He felt somewhat like a hypocrite.. giving Lilianna all this advice and not really following through with it himself. But then.. he hoped that she would do as he said... not as he did. Although he had a feeling that hsi change of subject would distract her. Lilianna was incredibly naive, although a part of him felt bad for trying to keep things from her. But what could he say? It was all in her best interest. It was a habit that Edward hadn't ever broken. He was far too secretive for his own good sometimes, but he had the best of intentions. Even though that wasn't always a good thing.
"Yeah... apparently one of Envy's spawn was involved" he said in a displeased manner. He wasn't happy that Atae had gotten mixed up in that, but there was no changing it. Atleast she was going to be alright. His smile returned though at Lilianna's enthusiasm regarding the return of those he knew. "Yep! She'll probably kill me when she finds out that someone else tampered with my automail." Aheh.

Liliana blinked at that. "Kill you? But what would she have you do, wear automail that didn't fit forever when you'd no idea if she'd ever be here or not?" Her eyes were thoughtful both on that and... "Atae... I should go to her. I've potions that could help speed her recovery." Her eyes flicked to her bag resting on the edge of the porch and back. and maybe a trace of Mother's healing magic... but I can't be sure yet...
And Endless would likely be there. A warmth rushed through her at the thought. Now that Ed had suggested it and she had made the decision to see him Liliana found she wanted to see Endless very, very much. While she had avoided everyone as much as possible this last week -except for her lessons with Severus & Zell and her one short talk with Ginny- wanting to see Endless or Edward was what broke into the solitude of her thoughts time and again. Now with Ed here, only missing Endless remained.
She could not know what her best friend was keeping from her. Not with the way she had always avoided noticing feelings. Liliana trusted him, and in her way loved him. She knew she would be devastated without him. Or Endless. They both meant so much more to her than she ever could have thought they would.
A sudden thought that had shifted away from her when Ed had asked about her & Endless. "Edward... did you find Roy? Did he have answers for you?"

Edward laughed while taking that moment to flop down upon the grass and roll onto his back, staring up at the canopy of trees and the sky beyond. "She'll get over it.. Winry's just very passionate about automail."
At Lilianna's mention of seeing Atae and helping her recover, he nodded. "That's a good idea... she broke her leg I think. So it'll take awhile for her to heal." Anything that sped up the process would be good and help Atae feel better.
As far as his feelings went, he tried to put them out of his mind. He hadn't really thought much of it until Endless made his own confession. He and Lili had been friends for some time now... and he could feel a bit of jealousy creep up inside of him. He didn't like the idea of someone having her all to himself. After all.. he'd known her longer. But Lilianna was oblivious to feelings, and Edward had a hard time expressing anything romantic. Although now that he thought of it... he had been engaging in some competition with Endless. What with the other giving her a gift, and he following suit later on.
Edward shook his head, trying to rid himself of those silly thoughts. But Lilianna was right there next to him.. and he had to admit, she is pretty. Not to mention the most caring Kitsu he knew. Lili's question about Roy was a welcome distraction and he frowned before shaking his head, "I found him... but he didn't know anything."

She giggled as he rolled over, finding it very cute. Relaxing she flopped beside him. Gold tipped ears fell limp at the sound of a frown in his voice talking about Roy. She had hoped... Well there was no point living in the past was there? Daddy told them of his before, then also said how here & now was better -that he would rather have them than anything.
Lily rolled her head to nuzzle her friend. "What matters is you're here, now. I won't let Envy repeat what you remember if I can do anything about it. Let's focus on pleasant things. Like Alphonse & Winry coming." With a small sound of relief Lily leaned her head on his chest, as usual thinking nothing of it. Her naivity was centered around more of an obliviousness; a matter of not thinking along certain lines.
Until those lines were set ahead of here were she could not avoid them. Like now with Endless. "Edward... have you ever thought of having kits when you're full grown?"

That was something he kept telling himself. What's done is done and now all he can do is continue living. The nuzzle surprised him a little, but her words were comforting. The teen turning his head to look at her.. and finding himself practicly nose to nose with Lilianna. Eyes widened and his nose and ears reddened in a blush. He looked away quickly, "Thanks Lil." She's a good friend... but only a friend. Right? Right. Cough.
Although his blush intensified when Lilianna's head rested on his chest. While she didn't think much of it... it was hard for him not to. Despite his denial of any feelings... he was still a guy. He didn't know what to say... so he didn't say anything.
His eyes became round and wide in a moment of quiet panic as Lilianna brought up kits. If it wasn't for his fur, his entire face would be beet red. "Um... well... I guess.. uh... I haven't really thought about it." What on earth had brought this on?

She was not immune to the feel of Edward's body beneath her head. Warmth, comfort, happiness, and a trace of some excitement Liliana could never place even when she thought about it. Lily only felt like this around Edward and Endless. They were her closest friends and there had never been a reason to wonder at such feelings. Especially when she did not think of her feelings at all on average. They were simply there.
But Lily heard Ed's pausing, and noted the difficulty he seemed to be having with the question. Her brow ridge quirked, and an apology hung in her green eyes. She never intended to embarrass him. "I hadn't either. But love... love like Endless has for me, well if I feel that way too..." Her face became very warm. "Well, I do know where kits come from and...."
oh maybe this was a bad idea. Now she was thinking, and wondering, and...
Liliana let her ears fall and cross over her face obscuring her eyes. "Nevermind. That's a silly way to try to logic it out. And feelings aren't logical, are they?"
Silence. Then. "Maybe we should just go see Atae?"

Finding himself draping his flesh paw over Lilianna's shoulders, Ed sighed as he tried to compose himself. Swallowing hard, he ventured a glance down at Lili. The teen deciding to atleast somewhat enjoy this moment, as it might not ever come again. Although he coughed loudly when she mentioned that she knew where kits came from. He did too, after all. His ears folding back at the very embarassing thought of it.
"To hell with logic" Edward muttered, noticing that her ears covered her face. "Feelings are what make you who you are. You should embrace them." He cringed at that... knowing how hypocritical he sounded just then. He didn't say anything at her suggestion of going to see Atae. He didn't... really want to, as bad as that sounded. She could wait a bit longer.
Although it was difficult for him to say.. knowing that his friend would be drifting farther away from him the more she came to realize what feelings she had for Endless. "If you feel that you love Endless... then... you should go for it."

Liliana sighed, relaxing as his paw enveloped her. The ears covering her face started to slide to the side, and her small body -though larger than the teen- pooled against Edward's.
She flinched a little at his mutter then peeked out from behind a sliding ear when Edward cringed, feeling the movement through their proximity. Her tails flicked as she let his words sink in. One ear finished sliding from her face and Lily gave the alchemist a half smile. "If I find it's what I want... I'll go for it."
Even though she spoke softly her voice had the added affect as if she had said 'you can count on it' from her quiet conviction. Her wings lay softly behind her like a feathery blanket. "Maybe it will be clearer when I see him again, now that I've had time to digest the idea." A soft chuckle vibrated within the crimson female and her feathers shook.
"I don't know what I'd do without you, Edward."

Hm. Edward's golden gaze looked up at the sky quietly as he let himself relax as well. And while this probably wasn't the time that he really wanted to take a nap... he still felt his eyelids growing heavy. He'd been traveling for awhile and now was in a warm and comfortable position. It was far too tempting to fall asleep. The teen trying to stay away as he listened to Lilianna's voice. Her closeness making it very hard to ignore his feelings.
"Good... I want you to be happy" he told her. That's all that really mattered... was her happiness. If she would be happy with Endless, then who was he to stand in their way?
The fullmetal alchemist laughed lightly, pressing his nose against her cheek before he really even thought about it. "It would be boring!" he joked in a lighthearted manner. "I don't know what I'd do without you either. You're the best friend I have." Without her... he probably wouldn't have made many friends and would just be stuck studying his alchemy all the time.
Unable to suppress a yawn, Edward leaned his head back into the grass and continued staring upward at the sky. Atleast he had her friendship if nothing else.

Logically, no... now was not the best time for a nap. Liliana could hear the sounds of Zell continuing his workout despite the sun overhead. Of course it was spring and the cool breeze made everything more comfortable. If she was Hemi she would have purred as his nose touched her cheek, causing a small shiver to course through her body. Instead she sighed happily, not really knowing why. A small giggle as she nodded a bit against his chest. "Very boring! But we'll always be best friends, so we'll never be bored."
A happy sigh escaped as she breathed out, and when she spoke next she sounded very soft, sleepy, and content. "I'm happiest with you & Endless. Happy with my family -most of them, most of the time- now. I never stopped to think... how much... I love the two of you."
Her voice faded to an inaudible whisper as Lily drifted to a state just before sleeping. She could easily nap or be woken with little work either direction. Her breathing making her body rise and fall gently.

While now was not the best time to sleep... it seemed that Lilianna was beating him to it. Edward lifted his head again to look at her as she spoke. Feeling his hear warm with every word she said... however it nearly stopped when he heard her say that she loved the both of them. Edward was stunned... silent for several moments. Could it be that she felt the same way for both he and Endless... but hadn't really known it herself?
He had to think about this. Golden eyes on Lilianna as she dozed, the alchemist thinking she'd fallen asleep. What the hell... its not like she was awake anyway.
"I... love you too, Lili" he said softly, and gave a gentle lick to her forehead. THERE... he said it... even if she was asleep. But that took a weight off his chest, so to speak... although Lilianna's head was still there. Which he was fine with. Yet again his head sunk into the grass, figuring if she's going to sleep, he might as well too. Thus, Edward closed his eyes and let his weariness take him.

Even with her new physical regimen pushing her to actually being tired at the end of the day, this was the first time in over a week she had relaxed quite so much. So, though she was not fully asleep Edward's soft words were not enough to draw her from the call of slumber tugging at her body and mind. But a gold tipped ear twitched, catching the words and a small sleepy smile lifted the corners of Liliana's mouth as the words found their way to her head and heart.
Perhaps when she woke and what he said dawned upon her alert & awake mind Liliana might react differently. For now the knowledge in her heart filled her with peace.
Not to far away, Zell stopped in his training to look on the two friends, fallen asleep on the soft covering of the glade. His left paw rose to rub absently at the tattoo on his face. He had only been here a week and was still in essence moving in and learning who he lived with, but training Liliana he knew a little about her situation. He was a talker, after all. So he had a piece here, a piece there until he felt he had enough of the puzzle to not be entirely lost on the matter.
Or so he thought.
Shrugging his shoulders Zell went back to his workout being careful to keep quiet while keeping an eye on the friends. If they were that tired, they didn't need to be disturbed.

The afternoon seemed to melt away as the two kitsu slept soundly beside each other. Edward's paw unmoving from Lilianna. It was a few hours later, when the sun was dipping low in the sky... that the rumbling of his own stomach awoke him with a start. Stupid stomach! Although he was getting hungry.. with all that traveling he hadn't eaten a good meal in several days and he was being rudely reminded of that fact.
Blinking open a pair of golden, groggy eyes... Edward grunted slightly as he felt a weight on his chest. Looking up to see Lilianna's head there. Oh... right. His maw parted in a yawn and he reached his automail paw up to gently touch her face. The hard, cool digits doing their best to be gentle. "Hey... Lili... wake up" he said softly, also giving her a light shake upon the shoulders with his flesh paw. He really didn't want to disturb her, but well.. they had to get up at some point. Plus... dinner would likely be ready soon.

Relaxed, Liliana stirred gently at the attempts to wake her. Her mouth opened in a small yawn and her hind end rose in a sleepy stretch which her wings spread out to match. Slowly her green eyes opened and Lily smiled serenely. Her head had not quite caught up to what her heart remembered, but the effects of the knowing were there in the peacefullness she showed.
"Hey." She said softly, white and gold tails swaying behind her, head still lightly resting on the teen's chest.

Edward smiled, although he didn't realize that Lilianna.. be it her subconscious or whatever... had heard what he said. He gave her another nudge with his paw, "Hey... C'mon, if we're going to go see Atae, then we should eat and get going before it gets dark." Unless she wanted to wait until tomorrow, which he was fine with.
Slowly, the teen pulled himself out from under Lilianna and stood up. Edward's back arching in a feline type way as he stretched. The synthetic muscles of his automail creaking as he did so. With a lash of his tails he gave Lili a boyish grin and tilted his head towards the house. "C'mon!" And with that, he bounded in the direction of the little structure. Pushing the door open and letting himself inside.
