I don't really like beer, but when I do drink it I usually drink darker ales. I prefer wines, but I still wouldn't drink them often.
And meh, I think Gin and tonic is alright, but it was mostly just used to get the British to drink medicine to prevent scurvy and malaria back in the day.

Well, that's not much different than the origin of various soda pops being intended for medicinal purposes, especially cola.

Hm, my friend took a rain check on the drinking, he wasn't feeling so hot last night. Which is fine, because yeah, it's not like something I was really looking forward to -- and after all, I did buy a wine cooler at the grocery store on my birthday just to do it, regardless of if I gave it to my roomie or drank it or what. xd
Still dunno what I would drink, next time the situation arises. I might go to the bar sometime with just a few people, I don't really like the big crowd so meh. Good stuff!

Happy (late) birthday, Kilana!
I'm only nineteen and don't really care for the taste of alcohol, so I can't really give you any advice. I do like the taste of daiquiri, though.

I'd like to get an Irish coffee again sometime, I hadn't realized how nice those could be.

21 here. XP
I'm usually not a huge fan of alcohol, though my two favorites are Alpine Spice and Strawberry Zinfandel. (Both wines)
Alpine Spice you can only get from Pennsylvania, so you have to order it off the internet if you want it in a different state. Thing is, you have to serve it mulled/hot since it tastes muuuuuch better that way. (Plus you also can't taste the alcohol at all) It basically tastes like a hot liquid apple pie. heart It's more a dessert wine.
Oh! And Watermelon Vodka was good too, seeing as I usually can't stand the taste of Vodka. That SKYY kind burned my throat when I had a jello shot with it once.

Happy super late birthday! heart
Alcohol tastes and smells odd to me. I like the sweetened stuff [yay pina coladas!] but that's the extent of it. I really just have no desire to drink, even when there's an open bottle of something in my hand.
I want a Kick the Cheat. xD Or a Cheat hoodie.

(Belated) Happy Birthday.
I started off with mixed drinks once I started drinking. My favorites are rum and coke, Black Russians, and Vodka n' Red Bull. Usually with Vodka n Red Bull you don't taste the alcohol when you're drinking it. Also, you can sometimes end up wide awake and bouncy when you get drunk on them. I know when I drink that with friends I end up bouncing around everywhere. Though since you can't taste the alcohol and feel it as readily as some drinks I'd say be careful you don't drink too much.
Irish Car Bombs are good too. Pint glass filled half way with Guinness. Shot glass with half a portion of Bailey's and half of Jameson's. Drop the shot glass into the pint glass of Guinness and drink it as fast as you can. If you don't and take your time it'll curdle the drink. Goes down smooth, and no after taste.
Started developing a taste for beer several years ago. It really can be an acquired taste. Guinness, Newcastle, and Stella Artois are my favorites right now.
I really recommend to be careful when drinking. Pay attention to your body and how you're reacting to the alcohol. Learn what your limits are and obey them. Getting puking drunk is not fun, and neither are hangovers. I've also seen people not obey their limits and almost end up in an ER. Have fun and be safe. smile

@ Aivi: Kick The Cheat is super awesome. I'd totally get a The Cheat hoodie too, but I already have my WoW one and I don't need any more right now. <<; But Kick Teh C brightens up my crummy days, I just come home and smack him around a few times. Oh and I totally relate on the no desire to drink thing, it just doesn't interest me I guess. Not something I'm gonna go out of my way to do.
As for the alcohol thing, I STILL haven't gone out to the bar and got a real drink. I did have a wine cooler, and didn't really feel any different. A little weird, and slightly tired, but I didn't really feel much different. But yeah, I don't think I want to get like totally wasted, I've seen what it does to people and it doesn't look that fun. xd
Thanks for all the belated birthday wishes. heart

Personally I would go for apple snaffs. Its pretty awesome and you get really drunk of it aswell whee One shot of apple snaffs makes the beer you drink after it "drinkable". But then again for just one drink I think you should rather go into the more "candy" like licors. The kind where you just drink one glass cause its nice. Like Baily's. Its lovely, its like liquid candy, but I cant stand drinking more then one glass of the stuff.
Here in Iceland you can get married at age 18. And yet you can not drink alcholoe til 21. So if you do get married at 18 you have to go get a special permit to go buy the whine for the guests in your marrage and the licence states specifically that you are not going to drink any yourself. And that its just for your guests.... ^^'
P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! heart
