calamity Whenever I hear of those hoaxes I wish they were real. I mean... really hope... o.o This one was way scary though. I couldn't even imagine real zombies, but that would be so terrible. Though, being paid to exterminate zombies would make tons of people happy.

That totally just reminded me of a dream that Ph34rM3h told me about.
Me, her, my sister, and our friend Alice were zombie fighting machines! Only I was mentally handicapped and rolled around in a wheelchair. While swinging a baseball bat.

Still, might as well fire bomb them anyways for the practice. After all, you never know when Bush will tire of desert enviroments. And he does have a daughter, and I seriously doubt we'd invade Iraq three times.
And while we're at it, and since we'll be in the hemisphere, might as well unless hell on Korea. To be true to blood for oil we'll also have to invade Siberia. wink

Aratariel Apparently, there really have been cases of zombies reported in Haiti and areas like that. Something to do with vudu. I know this one! (I knew taking cultural anthro was good for something). In Haiti it is not uncommon for some slave farmers to put small amounts of blowfish poison in poor people's foods. The right amount of poison will cause their body to go into paralysis remarkably similar to rigor mortis and will slow down their hearts to the point where the average Haitian doctor (without the proper equipment) will normally just pronounce them dead. They are then given a quick and proper burial (the effects of the poison can last for upwards of 24-36 hours I do believe) and the night following the funeral, men go out and dig up the body. By this time the poison is starting to wear off so the men give the poor soul a mild anti-venin and inform him either that a) he is a zombie who can never see his family again which works with the zealous and superstitious or b) they are going to blackmail him/kill is mom/wax his armpits. Many people fall for this right away and go and work for these slave laborers constantly believing that they are the undead (something not unheard of in voodoo culture) or that their families will be killed. Every now and then one of these zombie slaves runs away from their plantations or whatnot and returns home. People recognize them, think they're a zombie and then the rumors spread. Now it should be noted that this is not a common practice and I don't believe there have been reports since the mid-eighties. I got to do a small project based off the article an anthropologist wrote on the very subject, it was nifty.
