sorry for the passion behind that. I really really hate this movie
