Concerned that the boy wasn't jumping up and down with joy at their new legacy, she put it down to the fact that he must still be very, very tired from all of this.

"I don't know." Haki said. She wasn't good with names. And Froofroocakes didn't sound like anything Gavin might agree too. Pausing as she petted Gavin too, she nodded her head. "Gavin make name?"

After all, he had kind of more or less sparked off the creation of their baby too.

Wow. Haki had a baby dragon!

It was the ruckus that had attracted Marc's attention first. And that was why his face was one of concern first, annoyance second-- he had finished his own business, and now he had planned to collect the two, docile little children only to find Haki petting Gavin like some new toy.

And...

"Gavin? Haki?"

Haki looked up, and beamed. "Gavin and Haki have baby!"

Gavin was very, very tired from all of this. Therefore, when Marc came onto the scene he was still focused on the fact that Haki asked him to name the dragon. Absolutely no recollection of that 'hanky panky' talk from earlier, not that he understood any of that anyways.

He pointed tiredly, totally ignoring Marc, "Baby?"

It was the best he could think of right now. This was mostly due to the fact that Haki kept calling it 'baby.' However, he didn't know that Haki was probably hoping for something a bit more creative.

"Haki Gavin Baby! Hakinby."

That was a bit difficult to say, but in his groggy mind it made perfect sense.

Marc felt as if some large diety was out there making fun of him. That there was something torturously sadistic in the works because... well. THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE AND HE COULDN'T WAKE UP!

((XDD Which is true.))

"Baby?" alarmed, and then exasperated at the sight of the little doll, he looked around. Last he knew no one sold plushies in a book store, and he didn't see any crying children (hence, Haki had not stolen it off anyone else. Yes. She was prone to this). Worried, it took a while for logic to kick it.

Gavin looked a bit stupid, and Haki amarous. Hence.

The dragon plushie must have been left behind by somebody else.

Yes, father and daughter did think alike.

"Gavin, are you okay?" knowing that if anything happened to the brat Remi wouldn't take Haki in again, he bent down.

Hakinby. Cute, if it involved someone elses kid. Worriesome if it involved his own.

Maybe he should enrole Haki in a nunnery.

Haki was indeed enamored by the name. HAKInbeee. What a beautiful name! "Hakinby baby!" she cooed, petting the plushie.

"Tired," Gavin responded, his words still slightly slurring together. "Very, very tired."

Why couldn't he be knocked out like last time? At least then he hadn't been unable to move with someone like Marc hanging over him. It couldn't be the face of his mother or Haki or Osha, or someone slightly more comforting. No, when he's exhausted, disoriented, and feeling like someone hit him with a hammer he had to stare into the face of Marc. Maybe he should just let himself fall out of consciousness and be over with this whole ordeal.

Or pay attention to Haki instead.

"Haki like?"

Poor Haki had been chosen as the better alternative over Marc. If she could only know... then her ego would probably be crushed. She was supposed to come first all the time!

((xDD))

"Haki like~" she cooed, butting her guardian out of the way. Look, Gavin made babies! Beautiful soft plushie babies~! Fascinated by the turn of events, she petted the dragon plushie... and Gavin.

"Dadeeeee. Gavin hero." she explained.

Hmmm. Next time, she'd go into a shiny store and ask Gavin for shiny babies. Maybe that would work too!

Gavin was going to be so confused when he's old enough to find out where real babies come from. Right now he was under the impression that they poofed into existence if Haki pet him enough. Hakinby seemed to make her happy, at least.

"Haki dadee like too?" he asked Marc hopefully.

Might as well find out if he pleased the newly made 'grandfather' too. Did that make mommy a grandma? He'd have to spread the news when he regained control of his legs.

"You a grand-da now?" a finger pointed straight up at Marc, his arms being the only part of his body he could move without making his head swim.

Marc paled. PALED, to have the little boy say something like that to him. "Granpa?" his voice almost barely squeaked by, and he decided this was early enough to end this little nightmare.

"Come on. Remi must be worried about you." Goddamn, he would be frantic the next time he left Haki in the woman's care. What would happen the next time these two were left alone?! Deciding that nothing could be cute if it involved his Haki having children, he managed a.

"No."

Kids. They moved fast!

Haki in the meanwhile paid no attention to anything except for her new toy. It was soft! (like Gavin) and pretty! (like her). So it was nice.

No? What did he mean no? Oh well, maybe Hakinby would grow on him later. Gavin would leave that job to Haki, since she saw him on a daily basis and could use her methods of persuasion to make the plushie part of the 'family' so to speak. Speaking of people one saw on a daily basis, he did catch that his mommy was mentioned and that it seemed they were going to see her.

"Can't move," he said bluntly, attempting to reach up his arms as a signal that he needed to be carried.

Carry? Gavin?

Two sides of Marc warred with each other. The one that was considering Haki's short term safety (carrying Gavin equalled getting on Remi's good side, which would mean Haki having someplace to stay) and the one that was considering Haki's long term safety (carrying Gavin was a sign that he approved of the boy... which, considering the fact that he had been made grandfather of a dragon toy, wasn't great.).

Short term won over, and he picked the boy up, the concession being that Haki got picked up too.

"Daddy strong~~" Haki cooed, petting her father too. See, today was turning out to be such a nice day!

Marc smiled, straightening a little more fully, and nodded his head. "Come on, we'll go see Remi." and he'd find out a little bit more about this boy. Pretending to be weak so that he could be carried... hah!

Maybe it was Haki's influence.

When picked up in this state, Gavin resembled a small bag of cement. He swayed a bit without support, but finally managed to teeter himself forward to lean on Marc's shoulder as they made their way out of the bookstore. Still slightly out of it, he played copycat and petted Marc like Haki. Maybe this was some sort of ritual she did as she was carried, petting. Might as well follow suit.

"Strong," he mumbled.

Remi was back at her apartment, asleep at the kitchen table next to her last couple bank statements and the classifieds of that day's newspaper. Having the day without Gavin meant an opportunity for a day of job searching, which was mentally tiring--hence the reason she involuntarily decided to have her afternoon nap in a table chair, leaning forward with her head rested on her crossed arms. She had remembered to lock the door though; she wasn't that tired.

Marc had a driver.

Which was good. Because his arms HURT. And his temper was fraying too. He couldn't exactly tell the boy who had spawned Marc's first "grandchild" to stop petting him, right? And the boy was heavy.

No one had told him that wings were heavy. Heavier.

--

Skipping forewords. Because it wasn't as if Marc remembered the journy anyways. Later, he was going to crawl into Hadrian's bed in order to forget all of this... actually, he'd have ended up there anyways. This just meant they'd do more things.

Marc carried the both of them (no need for the gym today, then) up the stairs, quiet. He was tired, and a little bit worried too. Hopefully nothing awful had happened to Gavin, because..

Well. Who would babysit Haki?

Knocking on the door twice with his foot (alright, so he kicked it. Twice.), he looked down at the hawk boy.

"You okay?" A little bit belated, anyone?
PostPosted: Sun Oct 08, 2006 6:17 am

By the time they'd reached home, Gavin was more or less half-asleep. The belated vocal acknowledgement was enough to jerk him slightly awake, though he was just as disoriented as before.

"I okay," he responded, fighting to keep his eyes open. "I think..."

Because spawning dragon toys at a whim usually meant something was wrong with a person. Except that he didn't know that.

At the sound of her door nearly being beaten down, Remi jerked awake, knocking her mug of coffee onto the floor. It didn't break, but the hours-old liquid made a nice puddle in her kitchen. Though she wanted to clean it up first, someone obviously wanted her to answer that door. Rubbing her eyes tiredly, she answered the door to find Marc with two toddlers at her doorstep.

Had he walked all the way up here with them like that?

"Marc?" she said, becoming slightly more awake by the minute. "You're back early..."

Marc moved past her, deciding that they were on friendly terms enough that her house was his house. (Just not vice versa.) "Can I have some coffee? And aren't bird boys supposed to have hallow bones, or something?" staring at the room with dismay, he shook his head. "It's not as if you GAVE me a time." he said, slightly defensive.

Haki, bright and perky at the sight of someone new to show off her new child too, beamed. "REMI!" she waved the dragon toy side to side with a giggle. "HAKINBY!"

Alright, so her voice was a little bit loud. But she couldn't help it. It wasn't every day you got new toys for free.

...

Alright. It was almost every day. But it not being someone who worked for/knew Marc, that was rare.

"Gavin and Haki baby."
PostPosted: Sun Oct 08, 2006 6:27 am

It would never cease to amaze her how people just seemed to assume everything that was hers was also theirs. Okay, so that list extended to Marc and Thorn, but at least the first one on that list was somewhat tolerable.

"Sure, I was just going to make myself another cup," she replied, moving back into the kitchen. It made her slightly uncomfortable that all her financial information was on the kitchen table, but maybe Marc'd be too distracted to notice that. She took a few seconds to wipe up the puddle on the floor before noticing the little dragon toy. Gavin and Haki baby? Hakinby?

"Well that's a cute baby," she smiled, going along with the kids' imaginations. After throwing away the dirty paper towle, she moved to the coffee machine. "Did Marc give that to you?"

Marc looked down with passing interest-- numbers. Bank... hmmm. This was interesting. So he set the two kids on the table, leaning against it with his left hip and looking down (and at Remi) because he was nosy that way.

Well, that was good. It meant he had a healthy curiosity... blah blah.

"Thats good. And make it stronger? You don't make your coffee strong enough." he added.

Haki beamed. "Nooooooo." she said, pulling out the word because it was very rarely that she was allowed to say it. "Gavin and Haki make it!" she looked over at the slumped form and once Marc decided to set them loose on the table, wiggled over tp join Gavin. "Light. Then baby."

Wow. How coherent.
