How you "become Wiccan" depends a lot on what Wicca is to you. Are you referring to the traditional, Gardinerian Wicca? If so, I highly advise that you seek out a coven or at the very least, a very knowledged person. As odd as it may seem, someone you DON'T know may be a good start, unless your friend or acquaintance is very very familiar. The learning would be much better I think, in a more formal situation. If you have a new-age shop or bookstore, you might check there for people to get in contact with.

Books are a good way to learn fundamentals of Paganism, but if you take that route, please heed my advice: Never ever take anything written in a book as creed or to be followed 100%. And never stop reading. Read everything you can get your hands on. Just again, be mindful that, due to the relative lack of structure and common history of neopagan religious (compared to say, Catholicism), you may often find a lot of conflicts between books or a number of holes where information just... isn't. Also, please please please stay away from anything labeled for teens, even if you are one. These tend to be more about the flash and the glamour than any religious aspect. There's no reason you can't handle an adult book, and it will probably be more wholesome in the long run anyway.

If you don't care about the title of "Wiccan" and are content with being Neo-pagan, Eclectic, or some other non-Wicca path, I don't see as much need for the formal training I mentioned in the first paragraph, although it IS nice to have people to chat with. I identify as a Solitary Eclectic. I do not refer to myself as Wiccan, because I have issues with some of the baggage that comes along with following the fundamental and traditional paths of Wicca. There is nothing wrong with not being Wiccan, as traditionally defined. If you go this way, you may end up getting a lot of info on your own, and it won't always be easy. But because I have chosen this path, seeking out and learning knowledge on my own and thinking for myself about what I believe and why, and not just "because the coven said so", the result is a spirituality that I am deeply and personally connected to and involved in and with.

To be an outer court wiccan (non tradition non initated) You just need a dedication ceromony where you feel as if you belong to the Gods from that point on. To be a Full Wiccan you need initation into a linneaged Coven in which to learn the mysteries.

For me it was more of the fact that Christianty never *felt* right. So I was looking at the other Judeo-based religions. Didnt fit. I accedntly came across a book about Wicca and that one DID feel right. It took aot of study before I became truly comfortable, but when it happened...it was like waking up and relizing that nothing has changed around you. but you are diffrent.

Thats exactly how I felt with christianity.

I think most of us felt the way Morrigan did. I know I did, anyway. 3nodding

By the way, Ummy, you are now officially the reincarnation of Ivy. Except for the part where Ivy isn't dead yet. But, you catch my drift.

I want to become Wiccan, but I also don't want to break my Christian faith. My mom is very Christian and it would break her heart. I'm also already confirmed in my Chruch. I really want to be Wiccan and connected to the Earth and I agree with Wiccan principles, but I don't want to leave. Is there a way that I could be sort of halfway? Wiccan principles and rituals, but a faith in the Chrisitan god? I dunno, now that sounds like blasphemy in Wicca and Christianity. My faith is very loose though and already has a LOT of wiccan stuff in it. We do lots of rituals and one of our main symbols is the Triad. I don't know, I need guidance...

Absolutely my child. I do not know if this is true, but some wiccans, when they are talking about their deities, The Lord and Lady, they speak of Mary and Jesus. You can follow the principle of the religion of wicca but stay Christian, I do not see anything wrong with that, but that is just me. You come to your own decision and do what you please, no one can tell you different.

Thank you! And now, how do i go about being WicChristian? (lol) I'd like to do an initiation ritual, but I'm not sure how. I was reading on the internet about an initiation ceremony, and it said I needed "magickal objects/tools" what does that mean? Is that a bad site? Also, i have a friend who used to be Wiccan, but isn't any longer. Would it be wise to seek out her advice and opinions and borrow her books, or is this something I should go through alone?

When you feel the time is right, you can pledge yourself to the Goddess and God(Lady and Lord if you want to call them that.). I never needed tools to do my initiation, heh...but most tools and objects are used for covens. Also if you wish to ask your friend for advice and barrow books, do not be shy to ask, but do try it alone(but it never hurts to ask for help).

I found Wicca by talking to a guy at my school who was a witch and then we both got started on religion and what we thought of alternate religions etc. he then suggested teen witch by silver ravenwolf. and it went from there. So if you want to start get that book or a another book by her
They are very good

(kind of off topic but by any chance have you read the book Sabriel?)
I have my issues with RavenWolf, I think that she is ok, mainly in her books the things that really bug me are her opinions, though there is some false info too but not much of it. I frankly believe she writes for the money.
