Loki grinned up at the sky letting water fall into her open maw as she loped along through the forest. Some nights it was just great to be alive. She thought about getting down to stalking something down to eat, but dismissed the thought quickly, wanting to run and play in the moonlight a bit longer before she got down to business. The thought of the wolves she had met in the past few days laid heavy on her mind, though. She was glad they were all very nice, but she wasn't naive, she knew they could quickly turn on her. It could all be a horrid joke. She would be ready, if so, but for the time being she would stay with them. She loved Gaara's company, she thought to herself before breaking into a dead run.

Now he was sure that there was another wolf- and he could tell that she was female now. His ears perked. Ding ding ding!
Hige could barely register the ground beneath his feet as he ran towards the source of sound. It wasn't too long before he caught up to her. He slowed to a stop to catch his breath as he watched the other wolf run, completely free.
"..."
A soft wuff, followed by a more audible bark announced his presence, his stance was easy-going. His ears perked and his tail swayed content. Would he make a friend of her?

Loki slowed as a noise hit her ears. Was that a wuff? She peered around, sapphire orbs finally coming to rest on the other wolf. He appeared friendly, and if he wasn't, she could take him on. She laughed silently to herself at the thought. Hello. she said softly, starting to sit. She reared back up quickly and wheeled around, so embarrassed... she had sat on a thorn bush.

"Hey, and here I thought I must be the only one up this late into the moon." He chuckled and padded closer. He came within two feet of the she-wolf and stopped, standing before her. Something had startled the female, and with a closer look and a polite peer around her Hige found the cause. He cringed sympathetically, ears flattening just so. "Ouch.... Hey, you've gotta watch out for those! Are you alright? Um... ah...?" He left that as a chance for her to give her name as he watched her with curious golden eyes.

Loki's ears flattened against her skull. If she had exposed skin, it would be red. REALLY not wanting to have to pick thorns out of her hindquarters with a stranger watching, she sighed. Loki.. uh, I mean, that's my name. Loki is my name. she finished, wincing. Uh..ah, excuse me. she curled around, gingerly picking thorns from around her tail and spitting them back at the bush. "Hrmf, great. Biting at my own butt AND spitting in front of a stranger. And a cute one, to boot" she thought to herself as she finished picking out the last thorn.
Straightening herself again, she sat in a more friendly portion of the forest floor. She finally found it in herself to come eye to eye with the male again. He looked to be around her age. And you are? she asked, trying to take focus away from her ordeal.

"Loki... Has a nice ring to it. I'm Hige." He bowed his head a bit in her direction, winking. "Are you alright, by the way? I hate to see a female in pain." He settled down in front of her on his haunches.

Loki avoided eye contact by nibbling her foreleg. Hige is a nice name also. Yes, I'm ok.. now. Heh, you really have to watch for those things.. at least it wasn't a porcupine. UH.. HEH NOT THAT I'VE SAT ON A PORCUPINE BEFORE IT'S JUST.. ... she stammered as her voice rose. She stared hard at the ground, any harder and it would have run away crying to it's mum, she thought.

Stormy Hound Loki avoided eye contact by nibbling her foreleg. Hige is a nice name also. Yes, I'm ok.. now. Heh, you really have to watch for those things.. at least it wasn't a porcupine. UH.. She felt so much better that he was laughing, instead of sitting disgusted at her silliness. I love the night, it's my favorite time. So peaceful and.. oh I don't know. I just feel so much more alive at night. No doubt in her mind, she was hungry too.. but she wasn't lying about how she felt about the darkness. She took a deep breath, inhaling as much of the cool night air as she could, then, almost hesitantly she let it out again slowely. I breathe easier at night... she added.

~So, I was right, we are a lot alike!~
The brown teen shifted the weight between his paws briefly, not sure why he felt so fidgety at the moment. "Great minds think alike, huh? Keh heh..." ^_^ "You up for a run, Loki?"

Loki bent arched her neck, biting again at her foreleg before standing to stretch. Sounds good. she grinned as she replied. She stretched again, tagged him with her nose, and took off running, avoiding the thornbush as she went.

... Okay, so two were kinda REQUIRED to play this game...... stare That's beside the point!
Hige laughed as he stood, tail coming to life as well as his legs. Muscles fit to chase down herds of deer, quickfooted rabbits, and the ocassional squirrel uncoiled and kicked off, sending him after the female in a burst of energy.
~So, that's how it is? Getting a headstart on me?~ Hige smirked, snickering under his breath and letting his tongue fall loose. Running felt good, but it felt even better to run with someone else.
He let Loki keep the lead for a while, laughing...

Woo!! the expression turning into a howl as it escaped her maw. It felt so great to run with someone else. She laughed with joy as she looked over her shoulder, gleeful at the sight of Hige running behind her. She stopped her dead run and began to bound along playfully, letting him catch up.

Hige's howl, and laughter followed Loki even as she began to slow to a skip. He was following right behind. As he caught up to her he gave her a gentle nudge to her neck with his head. "You're pretty fast..." He panted softly, coming to an easy pace beside her.

She smiled sincerely and paced herself alongside him. Her stomach growled. Care to have dinner with me? she finally asked, slowing down a bit more.
