Neeve snorted disdainfully. "As if." She yawned. Now she was bored....God, how much longer until those three got here? "And whatever." Thinking of back home had made her get up by reflex, it was something she always felt obliged to do whenever she saw one of the little kids huddled up, on the verge of tears, even if it wasn't her style in the least. But he wasn't a sad little orphan, she knew that. Dio was much tougher, battle-hardened. Yeah, so it was a mistake, but she wasn't going to regret it. Waste of time. She lied. "I only moved because if we're going to have a whole conversation, I don't want to get a neck cramp doing it." Her tone was indifferent; matched the mood.

The view was still pretty good from here, so she slid into the back corner of the booth and sat so she could easily observe the goings-on over the half-wall. Only a few people were in there anyway, a couple and a girl who'd just walked in. She watched as a petite neko bounded in the door, feeling the need to do gymnastics on the way to the counter. Looked like somebody'd gotten up on the hyper side of the bed. All of a sudden, the girl came her direction. Thankfully, it wasn't Neeve she was after. She smirked when neko-girl started trying to chat with Dio. Poor girl, she smirked, didn't know what she was getting herself into. Had it been this attitude-fueled child in a mood like Dio's, she would have killed the conversation before the chatterbox could blink with a shamelessly flat, one-word response. Nope.

Dont't make me laugh .

It had been a tiring week, and Aoi wanted nothing more than to rest. His entire body ached, his head throbbed, his stomach rumbled. If at the beginning, balancing his time as a Shooter, Reaper, and student was easy, now it certainly wasn't so. He had been informed by his superior that a mass murder was happening somewhere, and he and a few other Reapers were assigned to retrieve the souls of those who were killed. Additionally, it was the Shooter Division in charge of investigating about who was behind the murders.

To rest, he then proceeded to stroll around town, and upon doing so he found himself passing an ice cream shop. His stomach rumbled once more, and he whimpered to himself. He wasn't too fond of sweets in particular, but his exhaustion, hunger, and the heat made him crave for something delicious and cold.

"I might as well just eat here," he said, sighing softly. He then stepped in the shop and sat on one of the chairs by the bar, and relished the cold air inside. Finally, time to get some rest. And hopefully, some peace and quiet.

User ImageNiko drifted into the ice-cream shoppe, adopting a rather vacant expression. In all honesty, there was little reason for him to come here; he supposed the low temperatures would be good for his skin, which had long since begun to protest at the heat outside, but it wasn't as if he was going to be able to eat anything. He trailed his fingers past the cases full of glorious confectioneries, meeting the girl behind the counter's "What can I get for ya, hon?" with a quiet, "Just looking, thank you."

After managing to force his eyes away from the chocolate-chip-cookie-dough ice-cream -- it had, once upon a time, been his favorite -- Niko allowed his attention to focus on some of the other patrons for the shop.

Now this was rather interesting. The boy at the bar was radiating discomfort, lethargy, while a pair seated at a table near-by seemed to almost be having some sort of battle of wills. There was a faint shimmering of malice in the air around those two, and so Niko approached the lone boy.

"Excuse me," the gray-skinned boy allowed in a quiet voice, "but you seem... rather more under-the-weather than most students would be in the middle of summer." He tilted his head. "What's wrong?"

Ayumi looks around, then slips into the Ice Cream Shop inconspicuously. Another large mob of papparazzi had bombarded her outside, wanting the famous pop idol Kanon's signature. It seemed like nobody here recognized her, so she continued walking in with a huge smile across her face. "Ice cream, ice cream~!" She sang to herself. Even if she seemed kind of mature, Ayumi was truly a kid at heart. "I want ice cream~! I'm going to get ice cream~!" This continued until she appeared at the counter, waiting for her turn to be served. Ayumi could tell that people were staring at her now, most likely because of her flamboyant clothes and her random singing. She kept a smile on her face, but stopped singing as to not disturb the others. When her turn came, Ayumi ordered a chocolate cone and sat down. She sat there and licked away, ignoring the strange looks she kept recieving. It seemed as though the shop was rather dismal, and didn't have a bright, cheery, atmosphere like she was used to. Nonetheless, Ayumi decided that if this place needed some color, she would give it. "But for now," she whispers to herself, "I'm going to enjoy this ice cream."

"Hm...?" Aoi looked up when he heard someone talk to him. It wasn't anybody he knew in particular, so he considered ignoring him. But Aoi had grown to learn that ignoring people willing to talk to you was something to avoid, so he shrugged.

"It's nothing. I'm just... tired. And stressed," he muttered. Maybe he could leave it at that. He was too tired to interact with anybody, anyway.

User ImageNiko automatically sensed the other boy's misanthropic intentions and recoiled a little in disappointment. "Ah. I'll leave you to that, then." The boy might have sensed his nature; it was all too common for humans to suddenly become frosty when they learned of it. It really isn't fair, what with all the affection vampires and werewolves get, he thought to himself, rather crossly.

Niko chose a seat at the bar that was three seats down from his failed attempt at a companion. Another waitress, seeming to pick up on his downcast mood, zipped over with a small chocolate smoothie. "On the house," she cooed, patting his cheek briefly. Niko regarded her with a start.

"Sorry, but I can't -- " However, the waitress had been drawn away before he could finish. "...drink that." He grumbled to himself. "This is a waste."

From the corner of his eye, Aoi observed the boy who had tried talking to him. He seemed downcast, even as the waitress gave him a free chocolate smoothie. He sighed softly, as his order of blueberry parfait was handed to him. He uttered a vague, "Thanks", and the waitress nodded and moved on.

He shook his head as he started to eat, turning his attention away from the other boy. He tried to focus instead on his food. Surprisingly, it tasted good. Good enough to be his new favorite.

People are so hard to understand, he thought to himself, taking in the cold delecacy. Perhaps if I was alive, I would understand them. But my life has long since been taken from me. Perhaps it's no longer possible.

He had long since given up on any chances of finding any friends, as his superior tried to make him do. He was socially awkward, and often misinterpreted as a misanthrope; not to mention, he had quite a number of dislikes. And besides, who would want to be friends with a Reaper, anyway?

"I know I talk funny alright?
But I can safely blame it on
the most beautiful city
in the world! Merci, Paris!"

Kira's pineapple shake had arrived, and she was now sucking gently on the straw. Suddenly a familiar smell hit her nose and it wrinkled in surprise. She looked around to see where it was coming from and her eyes widened a little as they pinpointed the scent. Undead, she realized. I'd know it anywhere...but it's SO strong! She of course didn't realize that there were two of them very close to one another.

She carefully slid off her stool and--shake in hand--approached the dark-haired boy (Aoi). As she came closer, she cocked her head to the side. He looked familiar somehow, like she had seen him before. Taking a quick sip, she did exactly what she knew she'd be able to do best: she was blunt and forward. "Have we met before?" She squinted, trying to remember.

Aoi paused midway through eating his parfait. Oh, great. Somebody's talking to me again. It wasn't that he was anti-social; it was just that he had great difficulty in interacting with others. It was a miracle how he still managed to fulfill his job as a Reaper despite all that.

Sighing, he turned his head, and took notice of the girl. She was a cute one, not that he cared about others' personal appearance. What disturbed him was how and why this girl felt vaguely familiar. However, he shrugged it off.

"I don't know," he replied honestly. He met hundreds of thousands of people everyday, some alive, some not, and he chose not to pay attention to those whom he deemed not of any importance. If he had met this girl before, then he might've forgotten her. If not, well, that was it.

Anaice recieved her Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream and sat between what had seen an almost to akward sitiaution between two boys. It is never any of her business when it comes down to people and their situations. She took her seat and looked down at her ice cream. She could sense a looming depressing mood. She looked down the bar at a unnormally chipper girl talking to a not so chipper looking guy. "Such strange connections." She said taking small bites of ice cream. Anaice glanced down at the other guy sitting by himself with a chocolate smoothie, looking more down then he should be. Anaice leaned over to him and said, "You know, I don't like Chocolate smooties either." She smiled at the guy and continuted to take bites of her ice cream.

You can't hide your lyin' eyes
And your smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now you'd realize
There ain't no way to hide you lyin' eyes

Dio had been enjoying the emptiness of the ice cream shop. He was still used to the feeling that the fewer people that saw him, the better, and less people also meant a smaller chance that someone would come and try to talk to him. Unfortunately, the empty silence of the shop was shattered as suddenly, a whole bunch of people entered. The first girl who entered has dark blue hair, but she didn't seem overly rowdy. Dio ignored her. When the second girl entered, he knew immediately that she was going to be trouble. He watched out of the corner of his eye as she did a cartwheel onto a stool and flaunted her French as though trying to prove that she could speak it. Rolling his eyes, he silently prayed that she wouldn't talk to him. Of course, she did. Whatever. He could tell that she was one of those overly friendly types who just couldn't take a hint, his least favorite type of person. He didn't even bother answering her question about pineapple shakes, instead making a 'tch' sound as if she was the most annoying thing in the world, and not even worth his time. Sure enough, she eventually went away, to go talk to somebody else who had entered the shop: a boy who looked as though he wanted to talk to her even less than Dio did.

Dio glanced around the shop quickly, noting that the people who were there didn't seem the sociable type, except for one girl who was singing as she waited in line. She also seemed like the friendly type, but luckily she didn't approach Dio.

Instead, he turned his attention back to the girl sitting beside him. His 'conversation' with her was most definitely the longest one he had had for quite a while, and he half wondered why she was still continuing it. It occurred to him that they hadn't introduced themselves, but it didn't matter much, not to him anyways. "So, how're you enjoying the ice cream?" he asked, going back to eating his sundae. He was slightly intrigued as to why she would even come to an ice cream shoppe and not order ice cream, but he wasn't about to show it. Instead, his voice was full of contempt as he spoke to her.

My, oh my, you sure know how to arrange things

Ain't it funny how your new life didn't change things

Anaice finished eating her ice cream. "My tummy hurts!" She almost screamed it but covered her mouth. She giggled, that wasn't like her. She got up to walk to the counter. "Can I have a glass of water...?" She held her stomache and covered her mouth. She was gagging. "I knew ice cream was a bad idea. I shouldn't even be having milk." The guy behind the counter handed her a tall glass of water. She slipped it slowly. Anaice sighed as she reached the end of the glass. "Hm, better." She smiled at herself. She leaned against the counter to relax and ordered a slice of cake... of course it was chocolate. "Yay! Sweet day with Sweets!" She smiled and ran her finger a little a cross the top of the cake to end up with icing on her finger. She licked her finger and moaned. "So good." Anaice took her spot back near the guy with the unwanted smootie.

The dismal air still hung around the Ice Cream Shop, and Ayumi was beginning to worry. What had made these people so depressed that they couldn't enjoy ice cream? Trying not to let the mood get her down, Ayumi begins humming one of her songs cheerfully. I just hope nobody thinks I'm annoying... Sighing, she finishes her chocolate ice cream and wipes her hands and face. Sitting back down, Ayumi exclaims "Well, that was delicious!" She smiles and hopes somebody would awknowledge her. "Best ice cream I've had in a while." Since she had a double life as a pop idol, Ayumi had to keep her figure. Even if sweets were her favorite food, she had to refrain from eating them often. "It's too bad I can't eat sweets a lot..." she mutters to herself, still waiting for a conversation to spark up. This is boring. Why do I have to sit here if nobody is going to talk to me? But the manager says I have to stay out in public until somebody notices me... That way I can spread popularity. Ayumi sighs again, and then throws her hand up in the air, almost as if catching some invisible object.

Anaice could hear a girl really enjoying her ice cream. Watching the girl, she laughed as the girl threw her hand up in the air. "Hahahhaa!" Anaice almost fell off her stool laughing. She asked someone behind the bar to send her a glass of soda and give her a note that said "Hey cutie, I love your excitement." She giggled at the note. And waited and watched for a the girls reaction.

Ayumi recieves the note and immidently turns bright red. Looking around for the sender, she spots a girl dying of laughter. Ayumi crosses her arms and pouts like a little kid. "If you sigh then your happiness escapes. I was catching my happiness." Smiling slightly, she bends down to examine the girl. "Who're you, anyway?" She was glad that she had caught somebody's attention.
