Ooh, Souseki-san is good. I'm working through his "10 Nights of Dreams". I also have a few of Ryonosuke-san's stories, but I haven't started them yet (both nicely wrapped up in a book called Breaking Into Japanese Literature 3nodding ).

I have that. I'm trying to get 心 right now.

That's cool; I heard that was an excellent book. I'll probably try it when I'm more advanced at Japanese, or make progress in the other stories.

I use Genki, and I love it. Except now I'm going to end up spending the rest of my Christmas/birthday money on a new textbook set whee I wish it wasn't so expensive.

Ok, I do not reccomend Don Quixote(not sure that's right...in spanish the spelling kills me) I have read it and it's a lovely little(hah) story, but the style of spanish used is basically archaic. Kind of like english's Thou and thine, much of the book is extremely formal, using verb forms that dont really exist anymore.

I have read a lot of poetry and short stories in spanish. "No oyes ladrar los perros" is a good one, simply due to irony. Pablo Narude is a GLORIOUS poet who I reccomend in english and in spanish. It translates fairly well. I also read the old man and the sea in spanish(El viejo y el mar) and I liked it better than way than in english!!!

And yes...I am back so to speak. Finals and papers are killing me...but I AM back.
