"I, M'lady, am apprenticed to Harperhall. My name is Daniel," he pointed to himself then to his flit,"This fellow here in Arthas. I usually have another blue flit named Slath, but he doesn't have the dispotition for gathers." He rose to his feet to greet the lady. "I congratulate your postion on the sands. May I ask how you came by such a postion?" He hoped his face was schooled enough not to show too much excitment. He might need this later...

Tikal entered the Gather area and instinctively headed towards the already crowded sections. Her lips had a knowing smirk playing upon them, she was in her element. The noise the colors, the people...she took a deep breath and absorbed it.

"Shells I've missed this..." she murmured as she slipped through. Finally she found what she was looking for. A group of about half a dozen people, most of them men, were setting up what already looked like a small market itself. A tall man with a curving tattoo under his left eye caught her attention.

"ASTARTE!" she called to him over the crowd. The man looked up and beamed.

"Dragon girl!" he chuckled, "We didn't think you'd make it!"

Tikal grinned. "Like I'd miss all the fun! Where is everyone else?" She then handed him her satchel.

"It's a Gather, they're takin' in the competition before settling down. What's this?" he asked curiously.

"Twenty five beaded sets," she told him, "bracelet, necklace, earrings, all accounted for and ready to sell cap'n."

"Twenty five?! How did you manage so many?" he practically gawked at the sets.

"Being a Candidate is a very boring job," she shrugged.

"Well, you certainly have a knack for improving business," he laughed and snapped his fingers at a boy behind him. The boy handed him a considerably large pouch which Astarte tossed to Tikal. "And you've managed to put me out of marks yet again."

"It's a double edged sword, I've run out of materials," she shot him a devious grin as she caught the pouch filled with said marks, "most of this will go to getting more gold, silver, mineral and glass bead, not to mention leather. I'll see you around, I'm going to go check on how the other stands are doing."

"Oy! Does this mean you're going to get the next batch done sooner?"

Tikal shrugged. "Depends on how busy I am, eggs are in the sands. But, Glint knows where you are, he'll take them to you when I'm done."

With that she disappeared into the crowd that was already congregating in front of the Ameron stands.

A small grin appeared on Nevaeh's face as she wandered through the crowds of people already prancing about the gather stalls. She could tell already that she would fit right in. The happy atmosphere and the splendid music were just perks of the day. Maybe with some luck she could even pass as a harper even without any gather finery.

Kale chirped from his perch on Nevaeh's shoulder. This was his first gather and he was rather excited. His eyes never stayed on one thing for more than a second or two as he had to see everything no matter what. Genji and Teal were no where to be seen however. Though the blue and gold had come along with her both were off checking out other things.

Slipping in and around the many bodies moving about Nevaeh made her way through a few of the booths before two familiar chirps of excitement caught her ears. Looking up at Kale, Nevaeh noticed his gaze had finally stopped on a single person only a few booths down from them. The person had his back turned from her but there on his shoulder were the sources of the chirps. Both Teal and Genji occupied the man's shoulders.

Nevaeh soon was over come by shock and disbelief of who she was seeing. And to confirm her suspision the man turned, his face now in full view. There before her was her oldest brother and the trainer of both Genji and Teal was Shayne.

Carefully, afraid her eyes were playing tricks on her, Nevaeh stepped forward and into full view of Shayne. At first Shayne did not see her for he seemed to be preoccupied with a sheet of paper in his hands. Coming within a few feet of him Nevaeh grinned now very confirmed that this was her older brother.

"Shayne?" Nevaeh said watching for her brother's expression.

Quickly Shayne looked up and smiled at the sight of his sister. "Nevaeh! I knew you had to be around here somewhere or these two wouldn'tbe here." Nevaeh laughed and nodded.

"Yep. You can count on that. But what are you doing here?"

Shayne shrugged. "Ah just making appearances being as Dad couldn't make it. He's rather busy this time of year."

Nevaeh nodded. That was pretty much how it was at gather time of any year. Their father was always too busy to go with them or even take them when they were younger.

T'thia finally finished conveying all those she had been assigned to and sent Arizath off to eat and sun to regain his strength. she ducked behand a stall and quickly changed into more feminine gather finery. her new dress was several shades of harper blue trimmed in bronze and gold, it was a perfect fit. she sent her other clothes off neatly with Lira as the flits went to sun with Arizath.

as T'thia crossed towards the gather stalls and dancing square she thought of the rough night G'dor had endured. she hadn't gotten much sleep as she kept changing cold clothes and repositioning the sleeping furs. she found a quiet corner and grabbed a plate of food. despite her fatigue and lack of desired company she was determined to have a good time.

Faerra entered the gather, greeting Tolara and her new baby, and then moving off into the crowd. Her stride was one of a girl on a mission, and that she was. She intended to find, the perfect runner here, the best she could. Nothing less would do of course. On her belt hung a leather pouch full with marks she had been saving, and some she had collected. Her eyes flickered around to the stalls, noticing them, but not seeing what she was looking for, she moved on. Perhaps she would come back later to shop around.

So far, she hadn't seen what she wanted...until Tao, from his vantage on her shoulder, chirped excitedly, conveying an image of a group of runners tied up, a man lounging nearby. She whipped her head around and caught sight of them. With a grin, and a pat for Tao, she hurried over, slowing as she came up near the runners, not wanting to frighten them. This was why Mystith had not come with her to see them, the dragon would most likely have frightened the beasts, and she didn't want that. As she neared, the man perked up at the potential buyer.

"Well, hello there miss, looking for a runnerbeast are you? Anything particualr you had in mind?"

She nodded. "Yes actually, I want a lighter sort of runner, not too old either. Athletic. A hunter sort."

He nodded, "well, I'm sure we have one that would suite you perfectly! Come and see." He motioned her over to the line, bringing her near the end where a line of slimmer, more athletic runners stood alertly beside their heavier counterparts. "Now, the racers are at the other side, they're too jumpy too be here, but you'll be looking at these." He motioned to the line. She nodded, moving along the line, checking a runner here or there. But, there were none that just stood out, that struck her as more. There was a chestnut gelding that looked nice enough, but even he wasn't anything spectacular. Until she came to near the end.

The bay mare that stood there was slim, typey and alert, looking around curiously. Faerra stopped at her, something about the creature caught her attention...She looked over the mare and felt her legs, running her hands over. Good conformation, intelligent, wide set eyes, energetic. She turned to the man. "What about this one?"

"That one, Calypso. Nice mare to be sure, young though, only five. Wasn't broke until she was three, but she's got better movement for it. Care to try her out?"

Faerra nodded, leading the mare out of line, and quickly bridling her. Not waiting for a saddle, she vaulted onto the creature's back, nudging her gently as the mare moved forward.

G'dor was still quite under the weather. The rest had done some good to him but he hadn't felt any less tired since he'd worken up that morning. He was pale and always felt warm, having to change his sheets quite often from the sweating he had done during sleep. He was never one to forget his obligations to his companions. Tarnith had been taken to the fields and to stretch his wings with a fly over the lake. Unfortunately he was flying solo today. G'dor rode behind the bronze on his runnerbeast, Torth. The dragon had retreated up to the cliffs to sun beside the other dragons. G'dor was riding his way back to his wyer, slumping in the saddle and clinging to the harness hard to keep himself mounted on his runner. Passing by the enterence of the gather he peered in slowly, picking T'thia out of the group. It had taken a fake nap and the assurence that he'd be fine to get her out of the wyer. Just because he was ill didn't mean she had to be kept from the wyer. He'd not enter, he knew whatever he had was quite possibly able to spread and shells if he'd get the whole wyer ill. What with the thread falling at random times and all.

Will turned his head to the side as did Kyte, both turned to eye their owner as he urged his mount forward, "I've never been fond of gathers." He said to them both to answer their inquiring looks, "The only one I've been to is my own. Shells know T'thia will have my ears if she catches me up." He chuckled, thumping Torth's neck, "We're quite the rebels then." Glancing back he urged Torth into a trot towards the barn. Thankfully the gather was a large enough attraction to keep curious eyes from assessing him too closely. He'd put his runner up after making sure that he was fed and a stablehand would groom him well that day- then go back to his room to try and get some rest, any rest. He was so tied, he felt weak and frail- a feeling he wasn't fond of at all.

The pipes were nice, but she didn't get enough marks to spend that much on an instrument she didn't even really know how to play. She placed the pipes back on the stand and sighed, "Sadly, I don't quite have the marks for that. Good luck to you though."

She wandered away from the stall back toward the entrance. Many of the shops were still setting up. Aoki figured she'd wait before she tried any more shopping. She remembered seeing Tolara holding Valar when she walked in. She had been talking to someone so Aoki had passed her by. Maybe now she'd have a minute to say hello.

It looked like Tolara was just watching people walk by. Aoki dodged past a group of people and hurried over to Tolara, "How are you doing Tolara?"

Business was slow, as to be expected. R'ign knew that business would start picking up after a bit, once all the people made it to the Gather and had had a chance to browse through once or twice. Then she would probably be swamped with orders. Or so she hoped. Bored, she decided to sketch Klah for an example to show potential customers. Besides, if she were busy, there was more of a chance of others coming up to see what she was doing.

The little brown had awoken a short time ago and R'ign tried to mentally impress upon him the urgent need for him to be still. He chirped questioningly over his shoulder, but did stay still. The bluerider started to work quickly, hoping to get the outline done before the little bugger decided to move.

T'thia's mother had strode across the dance floor from ehr father to join her at her table.

"you look weak my dear, have you been sleeping well?"

T'thia looked up at her mother with a slight smile, she had promised not to tell anyone of G'dor's condition unless absolutley nesecarry. she nodded

"i just got a new flit, you know how those things sleep. as unpredictable as a babe"

T'thia chuckled with ehr mother as the older women nodded her head. it wasn't a lie, Emerade was still in speratic sleeping patterns so she could still hold a clear contious.

Tarnith's just past by mine

T'thia glanced around to look at her dragon on the ledge. she sighed. that sharding man would he never do anything for his own good?

"it's alright heart, his fever reduced last night thanks to the cold clothes, but i'll be sure he rests easy tonight. even if it takes fellis to do so"

T'thia's mother smirked

"you and that dragon of yours"

T'thia shrugged, and grinned at her mother. T'thia's mother gave her a little knudge as she pointed to T'thia's older brother V'thous

"i believe he wants a dance from you"

T'thia chuckled

"doesn't he always? i'm the only one agile and quick enough to keep up with his favorite steps"

T'thia patted her mother's shoulder as she crossed the dancing square as one of the fast upbeat tunes was started, this was mostley for the younger couples as the steps were very intricate and complex to perform. she partnered her brother and together they began the steps with incredible vigor.

After a short period of time, longer than R'ign would've expected, Klah grew tired of staying still and rustled his wings before chirping happily at the people who walked by. The bluerider had gotten enough of what she needed anyways and added a few touches to the outline before working on the finer details.

Not too much longer, she put her writing utensil down and sighed softly, looking at the image for several moments before grinning. She placed the portrait of her own flit down. The little brown noticed the thing and waddled over to it, peering at it with one eye then the other. He chirped quizzically, trying to figure out what it was.

R'ign just grinned at the brown's curiousity. Eventually, the flit got tired of this flat, boring flit who didn't move and looked funny and flew off in hopes of finding someone to feed him. But the little brown got distracted by the sight of Tolara and the tiny human. Curious as to the baby, Klah landed on the woman's shoulder to peer at the tiny creature.

Meanwhile, R'ign set the portrait up as an example for everyone else.

Selene sighed as the rider moved on. "Maybe I should lower my prices..." she muttered to herself. At that moment, however, the notes of a familiar song drifted to her from the dance area. "Hmm, they're just finishing the highstep. My number's up soon..." She grabbed her violin and bow, locked the booth, and headed off to the pavilion. "Dilian! Why don't you find Alerai? The dancing's starting!" she called wickedly over her shoulder at her new friend, still burning that paper with the intensity of his staring.

As she made her way through the crowd, she saw Daniel leaning in the shade. In a teasing mood, she played a few notes on the instrument as she walked, singing in some made up tune, "Care to grace us with your presence, serenader?"

Lireal entered the Gather, at once finding herself overwhelmed by all the colors and sound and smells. Yes, mainly the smells. Everything seemed to be bustling, and a harper was striking up a tune over to one side, while others were setting up merchandise and haggling over prices.

She didn't see her companions anywhere, though. Perhaps they were late. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed one of the riders she'd seen around, looking very ill. She hoped there wasn't anything seriously wrong with him, he looked to be a nice sort. Another figure in the crowd drew her attention even more. Wrath's rider was greeting those entering the gather, which meant Wrath had clutched. A surge of excitment ran through her, almost tangible.

As she stored the information away for later, a game stall drew her attention. Geez, she felt like she couldn't stay focused for more than a minute! The stall had an assortment of prizes, and in the very back there were firelizard eggs. She moved quickly and easily through the crowd until she stood before it.
"Excuse me!" She addressed the person behind the counter of the stall. "Could you tell me how exactly one plays this game?"

Tolara smiled tiredly as Aoki came up. "I would say fine, but I'm begining to get worried." The Weyrwoman shifted the bundle in her arms, rearranging the weight that Valar was rapidly putting on. "Hold folk... Watch how they act around riders today," she suggested quietly.

A sudden weight on her shoulder made her glance up startled. Kilra had taken a dislike the the squalling creature that Tolara kept around her and was often trying to 'drive' Valar away. But it wasn't Kilra that landed on her shoulder, but a brown she didn't recognize.

"Is he your's?" The Weyrwoman asked confused.

Said shady character grinned wickedly, a sharp grin full of teeth. "Why yes I could pretty lady." His dark eyes danced up and down her form, finally resting on the shoulder knots. Something sharpened in his gaze before the smile turned lazy. Leaning back he streached.

"Quite simple. I've got a number. You guess it, you get a choice of going on or picking your prize. Longer you go, better the prize and harder it is to win."

The man leaned forward. "But this game isn't free girlie. Ain't doing me much good to give away such nice prizes. Say.. 2 marks to play." Intently he watched the candidate with a smirk. He would bet she hadn't a half mark to her name.

"Not mine... I've only got Kael on my shoulder here." Kael chirped and sat up a little taller at the mention of his name. Aoki peered at the little brown, "The only person I can think of with a brown flit is R'ign."

She glanced around to make sure no one was within hearing range, "Are you expecting trouble today?"
