"Tch." Carson saw a couple and immediately stood up. The one thing she hated most was love. Pointless. She threw her unfinished ice cream away and looked at the couple before walking off.

❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥ Bernice giggled to the thought of the ice cream melting before you could even finish, "Well, I guess you're right. . . but at the same time, you get less enjoyment out of the ice cream." She continued licking her side, making sure that none of the cream had melted and dripped down the cone. Her reaction towards Tyler's question was emotionless. . . . Even in her mind no thoughts had occurred. Teehee. Teehee. Looks like you're in a bad situation. You must never speak of such a story. Teehee. The voices had mocked her. The story of a fallen angel was never a good one, moreover pure. "Hm. . . . I guess she just left." Not a word was spoken afterwards, and not a lick or bite was taken from the ice cream.User Image

Tyler "Ty" Henderson...The Magician

“Why is it that every time I'm with you...

Ty nodded."Hmm I guess you are right."He said licking his icecream than taking a bite."Hey Bernice. . .how old are you?"He asked.

I start to believe in magic?”

Neeve entered the shop, and the smell of sickly sweet ice cream filled her nostrils. It made her cringe, remembering she didn't actually like ice cream. It had been spur the moment, the first shop she had seen this morning, the only establishment serving food she remembered when instructing Mir, Rykeir, and Lucas on what she expected of them. But she also suspected that Number 8 had loved the stuff... The thought made her twitch again, just as she always did when remembering a detail about something she sought to bury forever.

She walked up to the counter and ordered two plain sugar cones. The larger woman on the other side of the counter gave her a peculiar look, but obliged. She paid, and went to sit at a table in the far opposite corner, where her view of the rest of the confectionary as well as the front doors, would be unobstructed. The eleven year old sensei sat down in the booth, and stared out the glass window.

Dio walked into the shop a jaunty smile on his face. It had been ages since he had gotten ice cream, mostly because it wasn't actually nutritious and he couldn't really stop for some when all he was doing was passing through a place a quickly as possible. Besides, before now, the less people that saw him, the better.

As it was now though, hopefully he could finally enjoy it's sweetness, and he was looking forward to it. Walking up to the counter, he ordered a strawberry sundae. The sweeter the better right? Once he had it in his hands, he paied the cashier and walked away from the counter, searching for a place to sit.

He was about to sit at an empty table that was surrounded by empty tables when his eyes lingered on a girl who was sitting in a booth, eating just a sugar cone. What's the point of coming to an ice cream shop if you ain't gonna get ice cream? he wondered, looking at her. Although normally he wouldn't bother approaching her, he was to curious to walk away.

Deciding to compromise, he walked over to the booth beside it and sat down. He ate a spoonful of his sundae before turning around, looking over the wall at the girl. "Oh wow, that has got to be the most amazing ice cream cone I have ever seen!" he said sarcastically, a grin on his face, the spoon still in his mouth. "No really! It's never even occurred to me to order something like that!" He said in a snide voice.

Neeve had been enjoying the sight of pigeons pecking about on the sidewalk when Dio walked in. she heard the tinkling sound of a bell, and turned away from the window to see who it was. Out of the corner of her eye, she thought for a moment it was [Lucas] Amsel. They had a similar build, same stride that gave off attitude when they walked, whether intended or not. She took a bite of cone, and chewed it slowly, watching him. What really got her were his eyes, they were an incredibly bright neon lime green. Normally the hazel-eyed girl didn't notice such ordinary things as eye color. She was to busy analyzing the rest of you, using her extensive knowledge to figure out what, exactly, you could do. So no, unless it tells her something about you, she usually can't tell if your eyes go from brown to black.

She turned away, paying him no more mind. He wasn't one of her charges, so she didn't really care. To amse herself, she took tiny bites around the edge of the empty cone, slowly trimming it down while rotating it in her palm. She noticed the new boy sit in a nearby booth, but chose to ignore it, absorbed in eating until she heard the sarcastic comment. Ah, finally. Someone just as snarky as she was. . . .

"Thank you." A fake grin was plastered across her features. "I take pride in my sense of originality." she replied sarcastically to the blonde boy.

Dio smirked as he looked at the girl, who had obviously not been offended by his comment. Too bad. Now he felt forced to converse with her. "You know what a certain Dr. Laurence J. Peter said, don't you?" he mocked, before saying in a sing-song voice, holding one finger up like a professor in a lecture, " 'Originality is the fine art of remembering what you hear but forgetting where you heard it.' "

The girl seemed to have a similar personality to him, well, at least she seemed to wear the same mask in front of other people. It had been a while since he had met anyone like that, but then again, it had been a while since he had met anyone in general. He couldn't help but notice that she looked very young, and he was about to comment on her being alone, when he remembered that he himself had traveled on his own for quite a while, and he hadn't been all that old. Whatever. It didn't matter much. It wasn't as if she knew that now was it? "Shouldn't a kid like you be with her parents?" he asked, his voice filled with mock worry as he ate another spoonful of his sundae.

"And I believe a John Stuart Mill said "Originality is the one thing unoriginal minds cannot feel the use of." Neeve shot back. Chomping another big bite of cone-shaped empty carbs and she looked straight back at him, meeting his strangely chartreuse eyes. She'd already begun sizing the boy up, trying to figure out what his little 'ability' was. Normally you could say she was being presumptuous, but it was pretty much a fact that not many around this area didn't have one. Fuyu was just one of those places where if you weren't in the loop, you'd leave this town feeling a little confused.

Maybe . . ? Nah, too obvious . . . She hadn't really been paying attention after the whole quote exchanging thing, but she caught wind of his last little comment. She took a moment to decide what to say. Even though comments like these always annoyed her, it wasn't often she let herself get worked up over something so small. She rolled her eyes. "Please. They're probably somewhere in Scandinavia. Contrary to ignorant public opinion, I am a good deal more capable than you'd think." She was 4' 9" and 65 pounds, but she made up for it in attitude department. She munched more sugar cone.

Dio laughed when he heard her shoot another quote back at him. Too bad he had a whole store of them, they were always good ammunition in conversations against others. "Yes, but he also said: 'The liberty of the individual must be thus far limited; he must not make himself a nuisance to other people.' " he countered, watching as she continued to eat her empty cone.

He met her gaze with a smile, knowing that she was probably forming an opinion of him, after all, he had already formed his of her, although he wasn't about to say it out loud. He could care less what she decided to think of him though. The worse off, the better, it would mean that she wouldn't try to befriend him for any reason. And besides, he could always act as though he opinion didn't matter.

Hearing her response to his 'parent' comment, he made a curious 'hmm~' sound. "Scandinavia you say? What ch'a do? Run away and lead them on some foreign goose chase to another country? Should I turn you into the police?" he asked.

Neeve laughed at him. It was a vague laugh, but she didn't really care if he thought she was laughing for a different reason. Truthfully it wasn't his business. And it wasn't like their was this big feud going on between them. They just weren't as close as before. They had their job, and now Neeve had hers. "And what about you? Run from your mummy too?" She was half curious, and half just wanted to throw a wrench his way and see if he'd get smacked in the head, or build something with it.

She dusted off her hands lightly, and rolled her second cone up in a napkin. With a tiny body came a tiny appetite. Searching for some form of amusement, she pulled out the small indigo 'cell phone'. It had been flashing, but she'd ignored it, too lazy to get it out every five seconds. Turned out the dots hadn't moved. The hell are they doing . . . Bah, whatever . She snapped it shut as quickly as she'd opened it and set it next to her thigh on the red vinyl seat. She looked back at Dio. He was still smiling. Odd.

You can't hide your lyin' eyes

"And what would make you think that?" Dio asked, completely ignoring the fact that she had laughed at him. "I assure you, I ain't on the run. My parents decided to kick me out." he said, using one of his more common lies. It was one he had used often when he was younger and didn't look old enough to live on his own. Do-gooders had always been a pain, and he had usually ended up fleeing from them, but at least that lie kept them from calling the police right away. "Meh. Who needs 'em anyways?" he said with a shrug, eating another spoonful of his sundae.

He watched as she rolled up her cone and checked what appeared to be a cell phone. "Going somewhere? And here I thought you wanted to talk to me~" he said lightly, a fake and childish pout appearing on his face briefly before reverting to a grin. "I'd be so very hurt if you just suddenly left miss~" he said, once again employing the use of sarcasm. For being so small, the girl certainly had a lot of attitude, and he wondered what in her past would have caused her to be that way.

He shifted his position slightly and a picture fell out of his pocket, fluttering to the floor where it landed face up, in view of both people. It was a photograph of three people. A man, woman and child. Looking at it, it would be obvious that it was a picture of a young Dio with his parents. Making a 'tch' sound. He picked it up looking at it as though he could care less, although, for a moment, pain flickered in his eyes. "How the heck did this get here?" he grumbled, before seemingly stuffing it into his pocket, as though the picture meant nothing to him. In reality, he was slipping it into his pocket dimension, where he was sure it would be safe.

She shrugged. She'd met a lot of people who'd done that, run away from home. If they even had a home. Yet his answer was just not quite believable. Sure, a lot of horrible parents did kick their kids out, either because they were just cruel like that, or scared. That was one of the hard parts about being 'special'. Life could be so much pain, for something you usually couldn't control. But at that moment, something shifted inside.

She rolled her eyes. "Nah. Just checking something." She said casually, not bothering to elaborate. A) What did he care?, and b), she didn't really want to go into it. She'd have to waaay back, explaining that she was actually a teacher, that her first class had been practically insane, and she had to punish these kids, and then about the little phone-thing, and blah, blah, blah. Neeve liked to read stories, didn't particularly enjoy recounting them. Especially with this guy. They were similar in a way, and she didn't care for wheezebags that told their life's story to every other Joe on the street.

She was fixing her short, dark ponytail when the picture fell to the floor. It looked like a family photo, and the little guy in the middle of two smiling faces seemed awfully familiar. She cocked her head at him. "Hey-wait- What was that?" She knew perfectly well what it was, but wanted to ask anyway. Her voice had lost some of its attitude now. Neeve was definitely not the kindest, most caring person in the world, but dang it, if she had one big weakness, it was 'families'. Or rather, the whole classification surrounding loved ones and friends, companions. Growing up around so many broken people, mostly kids like themselves had made her sensitive to the matter. They came from all walks of life, all species, all with different stories. But they all had one thing in common; they had lost someone or something, and emanated hurt. Almost tangible, it was not easy pain to heal; and Neeve had seen so many... But that was why the Home was there in the first place. That was what she always told herself, what she believed. To help. Nothing compared with seeing someone change from bedraggled and struggling to survive one more day to someone who could laugh, smile again. A bandaid on the heart.

Neeve made a bold move, standing up and walking around the half-wall to Dio's booth. She sat down next to him. Not so close to be overly awkward, but she was there, nontheless.

Dio shrugged when she told him she was 'checking something.' It didn't matter to him that she didn't explain, he could care less; if she started explaining, that would mean that she was being 'friendly' towards him, and he really didn't care for that. He had just said what he had to annoy her, if she had decided to leave, he wouldn't have stopped her, or have been bothered by it at all.

When she asked him about the picture, he shrugged. "That was none of your damn business that's what it was." he said, turning his head away from her as he fought to keep tears out of his eyes and his voice. He couldn't think about his parents, about what had happened to them, not here! Not in public! No, he had to keep up appearances, pretend to be strong, stick to his lie that he could care less bout them because they had kicked him out, act like he was better than everyone else. When he was alone, then he could think about his past and give in. They don't even have a marked grave for me to go to. he thought bitterly, biting his tongue.

In order to distract himself, he took another spoonful of the sundae, allowing the sweetness to calm him down. When the girl suddenly walked over to sit beside him, he glanced over at her in surprise, the spoon still in his mouth. Turning back to his sundae, he ate casually, in silence as he wondered what the heck she wanted. She wasn't getting all friendly now was she? He certainly hoped not, he didn't need another compassionate person trying to get to know him, especially not now that he had decided not to run anymore. "What, you see one scrap of paper and suddenly we're all buddy-buddy?" he asked, "'Cause I ain't buying you anything if that's what you think."

The World is A MONSTER...

Anaice walking down the street of the town. She saw an ice cream shop and thought "Ice Cream!" She smiled big. "I love ice cream!" She put some pep in her step and walked up to the window of the shop. She opened the door and took in the atmosphere of the place. "Lovely." Anaice said lowly to herself. She saw couples and people chatting. She loved it all. Anaice went up to the counter to order her favorite of ice cream, Mint Chocolate Chip. She smiled at the thought of the ice cream melting in her mouth.

"I know I talk funny alright?
But I can safely blame it on
the most beautiful city
in the world! Merci, Paris!"

Kira burst through the doors of the ice cream shoppe. (She never just walked into a place, making an entrance was always important.) "No fear, je suis ici!" she sang dropping into a large, and deeply exaggerated bow. She rolled into a cartwheel and leaped out of it to land on a stool at the front. Kira knew she was eccentric and didn't care most of the time, but today she felt like being extra outgoing.

"A pineapple shake s'il vous plait, I've never had one before and I think today's the day!" The startled old man behind the counter nodded, turning to put in the order. Kira smiled brilliantly and waved to the skinny redhead who was working in the kitchen. He seemed surprised, but slowly waved back. In Kira's world, everyone deserved a little pick-me-up. As she waited for her shake to be done, she spun the stool around and rocked it back and forth, elbows up on the tile behind her.

Abruptly noticing a cute, fair-haired boy off to her right, Kira swiveled so she was facing him, "Pardon," she whispered, her gentle accent making it sound that much more french, "Have you ever had a pineapple shake? I'd never even heard of it until I came here."
