Ah yes... Lilianna could be so naive and clueless sometimes. Edward just shook his head his smile never fading although he noticed the troubled look in her eyes. "It was just a joke, Lili" he told her, "After all... even Winry, Al and I could get into fights now and then. It happens sometimes... plus when I was away, I never wrote to Winry.. and because of that she'd always yell and throw wrenches at me whenever I came home. But it was all in good fun... we never hated each other." Needless to say... he and Winry had quite the interesting... friendship going on there. A sort of passive aggreesive one you might say... and just outright agressive at some points. But there was always happy moments as well. Surely that hadn't been what was bothering Lili?

She pouted softly, thinking about it. "I never said you hated each other. Only why you'd be someone to "deal with". However..." And green eyes darted at him piercingly. "If you didn't write me I'd be tempted to throw things at you too!! Why didn't you write her?"

"Its just a figure of speech, that's all Lili." He chuckled and shook his head. She tried to make things more complicated than they actually were. At her piercing gaze, he blinked, his eyes widening slightly before he gave a nervous laugh and rubbed at the back of his head, "Well I guess that's something you two have in common." He then paused... "Well... I dunno. I was busy a lot and it just didn't occur to me as much as it should have, I guess. Plus I didn't want to worry her with the... details of what we were doing. Searching for the Philosopher's stone and all."

Lily had to giggle as he rubbed his neck, almost feeling guilty for picking on him. Gently she touched a spot beyond his paw with her nose & huffed softly. "You can say you're alive with a simple 'hi' without having to tell any details, you know. Maybe it's a girl thing or a non-adventurer thing, but ... we worry." There was more softness & tenderness to her tone than chastising, though that was there too. "Some kind of communication to show you're all right... to show you still remember... Next time you 'get busy alot'." Grinning Lily rammed her shoulder lightly to his. "But we have that in common, huh? Is that a good thing?"
Green eyes glinted playfully.

The playfulness wasn't missed, and he blushed lightly as she nosed and nudged him. "I guess you're right" he admitted quietly. Edward usually had good intentions, but sometimes they were rather misplaced. The two of them did seem to have a lot in common didn't they? Was that a good thing? "I think so" he replied honestly, "There's... not many in this world that really understand me, but I think you do. You're my best friend Lili... I trust you.. I... love you." He 'heh'ed and looked a little sheepish, "I don't know if I believe in soul mates.. but if I have one... you might be it." He hoped he wasn't coming on too strong, as he didn't want to ruin anything or push her, but he was being honest.

Lily licked lightly at his blush, a growing warmth inside her even as her fear mounted. He went serious as she went playful, she went serious when he was playful... coincidence? When he said she might be his soul mate the petite femme froze more than tensed beside him. She knew of the concept. Her father had a Soul Brother, which was similar but different. Very different. The 'mate' made it so. Kits. Touches. Liliana shuddered and burrowed into Edward's side.
"I trust you, Edward. It's me I'm unsure of lately. Love... it has so very many degrees in my home. It's... hard for me to judge." She was not going to go into how her heart raced or how she wanted to be kissed again and her cheeks pressed into his neck warmed. "It's too important for me to be wrong... I wouldn't try a potion without being sure..." It might have been hard for him to hear her, muzzle not leaving his neck as she whispered softly, if his ears were not so close to the source.

Edward swallowed hard as things took a turn in the direction he hadn't wanted or intended. He put his paw around her as she snuggled up to him, feeling somewhat awkward and unsure of what to say. His ears were pressed back and lowered against his head, so he did catch most of Lilianna's whisperings.
"I'm sorry" He hadn't meant to bring all this up and make her feel sad and uncomfortable again... he was trying to do the opposite. Again Edward mentally kicked himself for his foolishness. He thought he had been doing so well.. and now he completely blew it.
He wasn't about to give up though, and so Edward tried to turn the situation around. "So how about another story, huh?" His grin soon returning as he looked down at her. "There was this one time Al and I had a stupid argument in the middle of town. I don't even remember what it was about, exactly. But we used our alchemy and totally disfigured the main street" he laughed as he recalled the matter, "I won of course... and we made up in the end, like we always did. Al's too much of a softy to hold a grudge for very long."

She snuggled beneath his paw, giggling softly at his story. If she had known Edward thought her sad she would have told him that was not the case. Worried, yes. But not quite sad. Duel natured, with a heart both heavy with the burden of choice upon it but light with love. And uncomfortable... again not quite. Only because the situation they were in overall could not be far from her thoughts for more than a moment for Liliana understood that the longer she prolonged likely the harder it would be on all of them. But she was very comfortable. Perhaps too comfortable.
"He sounds a lot like Hemi. Except for the fighting part. I don't think Hemi's ever fought with anyone." Smiling she stretched a little while still snuggling close. She was still giggling imagining a main street & its building in shambles because of a fight. Something like she and MauCho might do if they had been more upfront and ever came to blows. Not as likely now, with Liliana not seeing her as competition.
Were her friends competing for her? The thought had her ears pressed to her head for a moment. Until she could push it away. Shaking her head Lily smiled. "Did you at least fix the street afterward?" The crimson female teased in a fake admonishing tone, green eyes dancing. "Because if you didn't..." Lily left the threat opened but made a sharp biting sound near his ear then laughed.

He's never been the snuggling type, but Edward was finding it easier with Lilianna. Ed use to feel incredibly awkward whenever she nuzzled him or whatever. Gradually he'd grown accustomed to it and he really didn't mind at all anymore. However, he was still working on returning such gestures as they just didn't come naturally to him. The teen's own concerns about Lilianna's mood melted away as she giggled at his story.
"Hemi's a good kid" Edward agreed, not realizing that Lilianna's youngest sibling actually wasn't a kid anymore. Aheh. Come to think of it, he can't ever recall fighting with Lilianna either. With as big a mouth as he had, that was amazing... but then... Lilianna was so mildly tempered it was hard to get into a fight with her. Plus, he never had the desire to hurt her feelings either.
As far as he and Endless, the two rarely even spoke to each other, so there was little room for actual competition... atleast blatantly. Her question broke him from his thoughts and he sideglanced at Lili... eyes going big when she snapped near his ear. He laughed as well, sheepishly... "Of course we did! ... After everything settled down and we got yelled at by the towns people."

Chuckling softly, Liliana did not seem to mind that the snuggling was one-sided as she relaxed once more into her best friend. "Good. I'd like to think you would have fixed it without being pressured though."
Another soft jibe.
"Yeah. Hemi's a good kid. Grows so fast though." Even adult and bigger than she was he would always be her baby brother. She sighed softly, a question forming in her mind that she did not really want to voice right now. Why potentially blemish a perfect moment?

"Aheh..." was his continued sheepish reply, sweatdropping just a little bit. Edward was quite the mischevious guy back then, he still is actually. An ear tilted towards Lilianna as she spoke of her brother, causing him to wonder. "I bet he's bigger than me now, huh?" Although the question was light... he was seriously wondering in his mind. Many kits had outgrown him and arrived to adult status since he was but a kit himself. Like Terasu... he had guarded his egg and his feathered 'brother' had been an adult for some time now. Lilianna's siblings would probably do the same. He had to wonder what was wrong with him. Even as a human, his growth wasn't -that- slow compared to the rest of the kids in the world. Not so much the people started to question his age. Edward knew that he was supposed to be an adult by now, which lead him to think... did that matter to Lilianna? She hadn't said so... infact she told him once that it didn't... but.

Liliana had no idea the mischievousness of her best friend, not having seen that side of him. The closest would have been times he & Terasu teased each other, but that she would have chalked up to them being siblings & nothing else. She giggled a little, lifting a gold tipped paw to brush Ed's bangs from his face. The blonde hairs stood out brightly against the black inner markings of her foreleg. "Oh certainly. Hemi's bigger than me now. But I'm pretty small, so that's really not surprising."

Well... this world was completely different from the one he use to live in. He didnt have reason to get into trouble and such as much as he did back then. He was pretty happy here, and while there was some things missing, there probably always would be. Edward was an adaptable guy, though, he can handle most of what's thrown at him. The teen turned his golden gaze to look at Lilianna, his expression softening when she brushed his bangs from his face. An endearing smile set on his maw. He heard her words, but couldn't find a reply. So he just continued to silently look at her. Lilianna is pretty... beautiful infact, thus it wasn't hard to stare.

Wondering at his silence Lily looked from his hair to his eyes and blushed at the look that awaited her there. Not that her blush could be seen through her crimson fur, but she felt the heat of her cheeks. Liliana was by no means a vain kitsu, though she had always cared enough for her looks to keep well groomed and considered herself pretty enough. Endless called her beautiful... but it felt different to have Edward look at her that way. Maybe because he had never done so? Or I never saw it...
That annoying question reared again as Liliana turned her green eyes aside in blushing embarrassment. She fished for something to say. "I bet you'll be bigger than me too, when you hit your growth spurt."

He had to admit.. he would -like- to be bigger than Lilianna when he finally did reach his full height. Winry was always a little taller than him, although he didn't mind it so long as it wasn't pointed out. When Lilianna turned her gaze away, he blinked... lifting his brows slightly. Reaching up a paw, he turned her face to look at him again. "Maybe..." was all he said... and in all honesty, his thoughts weren't on that. He was struggling with the desire to kiss her again, but... he knew he shouldn't. So he refrained from doing so, but he didn't want to be denied the right to simply look at her.
