Rina lay down on the ground, waiting. Both Jhonty and Arela were being quiet, but she did not mind. She was patient, and could wait for them to say something--even if they said that they wished to leave. All of the time in the world was hers, and so there was no need to rush: simply lie down, and enjoy life.

Jhonty watched Rina. He was thinking that these foxes had nothing in mind to do right now.
"How long till the sun comes past the mountains do you think?"

"I wouldn't know." Arela said plainly. 'I don't stare at the damned sun.'She finished in thought.
Arela sat back, sinking into the shadows in annoyance.

"Soon, perhaps," Rina guessed. Noon was coming soon, and the mountains, off in the distance as they were, were not all that high in the sky.
Rina wondered once again at the attitude of her fellow vixen. She had contented herself not to pry, and yet she found herself wishing for the answers to questions that kept rising in her mind, almost all of which began with 'why'. Why was the other seemingly so irritable? Why was she still here, if the presence of others (Rina hoped she was reading the attitude of the vixen correctly) annoyed her so? Why why and why again.
She would not ask, though. She would wait, and see if Arela would answer the questions on her own.

Jhonty started to get a bit annoyed about the green fox's attitude. It was a dampener to his relaxed, chilled mood, which he rather enjoyed being. It was as if she was picking for some conflict, but Jhonty knew to do his best to ignore it. That however didnt stop him giving Arela a dirty look before turning his head back to Rina.
"After the sun gives us a better clue as to where we're going I'd like to head out of this tall grass, maybe find something to eat."

"I believe the edge of the grass is near," Rina told Jhonty. She believed that once or twice, she had spotted trees in the distance, which spoke of an end to the grass. It would be nice to be able to see where she was going for a while.
"There is plenty to eat in the grass. You simply must know how to find it." Rina pointed to a mouse that was moving about close to them, unaware of the danger they possessed to it.

Jhonty followed the mouse with his eyes. He picked up his paw and waited for the mouse to move even closer. Nearly there he thought when another three small mice emerged behind it. Jhonty sighed and placed his paw back down gently. "Run along, daddy" he moaned beneath his breath.
He gave his attention to the trees in the distance, try to judge how far away they were. "You coming then Rina?" Jhonty picked himself up heavily and parted the grass with his large frame as he began to walk away.

"Yes, I shall." While the grass had been interesting in its time, she was beginning to appreciate it less, for it grew above her head, and obstructed the view around her. The visibility of a forest would be a pleasant change.
Regretting that manners dictate she do so, Rina turned around, and called behind her: "And you, Arela? Shall you come too, or will you remain here?" While Rina could easily tolerate the other vixen longer, she still wished that the green modifox would choose to remain. It would make the journeying that much more pleasant.

At the mention of Arela he felt the guilt of almost tossing her from his mind. Although he wished there was a much kinder modifox in her place he knew he should be trying harder to earn the friendship of any modifox. Pausing momentarily he pulled back his ears to listen for Arela's response.

"Arela?" Rina queried, wondering at the silence from the other vixen. She turned, but found that Arela was gone from sight. Perhaps she was only hidden by the grass now, or perhaps she had left entirely. In either case, Rina believed it safe to assume that Arela did not wish to continue on with them. And should the other vixen change her mind, it would not be difficult at all for her to follow Rina and Jhonty, as the largest creatures moving about in the grass.
"Come, then," she said to Jhonty, deciding this silence meant that Arela wished to remain behind.

Arela tured to look at Rina through the thick grass, better seen now that she was standing.
"I'll tag along, I don't have much else to do." She sighed and brushed pas the grasses, coming up behind Rina. "Have any type of pry in mind?" Arela said flatly, but let her mood lighten a bit at the though of hunting.

"Whatever there is that will satisfy my appetite, I will eat. Should you have anything you wish to hunt, I will not stop you, though."
To Rina, it seemed that Arela got overly excited at the thought of a hunt. However, perhaps Arela was merely a hunter, and not a sadist, as she was beginning to suspect.
Perhaps, after what had happened earlier, she was merely looking for flaws in the personality of the other vixen. Perhaps her judgment was clouded, so she did not see things are they truly were.
Perhaps Arela was the type of modifox of which Rina did not approve.
