Dark grinned, leering at the blonde. "And you've practically admitted it, yourself. "The name's Dark, Blondie. Remember it. I can tell you're hiding something. Everything about you says it--you're eyes, your words, your tone--even your posture. So, be a good boy and tell me, won't you?"

"I can steal anything," Dark said, rolling off the bed. He stood in front of Krad, kneeling down to be at eye-level. "So let's just make this easy on both of us. What are you hiding?" All humor was gone from his voice.

"I'm hiding nothing of any importance to either of us, Dark." Krad said, his voice turning slightly icy. "I may tell you later, but I'm trying to forget it myself, so why would I tell you?"

Dark looked at the blonde for a long moment before a grin split across his features. "It's not important, yet it's so important that you won't tell me. You say you might tell me later, but you're trying to forget it now. Oh, Blondie. You speak in riddles. Remember, you're life is in my hands, now. I can do whatever I want...and no one will ever know."
The theif was still grinning as he reached for the knife on the table. "You see this," he said, "and you know what it can do. I could make you suffer; I could draw pictures on your flesh with this. I could chop of your fingers. I can take chunks of skin and muscle out of this," Dark reached out a hand, running his fingers tenderly over the blonde's sleeveless arm. "The things I could do," he said, slowly, "Oh, the things."
"Is it really so unimportant that you'd risk your life just to keep it from me?"

"My life lost it's importance years ago. Years and years ago when I ran away from my destiny and became the meek little inkeeper that you happened to take a liking too. I don't care what you do to me, nothing matters anymore, do you understand that?" The blonde watched the thief's hands and smirked. "But, if you do mark me as you say, won't I be worth less when you sell me?"

"Some guys like that," Dark said with a grin. He stood up and sheathed the sword. "But the smell of blood makes me sick. I'd rather you keep it where it's useful."

"Oh you know." Krad said, sighing and waving a hand in the air. "Destined to rule. The usual. What else would I be running from, eh?" He narrowed his eyes, and pushed a strand of his long blonde hair behind one of his ears. "That a good enough answer for you?"

A shadow crossed his features. "What a loser. Who would run from ruling? A noble, having everything he ever wanted delivered to him...Anything his heart desired. And you ran? Why, pray tell, would you do such a thing, Blondie?"

"Why did I run from it? Like I said. It was sickining. People fussing over me everyday; 'Oh he's so beautiful, the little darling angel, he'll be a wonderful ruler, everything will be perfect once Krad's of age' " He spat out the last line and gave a low growl. "I couldn't take it....so...I ran when I was fifteen...three days before I was to come of age. I worked with the innkeeper until I was eighteen, then the poor man died....and I took over the inn. My story. Happy now?"
