That's such crap. The Rolling Stone are one of those magazines that will say one thing and then say another. You can't really take it seriously and the only reason the artists like it is for the mass publicity.
Now. Don't get me wrong, I am a die-hard White Stripes fan. Honestly, I am. But to be unbiased, I do not think that Jack White is honestly that good a guitar player. There are probaby loads of people who never will/did get discovered who I'm sure can play guitar better/just as good as people like Jimmy Page. Talent is only 10% of the business. I'm not saying that he isin't a good guitar player because he definatly is.

doesn't anyone remember the cover of guitar world? the one with jimmy page and jack white on the cover. with the article about them disscusing their blues influences. and the tribute to bonham?
i personally think "talent" when it comes to music doesn't mean a hell of a lot. most people i find who have a really knack for an instrument give it up pretty quickly. being good at it, from guitar to drums to anything, depends on the amount of time you spend practicing. i spend at least an hour on the drums a day. yet i know people who have been playing for years and can't keep a simple 60 BPM in time for more than 10 mins.

this list made me VERY angry. It had Jimi Hendrix at no. 1 which is so biased, cause everyone in the world is like "OMG Hendrix is teh best EVER!!!!" and um Les Paul, THE Les Paul who almost single handedly created the electric guitar, was no. 46. And also, Eddie Van Halen, was no. 70. COME ON ROLLING STONE ARE YOU ON CRACK?! I really dont think that Jack White is deserving of that spot as he may be a good guitarist, but no. 17? I dont think so. oh and my no. 1 Jimmy Page, was beaten by Dwane Alman, Eric Clapton (once again, biased) and Ry Cooder (whoever that is) and BB King (great guitarist, but not no. 3 material) BTW Brian May is no. 39 http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/5937559/the_100_greatest_guitarists_of_all_time
