Aish tilted her head, still looking at him in a frank and appraising way. She wondered about his..reticence was the best way to describe it she felt. He was big stallion, strikingly coloured. But maybe that was it. The things she thought were physically appealing were maybe the things that he felt made him stand out too much. But this was all second-guessing.
'Really? Do you think that of me as well then?'
She wasnt a cruel mare, not by any stretch, but she also didnt want to press her company on somebody who didnt desire her being there.

"No! I mean...you seem very nice."
He had blurted out the "no" so quickly that he was slightly embarrassed. He only wanted to sound like he wasn't bothered by her, but wasn't desperate to have her stay. But he did enjoy her company so far. As the sun continued to set, he turned to watch the reflection on the water.
"I'm sorry I'm being so...strange. I'm just...not used to it"
Whatever "it" was to which he was referring, he didn't elaborate.

She smiled, swishing the braid a little before she spoke again.
'Well..thank you. I think I should be happy to get to know you better as well.'
She watched him, as he fell into what seemed a quiet moment of contemplation.
'I dont know about strange. Quiet. Shy maybe.' she said it gently so that he wouldnt think she was making any big deal about it.
'I would like you to be comfortable with me.'
In a way he reminded her of another..Aziraphale. At least Shikoba hadnt hurried away yet.

Shikoba took his attention away from the lake, and looked at Aishwarya, somewhat surprised.
"Really? You really think you would?"
He had never met somebody who hadn't been fed up with his being distant....somebody who wanted to stay and talk with him for a while. Maybe Aishwarya would be his first true friend.
"I think I'd like that, too."

'You seem almost shocked that I said that.' Aishwarya looked a little amused at his reaction, but tried not to laugh out loud at him.
'I think you are a little like me. You can be happy on your own. But for ever on your own becomes lonely even to the most secure of Soquili.'
she tilted her head and looked at Shikoba.
'Did you want to walk around, or did you want to stay here?'

Honestly, Shikoba had been a little shoced. Most of the others he had met had not seemed to interested in getting to know him any better.
"Well, I think I come off as rude sometimes, so I don't really make many friends."
He pondered her next question. He loved sitting by the lake, but he had been there all day, and Aishwarya seemed like she wanted to walk around a bit.
"Let's take a walk. Get a little change of scenery."
He thought about what she said, about being on your own. She had said that being alone can be lonely for even the most secure Soquilil. So even though he was trying to seem proud and secure, it was ok to make friends, and to let your guard down? She offered a new perspective on the way he had been.

'I suppose it depends on how you convey yourself.' Aishwarya flicked her tail out from around her legs and started to move slowly along the bank of the Lake.
'Its up to you if you like to be on your own sometimes but you just have to express that in a good way, not everyone will understand it.'
She smiled faintly and looked back at Shikoba.
'You're a big guy so I cant see you having too much trouble over that though. I cant imagine many stallions wanting to pick a fight or anything.' she injected just a tiny bit of a flirtatious tone in her voice as she spoke, flattering him as she did so.

Shikoba went along as Aishwarya began to stroll along the bank. He watched he black tail catch the light of the setting sun as she flicked it out from around her legs.
When she spoke about his size and how other stallions wouldn't want to pick a fight, he looked up in surprise, but quickly looked down, as he felt his cheeks beginning to get warm. Was he actually blushing? He couldn't believe it! But actually....what she said made him feel kind of good. The way she had said it...it sounded as if she liked him being big, and knowing that others wouldn't carelessly pick a fight with him.
"Are you complimenting me?" He grinned a bit, sensing that Aishwarya was growing to like him more and more. And he knew that he was growing to like her as well.

Aishwarya stopped further down the Lakeside, watching the colours of the sun that were reflected in the ripples of the water. Her eyes flicked over to his and then she let out a what for her was quite a girlish little laugh.
'Is that so very strange?'
So very like Aziraphale, she mused to herself. At least he hadnt fled yet!
'I speak my mind when I take the time talk to someone. It was a compliment because I think you are worth that.'

He felt his cheeks reddening again, but he smiled a bit, and didn't try to hide his face this time.
"Well thank you. I am glad you think I am worth such a compliment."
He also looked at the beautifully reflected colours on the surface of the lake. He then looked back at Aishwarya. She was so beautiful to him. She herself was very worthy of the highest compliments. He wanted to tell her, but he didn't want to sound like an idiot.
"You know....I think you're very beautiful..."
He almost held his breath, waiting to see what her reaction would be.

'Wouldnt have said it otherwise.'
Aish wandered right down to the Lake and dipped a hoof in, then took it back out, the hoof darker from where the water had cleaned away the dust. He fell quiet and so did she. This was probably the moment when he would scamper away like a colt and so when he did speak and complimented her right back she was a little surprised. Pleased as well. Her looks had never been important to her, but everyone liked being told that after all.
'Thank you Shikoba.' she said, turning her warmest smile on him, dipping her head a little as she did so.

Shikoba exhaled as she took his compliment. He was glad to see that she appreciated it. He saw her lower her head, and he grinned to himself. So he wasn't the only one here who got a little flushed when they were given a compliment. He smiled, and moved closer to Aishwarya. He lowered his head, and with the end of his muzzle, gently lifted her head up.
He spoke softly. "There's no need to hide your face."
He smiled at her and watched her eyes. Her beautiful golden eyes perfectly matched the markings on her body. As he turned to look once more at the reflection of the sunset on the lake, he sighed, happy to have met Aishwarya today.

Aishwarya wasnt one to get flustered. So she'd always thought. Maybe that was a little - that was slightly prideful and now she knew it because Shikoba had gotten to her. But she wasnt one of those mares...she'd made a promise to herself not to get carried away with her feelings because she didnt want the pain that it often bought. She didnt want to be a mare that 'tumbled' with the first one that put a blush to her cheeks either.
The feeling that she got when his muzzle brushed against hers was strong though and that she couldnt deny. Keep your head.. she said to herself, trying to sort her inner calm first. She looked back at Shikoba and when he looked away she let out a breath. How could she explain herself to him? She didnt want him to think that her words had been empty; they hadnt.
Aish wanted the feelings..any feeling she gave to another to be perfectly genuine.

Shikoba heard as Aishwary exhaled, and as he looked at her, he could tell that she was battling with something on the inside.
"Are you all right?"
He hoped that he hadn't caused her to become uncomfortable. Perhaps he was overly excited about this new friendship, and had begun to show his feelings too soon. If that was the case, he truly hadn't meant to. He just felt so comfortable around Aishwarya. More comfortable than he had ever felt around anybody.

Aishwarya nodded quickly;
'I'm fine,' she said, not sure if she was reassuring him or herself. But maybe it wasnt fair to answer that way. After all 'I'm fine' never sounded too genuine.
'I'm...I guess I'm having trouble knowing how to tell you this. You are a wonderful stallion and I can tell you have some feelings towards me, and I appreciate that very much.' she paused, a gentle expression on her face and she smiled a little.
'But I'm not...I cant say what I dont feel. I have to be honest in everything, and I like you. If there is something else. I think there could be.' she said the words softly.'
But it needs time. For me anyway.'
