Hi... My name is Kristen. I'm 20 years old, and almost 1/2 Lithuanian(the other half is German, and Polish). But I'm more Lithuanian than anything else. (Anything else you want to know, see my profile!)
I live in America, and so don't speak Lithuanian. My mother couldn't find any Saturday schools that taught it, except in NYC, and she hates the city. So she settled for German, and I've taken that since I was 5. But now I want to learn Lithuanian, since my grandmother spoke it, and my mother speaks a little. Nobody in America seems to know the language- not only would it be cool to know the oldest living language(even older than Latin!), but it'd be like having a secret code or something to speak with when I don't want others to know what I'm saying. My cousin, about 30 miles away, is 100% Lithuanian, and she's my sister's age, so we've been going to her house a lot lately. A few months ago, her mother said she goes to Lithuanian school on Sundays, and it isn't in NYC. So we're going to start in September, and hopefully I'll learn the language!!
Until then please bear with me. I can't speak or write Lithuanian, but I really wanted to join this guild!! biggrin
