Jessica Halo Well, I just have to say that it's rather offensive to me when people run around using fan Japanese, when I'm working my a** off to actually learn the language. Wow! Something else we have in common. We both would like to be fluent in Japanese surprised

And probably about 10 kanji. rofl 10/8000-10000 kanji is a start! (As in, there are 8000-10000 kanji in a typical kanji dictionary in Japan. Obviously there's even more than that.)You should check out about.com's Japanese pages. 3nodding

You see I'd like to teach in Japan when I graduate in two years - but unfortunately the only bits I know of the language come from live actions and anime lol Er guess it's Australia for me sweatdrop

You can teach in Japan anyway. (No, really.)
They totally assume that all the teachers they get can't speak Japanese anyway. (No, REALLY. My friend went, and they were talking about her in Japanese when she was around, because they didn't think she'd understand them.)
But yeah, most of the teachers who go and teach English in other countries don't actually know the language of the country.

And still, I tell you it's easy! Especially if you go teach in Tokyo. Everyone speaks English in Tokyo anyway.
I went to all sorts of stores when I was in Japan. You pick out what you want, and hand over the monehs. Totally simple.
And if they try to ask you something, just say "Wakarimasen." It means "I don't understand." xd
