Teh Jeicen I've seen it many places as GiR. Is that another silly fangroup thing that isn't true? Well technically it should be GIR, since it's a variation of the SIR unit, or Standard Information Retrieval unit. But any variation of GIR (be it Gir, GIR, or GiR) is usually accepted. Because who likes to keep using the shift button? xd

I think in my own opinion, That If you spell GIR's name the right way than you are NOT a real Invader Zim fan. stare Must fans would either, read the back of the VHS or DVD case that says GIR's name many times. also most fans would have seen GIR's name at least once somewhere else like on the internet or on Nick before it was canceled. Most people don't even spell GIR's name in capital letters! GIR stands for something there for it should be in capital letters. I meen really would you spell FBI like this: fbi? It just doesn't look right does it?! *pauses* Okay I'm done with my long and boring speach you can all wake up now. stare

You're only a fan if you spell the name incorrectly? *confused* And about the FBI thing... That's true, but you say each letter, where in Gir's case you pronounce the whole thing. If you said it "gee-eye-ar" then spelling it Gir would be a little odd. So although technically it is GIR, there is not a big problem with Gir. Another point is that SIR units seem to have names, at least Tak's did (although if her case is valid I'm not sure). So, if that's the case, it could be both GIR and Gir.

Ledell Zianete Ledell Zianete Ledell Thank you. This really needed to be said. So many join requests about how much people love "Grr" or "Gur" or whatever... gonk PS: I reserve the right to smack anyone calling Gir by any other name with my Staff of Doom. Yes...smack em to the planet of broken glass. I shall! And I bolded and capitalized for extra effect. xd That's one of my biggest pet peeves about IZ fans. You cannot call yourself a fan if you can't spell the characters' names correctly. gonk Yees...it makes my head hurty. gonk Jhonen would cry....he'd become a little emo boy. IS IT SO HARD TO SPELL? Some people are "special" in that way. And Jhonen? A little emo boy? That's such a scary thought. PEOPLE, DON'T TURN JHONEN INTO A LITTLE EMO BOY! Only you can prevent this! Spell correctly! Yargh! Jhonen should NOT be a little emo boy! It would be utterly terrifying.

Ivy-chan First of all, the DVDs don't come with English subtitles and therefore people may not know the proper spelling. Second, GIR is pronounced 'Grr, or Gur, etc.' so I see this as a reasonable mistake. These people are not 'morons'. They're simply ignorant of the spelling. That doesn't make them stupid. No, it doesn't make them stupid. It makes them ignorant of spelling. Meaning stupid!
