Ahote chuckled as Harij mimicked him. He really hadn't met such a strange Soquili before. He seemed a bit confused about things. He was surprised to hear that Harij didn't know where he came from. He had thought that Shikoba was the only one.
"Really?! You don't know where you're from either? That's so weeeirrrd!"
He mulled this thought over in his mind. It would be a kind of strange feeling, not knowing where you're from. He imagined that maybe this was why Harij was so confused. Now that he thought about it, Shikoba seemed pretty confused sometimes, too.

The little pony was looking him over like he had something big and shiny stuck to his face. Probably did, that was his luck for the most part. Oh great, was he an emo-horse now? Hopefully not it just bothered him to think of being a total outcast when life could hold so many splendid surprises if he just chose to accet them.
Great. Now he sounded a lot like a stupid greeting card. Next question, what's a greeting card?
Was it so very weird to have no clue where one came from? Well, then it was up to him to sooth the pony just a little bit. Not so much suck-up but just let him know that having a very limited memory didn't make life weird, it just made it without a true childhood. "I don't mind it, life isn't so bad." There, that would help out even if only a little bit.

Ahote frowned a little but. What was with these stallions who couldn't remember. Didn't they care? Both Harij and Shikoba didn't care that they didn't know anything about their past. To Ahote, that was a pretty sad thing, not to know how you came to be here.
But he had already tried helping Shikoba, and he had made it clear that he didn't want help, so he figured that Harij would be the same way. So...what to ask next?
"Well, where do you live now? I live over in the mountains over there."
He indicated towards the distant mountains looming in the east. They seemed so far, and so much smaller than they actually were.

Darn. It seemed that telling the pony that it didn't really matter if his past was known or unkown hadn't been the smartest move on his part. Well... Crud. Shaking out his mane, his two amber eyes managed to focus back on the conversation. Hopefully the pony hadn't said anything while he was off and into his own world.
Okay.. just focus for a bit longer. Maybe he should ask some questions of his own? Ack, question-asking wasn't really his forte.
"I.. don't have a home." Wow.. seemed like he was failing all of the questions that he'd been asked, "I've not found a place I want to call home."
Other stallions were really overly protective of the dirt beneath their hooves. To Harij it didn't really matter all that much so long as he had food, water, and maybe someday some love.

Ahote thought on this for a moment. Well, he had always had a home, and never really knew anybody who didn't have a home. Was this Harij an orphan of some sort? Well, maybe he needed a home.
"Well, I have a nice home. Its up in the mountains. There's lots of room and stuff. Maybe you could live there, too! Its nice having a home, ya know?"
Ahote chuckled to himself a bit. He wondered how Shikoba would react if he were to randomly bring another stallion to live at their isolated clearing in the mountains.

Harij could nearly see the cranks shifting, twisting, and turning in the small little pony's mind. "Small" and "Little" that didn't mean too much to him, but since when did he describe others? Oh no, the mind was becoming overrun with adjectives.
"Oh? Well, maybe I will have to considering doing that." The idea of living with other people didn't really agree with him too much yet, but it didn't sound too bad.
Awhile ago he had run into a green shamrock stallion that had invited him to come to his herd. Apparently three others were in that herd but a pregnant mare, and his herd would be expanding it.

Ahote's face lit up. He hadn't expected Harij to even consider his offer, but he said he would consider it!
"Really, are you serious?! That would be so cool!"
Ahote was excited about the idea of another Soquili living with him. Of course there was Shikoba, but he was always so rude to him, so it would be nice to have a friend with him.
But he hadn't actually said 'yes', so Ahote calmed himself and tried not to get his hopes up.
"So...do you like the mountains?"

Bonus points. While Harij knew he may be a bit of an introvert and a bit confused about the finer points of society, he did know when he had said something kind or helpful to make another person smile.
"Well, I don't really have any place in particular that I have to be.. So why not consider all of my options before choosing?"
Jeez, the little guy certainly had taken a liking to the idea. And then his mind wandered... How long had they been standing there? What was he going to do later? Would a bunch of others be in the mountains if he went with...?
All these questions and more bounced around in his brain to the point where he almost missed the final question that Ahote asked.
"Uhh... I don't really know."

Well, if he had never been to the mountains, Ahote would have to fix that issue. They could go right now! Not necessarily to the clearing that he called home, but just take a walk around. He himself loved the mountains. He was quite nimble on the steep and sometimes rocky sides, and loved wandering around there.
"Do you wanna go to the mountains now? I know how to get around on them. They're really cool!"

Ack, three question in a row. Wait, if he answered correctly it'd only take one sentance, "I haven't been, so no opinion which means I don't know." Maybe a bad sentance.. but it worked.
Did he want to go up to see the mountains? Visiting the place probably wouldn't be bad at all. Actually they looked relatively pretty with their white caps and the hazyness that seemed to be floating around. Oh hell, why not? you only get to live once. Which was quite obvious of a phrase.. weird.
"Alright, I'll go with you... If they're as cool as you believe them to be then it will be time well spent."

Ahote reared back on his hind legs a bit. He could show Harij how great the mountains were! It was nice to see that the stallion was at least a little interested. Up until now it seemed that he didn't really have an opinion on anything.
"Great! Let's go! They're really pretty. I think you'll like them!"
Ahote turned towards the mountains in the distance and trotted towards them, turning around to see if Harij was following.

Why did he have the almost irresistable urge to burst into giggles? The giggling noise itself wasn't overly manly and that alone was probably what kept Harij from doing so. The little Ahote certainly had more than his fair share of excitement about the world in general. Seeing the moutins would give him something to do and perhaps if he huffed and puffed a as-if he wasn't used tot he exercise he'd be allowed to avoid talking.
"Whoo, alright.. I'm sure I will too?" There... even a bit of enthusiasm.
Ahote had picked up a trot which meants that Harij just had to walk behind him at a suitable pace. They could go side-by-side probably but that'd mean a bit more focus on footing if anything along the way become narrow. The little one seeme to enjoy talking over focusing, but then too harij was the one that hadn't had experiance on mountains.

Ahote kept glancing behind him, making sure Harij was still there. They approached the mountains farily quickly. In no time, they were at the foot of the nearest mountin.
"I think you're really gonna like it! There's lots of different kinds of animals there. Lots of fuzzies that live in the trees. And lots of different birds. I really like them."
As Ahote began climbing the gentle slopes at the bottom, he looked upward, quickly tracing out a path that they could take.

Harij kept one ear pricked backwards to make sure that he didn't get lost. If for some reason the pony wouldn't take him back to where they had been, Harij needed to be able to go himself. Indeed, it wouldn't suit him in the least to be forced to live somewhere or to just go on his own way without a clue.
"Well.. I hope so too?" Birds and fuzzy things? Didn't the forest, meadows, and streams have those things too? All well, maybe these did more spectacular things.
The bigger stallions eyes paid attention to where the small stallion's eyes went and that helped soothe his worry. As long as he knew where they were headed life would be alright.

Ahote giggled as he continued climbing. Harij seemed very uncomfortable with his voice. As if he wasn't used to using it.
"You really sound funny sometimes. Everytime you say something it sounds like an answer."
He giggled again, taking a little hop up to a small ledge, taking them closer to the top of the mountain.
