You know their are more than 12 olympian gods. There is always 12 at one given time put there has been up to 17 members I think. Demeter, Dionysus, Heracles and ********* of the gods and goddess of youth)( are often counted as members (can't remeber the other 2...). Hades is often not counted as an olympian usually Dionysus the god of wine is in his place, the same as Demeter with Hestia who is hardly mentioned. All Jordan said was correct though, i'm just stating there are other olympians^^

Demeter is the Greek goddess of vegetation and fruitfulness. She was the daughter of Cronos and Rhea. Like her Roman counterpart Ceres she was especially associated with corn. Demeter possessed powers of growth and even resurrection. Demeter means "mother earth". The dead were actually known as "Demeter's people". Her most famous myth would have to be the abduction of her daughter Persephone by Hades. Zeus allowed this without even consulting Demeter which caused the goddess to stop eating and lose all interest in fertility. The plants languished, animals ceased to multiply and people feared for their future. Eventually Zues had to intervene and allowed Persephone to go back to her mother if she had not eaten anything in Hades's realm. Though she had eaten a miniscule amount of food (Some say a few pomegranate seeds) Persephone was allowed to go back to her grieving mother Demeter for 1/2 the year during the spring and summer months. That is the reason winter occurs, it is because Demeter loses all interest in fertility when her daughter leaves her for the underworld.
