It's nothing of importance really. It just says "Japanese is very cool. I speak a little bit of Japanese."
Do you take Japanese lessons? Or are you self-taught perhaps?

Sorry, I was thought the word for 5 years ago and haven't used it since, so I'm not so sure.

"Semester" means "vacation" in Swedish o.O
Anyway, I was never to good at Japanese. I had to redo the last and most important test. But I did learn hiragana, but I've forgot some (like... 5).

I was never too good with katakana, but I've noticed I know it better now, because it's on stuff I buy. There was one package of pocky, and I managed to figure out which flavour it was even though it wasn't translated. Cream 3nodding Kuriimu. I was like "Yay! I can read! o: biggrin "

That's the really hard thing about Japanese is that as soon as you stop practicing, you forget everything really quickly. I was writing random Japanese today and I forgot the kanji for watashi! D; I went into panic because that was like the first kanji I ever learned, next to nihongo.
Katakana sucks. I can never completely memorize the characters. It is quite practical, though. And yay pocky! I love the Green tea flavor! And strawberry! ^^

*Nods* Americans of Japanese descent were relocated to camps, but I do not believe that anyone was brutally tortured or that the living conditions were as savage as in the Nazis' concentration camps. The prisoners here were just humiliated. I actually remember reading a memoir in 8th grade about a girl who grew up in her younger years in such a camp. The prisoners could play baseball and have dances, but they were still fenced in and lived in shacks. They weren't free, and they weren't happy with being thought of as potential spies, but they weren't dying in droves and...y'know...

I started learning English in 2nd grade, but the first two years were slow and we couldn't hold conversations, just point at things and say "A pig", "A chair" and stuff like that, and "I like green :D I am a girl"
In some schools English is taught from 3rd grade. And you read it every year, and after 9th year you are free to quit school. If you continue to gymnasium you'll take Engelska A and Engelska B (Engelska = English). A is the easiest one. They're compulsory (mandatory? obligatory?). If you want to, you can also read Engelska C. I didn't.
I think you can read A or B in one semester but my class read each course over a year.
So...
2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, first year in the gymnasium, second year in the gymnasium...
10 years... But it was over a year ago that the last course ended. So I've spoken it for 11 years.

Watashi was like the last kanji I learned. Well, I learned to recognize it, but not to write it.

But in our book, it was always written in hiragana. Hon (book) was the first word we saw in kanji.

Ikonik Angel Wish I could speak a language fluently. Five years of French and all of us are still awful. I don't think I would ever desire to learn French. The pronunciations would be difficult for me, I think, and it just wouldn't be as practical as Spanish.
Someone once told me that French is a dying language. I don't know if there's any truth to that or not....

I've done four years of French (years 7 to 10, I'm in first year in university now) and I can hardly speak any. I can sing along to most of the French songs that I like though. I can also read quite a lot of French. Say, if you gave me my maths textbook in French I can probably understand most of it almost as well as if it's in English. Being from Hong Kong, I can speak both Cantonese and English fluently. Both languages are compulsory at the local (that is, as opposed to international) schools there. I have a Cantonese accent which I don't like though.

You can speak English fluently. That's one language.Well, I can hold basic conversations. I'd say there's only one person in the class better than me.
I can read French quite well, but I can't speak or write properly.
I'm good by the standards set by the exam board, but compared to you guys, it's nothing.
And French may be dying, but it's still gonna be widely spoken throughout my lifetime.

Yesterday I was at a museum called Östasiatiska museet (The East Asian Museum). The first time I was there, they had an exhibtion about manga, but it's over now. Now they have one about Chinese Gardens... but they do still have Japanese stuff in their shop! whee I bought a book about manga and one about origami. And they had books about Hokusai, Japanese art, Gothic Lolita... and me wants them all sad I'm even interested in the books about China! But it would be expensive to buy all books I want T__T

Yey, fellow fans of the East!
I know very little Japanese, even less French and the only German I know is Rammstein lyrics.
I love anime and katanas and sakura and everything else from Japan. I'd love to go live there but I don't like much of the food. So I'd either survive on noodles and MacDonalds and get fat or I'd starve gonk
