"Dead?" Curtis echoed, genuinely confused. "I'm not dead, so I'm quite certain that you aren't, either, although you both had a close call." He raised a brow as he set her down on the futon. Did Katra know she was pregnant? She had to have. She'd obviously been trying to hide something from him before. It made sense.

"Well, that should be interesting," Connor mumbled as he finished his share of the meal. "By the way... do you ever go to class?"

Kat was distraut. "But they said you were dead...thats why I agreed...thats why I...." She looked around the room, there was no one else around, then why did he say 'both'...Kat looked down at her stomach and then back up at Curtis. 'How did he know?!' She couldn't keep herself together.
"I'm sorry! I wasn't sure, I'm still not sure! I didn't want to worry you! And then you were dead! I didn't tell you and I felt horrible. And then you were alive! Now I'm confused and my wrists hurt! I kept having nasty visions about you dieing! Curtis it was horrible! I'm so sorry!"

Curtis sat down across from Katra, drawing a deep breath. At least that explained her confusion as to him being alive.
"When I was at school yesterday morning two men came into my office and captured me. When I woke up I was in the middle of nowhere and had to follow the scent of their truck to find my way back to the city, but the trail let me to the building where I could smell you. So I came in to save you and another werewolf helped me get you out. He was the one who told me that you're pregnant."
Since he couldn't think of anything else to say, Curtis reached out and rested a hand gently on Katra's tummy.

Kat was slightly confused. How did anyone know she was pregnant when she wasn't entirely sure herself? She certainly didn't tell anyone, maybe werewolves a have a special scense or something...but she didn't know.
"I...I really don't know if the test I took was accurate. I was planning on heading to the...doctors" (she shuddered a the word) "...yesterday during my break. But how could some stranger know but not me?" Kat put both her hands on the one Curtis had placed on her stomach, then looked helplessly up into his calm eyes. "I don't know what to do if it's true..."

Yakov laughed. "You are such a baby. It's only gonna be for a few days. If you hate it so much, you go pick out something."

"Pfff, no. Go sit through crap that gets posted online anyway, hell no. I'm like three weeks ahead already anyway. I would never have gotten away with this stuff the first time I went to college. Missing class was equivalent to death." She looked out the window and sighed. "Come on boy." She stood up and took his hand pulling him off the bed. "The sooner we take care of this the better."

Curtis smiled back at her, putting all the effort he could into being reassuring. Katra was concerned, yes, but she was just a college student. Curtis, however could hardly contain himself.
"What do you mean?" he asked, gently caressing her. And then something painful occurred to him. "You don't... want it?"

"No! Of course I want the baby! But...I just don't know how to deal with this. What am I going to do about classes?! In nine months I'm going to have leave school! And I have next to no money! How are we going to survive?!" She sighed not knowing what to do.

"I'm a teacher," Curtis reminded her. "And when you have been around this long, you have plenty of funding for emergencies." He smiled again. "And there is something that I didn't think I would need to tell about werewolves. It will only take three or four months for the baby to finish growing inside you. The semester will likely be over when your time comes."

Kat was surprised, she didn't think that being a werewolf effected that much of the biology of a human. Well vampire...but it didn't matter. Another thought popped into her brain.
"But...wont people be...suspisious. I mean it's not every day you see someone's belly grow ginormous over just three months...maybe I should just, take the rest of this semester off, or should I wait and take next semester off? I donno..." She couldn't stop staring at her stomach.

Curtis considered all of his mate's concerns. The teacher half of his brain wanted to encourage her to stay in school, but the more sensible portion that was madly in love with her was the side he decided to let speak.
"That may be for the best," he agreed. "Dropping this semester, I mean. I don't want you to be behind, but you are a werewolf. It's not as if time is of the essence. Besides, you aren't used to your vampire sleeping schedule yet, and your classes don't fit it at all. If you wait another semester, I'm sure you would have more of a handle on things."

"Well...maybe just a shirt or two..." Jeff slowly made his way through the mens department picking out anything he thought might be worth trying, which wasn't much.

Kat sighed. She knew he was right but...she just couldn't see herself as a...stay at home little wife...which she wasn't but..."Probably for the best..." She reached an arm out around Curtis and sighed again.

Curtis embraced Katra fully and brought her into his lap.
"Like I said, you shouldn't be having the baby until the semester is over. And I will take the next semester off from work so that you can go to school. I have enough to support us for quite some time without me working, but you are younger than me and should have as much of your freedom as possible." He sighed, nuzzling the side of her head. "I'm sorry, Katra... this is my fault."

Connor followed Luka out of her room, though he had to put a great deal of effort into not grumbling or sighing.
"You're a rogue, right?" he asked. "We're not going to meet some alpha who decides if I'm good enough to be in the pack. You sure as hell wouldn't let anyone push you around like that."

Kat nuzzled back. "It's not your fault...but we shouldn't be placing blame. It certainly takes two to tango..." She smiled at her mothers favorite saying. "Actually, now that I'm calm and thinking straight...I think I will quite enjoy him or her...."

"I am, too," Curtis agreed. "Perhaps we ought to think of names?"
