It was nice and all that his feelings were out in the open and not boiling within him, but Rin really didn't know what how she felt about having this guy love her. She'd been fighting against him the whole time and suddenly he says that he loves her and that he wants to be with her? It was too much.
"But--" she began, but cut herself short. Although she had been spitting acid at him the whole time, suddenly she was aware that he had feelings. And for some reason, she didn't want to hurt those feelings of his by saying the wrong thing. So she'd have to think carefully before she went and blurted something stupid.
"How can you love me?" Like that. "I just don't get it, I really don't."
She sighed and shook her head, pacing for a minute or so before turning back to him again. But every time she looked into his eyes, she melted. And she didn't want to melt. If she wanted to melt, she'd go running about in the sun.
But she still melted. And that's when she knew.
"I just... don't get it," she said softly, walking towards him. "Why me? I was so mean to you and yet you say that you love me. It's not natural. Any male would have turned away and looked for something easier. But you..." Why couldn't she figure him out? It was bugging her, but for some reason not really bothering her. For once, she was mellow with him.
"You love me. And I... I love you. Why am I talking like an idiot?" she laughed slightly, embarassed. She lowered her head and looked away, feeling as if she was making an idiot of herself.
Dumb! Dumb! Dumb! Way to go, Rin.

"I can love ya, Rin, 'cause I can see ya- ta' par' o' ya that ya' seem ta' neva' let otha's see but I can see it. It's full o' love, affection', kindness...it's ta' side o' ya that's there but ya' mask it. But it's beautiful, it's sweet- an' its somethin' that makes ya' shine if ya let it through." His voice spoke with a velvet, suave manner, soft and delicate as its words rang sweet.
He couldn't stop looking into her pools of blue within her eyes, being captivated as she was elusive, mysterious and quite the lioness. Rin was really something- Duzi knew this easily and couldn't deny it nor would he ever deny it.
"Whateva' it took- listen ta' ya' snap and spit acid, it was worth it. I was' willin' ta' fight fo' ya, I mean- hell, I didn't want ta' lose ya an' I wanted a chance. I wanted ta' prove myself ta' ya, facin' whateva' ya threw at me or did ta me- comin' back ta' you hopin' ta' have ya' love."
His smile widened across his maw, watching as she walked towards him. 'Duzi took several steps and purred softly.
"Trust me, sheila, you're worth it."
She loved him.
Loved him!
The words hit his ears and caused his heart within his chest to swell. He grinned, then tenderly nuzzled against her with a soft chuckle.
"You're not an' idiot," he replied, nudging against her. "You damn cleva', crafty an' hard' ta catch, and unda'stand but I'm not gonna eva' give up on that."
Looking int her eyes once more, 'Duzi rumbled softly. A part of him that he had kept hidden for so long, the part of him where he could feel comfortable expressing himself, his feelings and emotions, stirred within him. The last time he had ever felt so strong for another was for his family but, unfortunately, they had died during the famine and plauge. The love for his family- that immense sensation he held for them, helped him survive but, ever since being on his own, 'Duzi had locked that sensitive and compassionate part away from others.
But Rin..
How she awakened it was a miracle in itself and through her venomous words that she had spit at him, she had managed to be able to steal his heart.
"A little love is all it takes, Rin. A little love an' faith. I make an' oath ta' ya'- ya' 'ave my 'eart, my protection, I'll figh' for ya' till ta' end and ya' always 'ave my affection and support. And whateva' 'appens I'll stick it out till ta' end wid' ya'."

Rin smiled--really smiled--at him as he talked about the reasons why he could love her despite her spitting acid at him the whole time. He loved her despite how she had treated him because he had been able to see past her barrier, something that no one before him had been able to do. He had broken her down, but not to the point where she was so vulnerable that she simply shut down.
"And you do have my love," she spoke softly, smiling again. "Everything you went through, everything that I put you through, you've survived. And here I am, waiting for you at the finish line."
When he told her that she was worth it all, the female simply shuddered with delight. She'd had her crushes, of course, but none of them had ever gone anywhere. Why would they have? It wasn't until now that she had realized the true meaning of being appreciated, of having someone willing to give everything for her. And someone she'd be willing to give everything for in return.
He nudged her and she purred slightly, pressing herself close against him. As he spoke of how clever she was, she simply had to grin. "Well, I try," she laughed slightly. "And I'd hope you'd never give up on it, otherwise I just might have to sink my claws into you anyway." She bumped him and kneaded the ground for emphasis. But she was joking, of course.
"And you have my promise, Duzi," she spoke softly, almost whispering. "I promise that as I have your heart, you have mine. I will never stray from you, there's nothing in the world that would make me forget my love for you. I'm here for you, always by your side willing to help in any way. I'm forever yours," she spoke, leaning into him and curling her tail around his.

The crimson and black striped male smiled warmly, purring as emotions that had been forgotten, barracaded away coursed through his veins and their great, welcoming sensation flowing thorugh him. This whole time it was there- and both Rin and 'Duzi were too afraid, one was persistant while the other was uncertain and hesitant. Was it really love? Before, both would have shook their heads- perhaps curiosity and trying to make sense of one another or resist from gauging an eye out but, now, it made sense.
Love.
It was something there that wasn't something there before.
"Finish line?" 'Duzi mused, tiltig his head slightly with a grin. "Bu' this is only ta' beginin'- its ta' mark'a to a new future an' destiny wid' one anotha'."
Feeling her warmth against him, 'Duzi found comfort and his heart seemed to feel as if it would burst from out of his chest. As she laughed at his comment, the crimon and black striped male smirked. "Tryin' is an unda'statement," he nipped at her ear for a few moments, then slinked his muzzle across the side of her face.
"An' ya' know I'd neva' give up- an' if I do you can sink ya' claws in me fo' good," he winked, chuckling as he bumped her back with his side.
Hearing such sweet words, such loving words whisper from his maw, the male rested his head upon the back of her neck, bringing her closer towards him just as she leaned into him. "You're ta' only one who'd eva' 'ave my 'eart, and I'm ta' one ta' thank them 'bove fo' bein' ta' one that ya' givin' ya' 'eart to," he whispered, his voice calm, suave with a velvety ring. "I'll neva' leave ya' and I'll figh' anyone who'd dare try ta' 'arm you- I'll tear 'em apart," he grinned, leaning down as he tenderly planted a small lick upon her maw.
"I'm wid' ya fo' eternity and till ta' end o' time," he added, entwining his tail around hers as he couldn't help but gaze into her precious and priceless blue orbs.
She was his.
He was hers.
They were lovers.
