She could admit to herself that she had expected him to turn away. That in walking away in his hut he had managed to hurt her as deeply as Anya had back on the isles. It was the type of wound that changed a person if it couldn't heal. Anya's betrayal had never healed, and she had not held out much hope for this one. But his lips pressed against her's, and like every time before she melted into that kiss, because she was incapable of anything else. If someone had asked her to pinpoint the exact moment their relationship had gone beyond the casual thing it had started as, she wouldn't have been able to pick one instant. It had built over time. A hundred soft touches, a thousand shared moments, countless looks exchanged. She loved him. Something she would never have thought possible, because she had no longer believed in love, but he had won her over. And he had walked away. But she didn't pull away from that kiss, because kissing him was like breathing. Something she did to survive. Not until the mice began to push at them did they part, and she made a protesting sound as they were nudged along. Her grip on his hand tightened, the warmth of the ring pulsing against her finger. Again, the thought came to her, as it had that day he'd failed to answer her. How can something so right, be wrong?OOC My character's username: Heterochromaggia My character's level: 14 Character's HP: 30 Current party: Current Guild: Location: Tugley Wood Small IC description of character: Small and dark, from ashen skin to jet black coat. The hatter was utterly monochromatic. A tiny hat rested on silver hair at a slant, a veil of lace draped over half her face. Grey corset cinched a narrow waist, dark leggings wrapped equally dark legs and disappeared into shiny black boots. The only spot of color was the eerie golden glow of her right eye. I'm mad, you're mad. We're all mad here. Character journal: here

"I know," Mimsy replied, looking every bit as proud as she was. He chose the Hatter again, and she considered the other tablets with the thought that they deserved. There was meaning in each of them, strengths, weaknesses, insinuations of what this was and what it meant to her. But none of that really mattered, despite the theories she had already begun to craft for each one in her mind, spun together like woven molecules of candy floss--which Svensyl ate right up, because she was always going to pick the Jabberwock. The contents of her basket were currently identical to last time, and that did not make for a very interesting experiment. When she joined him at the box of trinkets, she attempted to select objects that varied from the set she'd chosen for their first wedding. It seemed important for them to each be unique. "Everything is edible," she corrected him, and tapped his cheek to help the information sink in. If he wanted to eat them instead of putting them to use, she wasn't going to stop him. This was Wonderland, and it was important for him to get what he wanted too. In the end, she chose only a red paper heart. Nothing else felt quite as important when any of them fell into her hand. She took a deep breath and looked up at him, with manic eyes and that same wide smile. "Well! Time to ring for tea! Or tea for ring...yes! That is much more apt. We will do that."

"Oh my thank you my lady." He laughed in great delight. His lady was fast in action, he didn't encounter this type of lady before. The naughty smile on the dormouse face noticed him, but they were in Wonderland, so he just enjoyed what would happen. "__.___, is that a spell?" Although the Head couldn't understand difficult words, but he could catch words like "contract". The Mad Hatter just grinned and petted it. "No worries Bro. It will be fine." Similarly, he gently picked up the ring she made and slipped it into her finger. "I promise to be your best, to respect and support you, to work together with you to achieve our goals, to accept you unconditionally and to share my life with you." He then kissed on her hand, knelt. Eeeeeeeeeeeeee. Her heart let out a high pitch squealing noise. She would not be surprised if he heard it. He was such the gentleman and playing into her game. He was a good candidate, absolutely. His words were not the rest of the vowels but they were enough to set her heart racing. Better than vowels, they were spoken from the heart. And this kiss on the hand... oh he was so cute. and hansom and... yes. "You may rise sir knight and welcome to my family. Shall we go and have and adventure together for our honey moon?" because they couldn't really do what was expected. Oh goodness, the things she did for getting strong enough to get out of here. Nightbloom found herself ready to get once more, eying the NPCs before abruptly grabbing one--the Mischievous NPC--by the arm and hauling him along towards the cakes.
This time, she decided to select the Rainbow Cake, finding the colors to be rather eyecatching. The flavour was nice too!OOC My character's username: Nightbloom My character's level: 64 Character's HP: 40/40 Current party: N/A Current Guild: Penumbra Location:Small IC description of character: Nightbloom is a petite girl with pink-tinged white hair. The next step was met with a little hum. To be honest, she had kind of been selecting these randomly, so maybe this time she'd actually take a moment to examine them more closely.

One more step! Moving to the box, she reaching in, rooting around until her fingers closed around a small object. Pulling out an earring with a white stone, she let out a little hum and turned to look t the NPC.
Urging him to come along, she head over to complete the last step, putting all the objects into the teapot.OOC My character's username: Nightbloom My character's level: 64 Character's HP: 40/40 Current party: N/A Current Guild: Penumbra Location:Small IC description of character: Nightbloom is a petite girl with pink-tinged white hair. Before she could tip the teapot to retrieve the rings, the NPC did so first. She didn't even get to see what happened--she heard the clinking of something falling into the teacup, the NPC abruptly grabbed her hand and slid the ring on, and then--
--And then he was telling her that he hid the other ring and that she had to go on a quest to find it.

There were many things he despised about this game/dream. He hated how certain things rooted into his mind, messing with his emotions. And he also loathed this wedding quest. But levels were levels. Shadowstep wanted to get out of this wretched dream and right now gaining levels seemed beneficial regardless. Time to get this whole thing over with. He picked up an every flavor cake, the dormouse, and a tiny plastic human infant. With everything in hand, he tossed them all into the teacup, waiting for his ring to come out. Shadowstep looked over the selection of puppets with a light frown upon his features. He still didn't like the idea of 'marrying' one of them. Since he mostly wanted the levels, he figured he'd try to make the best out of this, however. Thinking it over for awhile, he soon paused and eyed one of the puppets in particular. He had an idea. Approaching the mission report puppet, he placed the ring on it, then promptly punched the puppet in the face. That felt good. Dusting his hands off, Shadowstep then wandered off to go on with the rest of his business. Perhaps he can deck another puppet later. Or maybe the same one. It wasn't every day he could punch the Death Hunter in the face. "Even I thought that was stupid" Zar agreed. "Giving away our modus operandi to all and sundry. It was foolish to say the least. As much as I objected to roses for obvious political reasons, they would have been superior to that."
He eyed the teapot with mingled confusion and interest as Barth followed what they were supposed to do and looked genuinely surprised when a ring was the result. He felt oddly embarrassed to look too closely at the ring as if doing so was intimate prying and instead busied himself putting his objects in the teapot and following the same procedure.
He picked up his own ring gently in his claws and eyed it. It was twisted, delicate black silver coiled up into sweeping horn-like forms, sturdy looking yet light. It strangely did not look like his size
"I assume this is what we were making?"

The ring in Nod's cup was a strange, smooth, dark, earthy bentwood. Mostly plain, but if held close to the face it had a gentle, soothing smell, and quickly warmed to the skin. He picked it up. It was large in his long, thin hand.
Nod's face felt warm.
He had been mostly curious, but overall amenable, but the objects seemed...weighty. Contractual. Although, of course, it was not a Contract. He did not think they could even make them here. He had made a ring for Siddie out of his own Fear, the same way he made pins, and while they did not have access to Fear, this was...well, a workaround, wasn't it.
"Yes," he answered finally.
"You know, I've never actually been married."

NotAllan grabbed more of her breakfast cake (she really liked breakfast foods, okay?) and began scarfing it down. If she was going to do this stupid side quest again, she was going to enjoy it. That meant eating as much cake as she could before the dormouse showed up. As much of this glorious breakfast bacon and pancakes she could stuff in her mouth.
Then came the objects- this time Notallan just picked a handful of glass gryphons, thinking that good enough for a ring. She also selected the Gryphon constellation. Gryphons for days. She didn't have any intention on marry anyone else in this little clearing, so she figured it made sense to design a ring specifically for her.
Her expression softened as her fingers moved over the glassy surface of the winged lions, memory sinking somewhere far, far away. Tiny glass objects on a table somewhere- maybe a grandparent's house? It had that sort of old person's smell hanging in the air lucidly.
The only thing that snapped her back was the "clink!" of the ring bouncing out of the teapot and into her hand.
When all was said and done, she had a ring and she slipped it onto Allan's finger. Good enough for her. SANDSHARK sighed as he approached the blasted teapot once again. Marriage... how stupid this game was. Marraige and mind pillaging. He shook his head and took a mercury cake into his basket, rolling his eyes at the little squeaks and giggles of the dormouse. Ridiculous.
Next he chose the Gryphon, because that's what he always went with. And finally, he grabbed a handful of long brass nails. Depositing them in the kettle and receiving a ring, he stuck it on the finger of the Mischievous puppet and walked off, not caring about 'finding the ring." He'd done his end of the deal.

Zar didn't know what to make of any of this situation, he'd long since moved from distress to some numb place far beyond where all that remained was curiosity. It could not have been a worse scenario in the wake of his earlier upsetting confessions and part of him worried that this was his fault.
He kept his eyes on the ring because it was easier than looking at Nod and risking seeing any expression he couldn't handle.
"I don't - or didn't expect to ever be." he admitted. His father wanted to marry him off when he was valuable, when he had something to offer and was part of the company. Now he had nothing to offer so it stood to reason that he would not be of contractual interest.
"The rings are pretty though." he said, twirling the band gently in his claws, still avoiding having to look. "I assume we are supposed to exchange them." It was obvious, given the size disparity, but he felt that saying it out loud might make it easier to do.
