Larry was dumbfounded at what he was hearing the old man say. A pack of wolves? A phoenix? Like this happens every day? "What the hell are you up to, Boss?" he whispered to himself, jogging a short distance to catch up with the man and slowing to a walk next to him. "Uh, so. Mister Forgle." Larry said with a confident voice "I don't know what Boss told you about me, but lemme be the first to tell you that I'll do anything. You just tell me and I'll do it directly. Y'hear?" He topped off his opening statement with a single quick nod and waited for a response.

Mr. Forgle's office, MMHQ

"I hear, and I'm glad to to hear it." Larry and Mr. Forgle arrived at a small office. A desk took up most of the space, and what little space was left over was needed to walk. A door at the back of the room led outside, if one could judge by the muddy footprints leading in. Several pairs of boots stood under a line of hooks. The hooks held gray jumpsuits identical to the one Mr. Forgle was already wearing. The desk had a grimy computer on it, but most of the desk area was filled with pictures of Mr. Forgle's children and grandchildren. He had a lot of both.

"Now, I'll want to see how you are with animals before I throw you to the wolves, so to speak, so how about I give you a mission to start out?" Paper rustled as Mr. Forgle rummaged through a drawer. Finally he found what he was looking for, and handed it to Larry. It was a sheet of light blue paper, folded in thirds and slightly creased at the corners from frequent use. In between the official lines of text, several people had written their own notes on the mission description. The client's name had been scratched out and replaced with an obscenity, which was also scratched out.

Mission
THE CAT MISSION (oh no not again)

Summary: Rescue a (STUPID) cat from a (sweet) tree

Details: The tallest tree in any known world stands at roughly 450 meters tall, slightly higher than the Empire State Building. (SO DONT FALL) (jason is an idiot) Mrs. XXXXXX (XXXXXX) lives near this tree. (^Twice) Every day (^for the past ten years), her pet cat gets out and climbs the tree. Every time this happens, Mishap Mercenaries is hired to get it down again. (we haven't done this in so long... I was hoping the cat died...) (no, Brian greased the tree.) (DAMMIT!...Wait...I'll have to try that...)

Objective 1: Recover the (STUPID) cat.

Objective 2: Return the (STUPID) cat safely to its (STUPID) owner. (STUPID STUPID STOOPIIID)

Portal code: 53qu-0i4-X123-cL1m-h1! (i know the code by heart, I've done this so much) (me too!)

Notes: Because this mission must be done so frequently, the portal technicians will be prepared for your arrival. You will find all necessary climbing supplies in the portal room, and the portal will be preset to your appropriate destination. (I never needed them) (but you almost shot the cat) (How is this a bad thing?)

At the bottom of the page were several doodles of stick figure cats dying horrible, bloody deaths.

"Now, I'll be keeping an eye on you, but go ahead and try this one on your own. It'll help me know your capabilities, you know?" Mr. Forgle said.

Larry stood there, an expression of disbelief on his face. "Ah'kay. So you're tellin' me..." Larry started before pausing to make sure he had taken it in "I have to climb a tree the size of the State Building, risk actually having a body for my girl to cry over, deal with wind, deal with heights, deal with all'a'that crap simply to retrieve some old buzzard's cat?!" Larry slumped back against the wall and crossed his arms. He stood there a second, as if deep in thought and then stood up again. His face turned slowly to a grin. "Well if that's all it takes to please you." he said "I'm in." He took the paper out of Mr. Forgle's hand and gave him a light tap on the shoulder. Larry was about to leave but quickly turned back around to face Forgle "Uh, sorry, but where's this uh..." he said taking a peek at the paper "Portal room?"

Riku took a deep breath, then looked up at Joel. "Sorry, I shouldn't be so rude. My name is Riku Kitai. I was a member of the Kitai Clan, a group of assassins from another world." He pulled down his cloak, and removed his mask. "I left that world, and the Kitai, after they split apart and engaged in their own war. As for how I knew who and where you were, well..." An embarrassed look crossed Riku's face. "My last mission ended disastrously, so you could say I'm on probation. I was told to meet you here, and work with you until I was proven ready to go solo again. Sorry for any misunderstanding."

He looked around, inspecting the hallway they had been teleported to. "I'm guessing we've been warped back to HQ. Anyways, that was the strangest library I've ever been in. I've been attacked from above before, but never by the CEILING."

Shadar's mind drifted how much supervision the poison required.
'I shall still be able to practice.' He concluded. With all of the sudden events, he hadn't had much time to practice.
Taking the tip of his index finger nail, he ran a line out before him. Next, Yue placed his hands together. He was feeling for the sources of water below the line.
'Ew, there's a mole....or a snake. I think.' Deeming the creature as unnessicary for the enviroment, he slowly split his hands. The act wasn't just symbolic. The line, that he had just drew, split open to reveal a few feet down into the muddy depths of the crust. Placing his hand at the mouth of the opening, he felt the creature below.
'Die.' He thought. Ripping his hand from the mouth forced the water to do the same. All of the water from the creature just ripped out of its body. Closing the hole, yue was fairly proud of himself for obtaining the liquid.

The liquid he got from the being was enough to snake around his body once.
"Yeah with the amount of water I got it had to have been a snake." He concluded, not truly caring.
'Guess its time for me to begin.'

((I am glad things are looking up Xinrie.))

Sokato got up looked around and then sat on the floor. "If I am going to get into a fist fight with a dragon, I might want to disable some of the limiters." He just sat there for a very long time standing still. He is probably formulating a plan and running calculations.

((I am sorry, I can't think of anything right now...))

((Frog, that is an amazing mission. And it looks like it was written by a six year old. Now to start my own, less important mission))

Having headed into the kitchen, wanting nothing more than a decent ham and cheese sandwich, Cyrith was drooling at the prospect of his delicious sandwich. After all, it had been a while since he had had any kind of sustenance.

He was watching as the chef created the sandwich. The bread, the mayo and mustard, the ham, the lack of cheese. Huh? Lack of cheese? He spoke to the chef, and found out one very important thing: all the cheese was gone. As we zoom away from the compound, all we hear is a loud voice yelling out "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

We zoom back in to find Cyrith hyperventilating. After all, what good is a ham and cheese sandwich if there ain't no cheese? After getting his breathing under control, he started grilling the chef, pun intended. "When did it disappear? Who took the last piece? Why hasn't anyone gotten any new cheese? What am I supposed to do with my sandwich?" All he got in return was an address to the local supermarket, and a rolling pin upside the head.

Damn. Who knew that the chef had such good aim? A rolling pin from five feet away, and throwing with her weak hand? I will repeat this to myself once more, cause obviously I didn't learn before: never mess with old ladies. They get scary when they get angry. And off he set to find some cheese. Little did he know, though, that he was being watched.

((My mission is a brainchild I've had, and will be both stupid, and hopefully hilarious for those that read it))

MMHQ

_The panther tilted her head to the side and simply sat down calmly to await her turn. Her tail swished back and forth as she listened to the other man, Riku, explain his knowledge of Joel. Target must be pretty widely known throughout this Mishaps Organization. Guess thats why they wanted him found. She felt an odd static buzz, and remembered her comm link. Without having to dump her whole bag out onto the ground, which she wasn't going to do, she would have to change back. Even as she changed though, her clothes and everything would return to the same way it was when she changed from human to animal.
_There were no flashy lights or mist as she changed like so often in the movies, or any horror filled sights of the in between. One moment she sat calmly as the panther, then her body seemed to blur, like a camara lens losing focus, even if you were looking at her. The edges of the cat blurred more, lost shape, and elongated to that of the outline of a human. Her eyes opened, that dark green that faded to gold, and the slits of her eyes widened back to normal. The focus seemed to reset from her eyes and spread out, so that she looked normal again, or, as normal as a shape shifter could look anyway. The shift only took about six seconds, as she was in no hurry.
_Her hair fell to her shoulders, colored so light it was almost white, around skin with a light tan. She shrugged off the long duster she had been wearing earlier, pushed a button on the inside, and it folded itself into a tiny square and she placed it in the pack on her hip. Her sword still hung in the sheath down her back, with the same black bag slung across one shoulder and rested on one hip. Leather straps crossed her shirt which was a black sleeveless top, the silver skull on her opposite hip gleamed wickidly with empty eyes. It matched a smaller version that hung from her left ear, which was her only jewelry; she didn't like jewelry too much, it broke too easily.
_She stretched and turned, looking at the two men finally. "What?"

"The First Ability, Vampiric Hydro-Drain." Shadar commented. Stealing the liquid water from the underground creature was difficult, only because of the earth.
"That was good." He spoke again. Though it was against his nature to reveal his tricks with the possiblity of people catching sight, the teen still needed to perfect some of his techniques, this being one of them.
((I know how you feel Ace. T-T))

((I have next to nothing on my end...))

Sokato thought to himself, 'The Tau cannon is dangerous and flashy. I would not be able to use that within twelve miles of the city. Theres lots of things I can't use here. Maybe I will have to actually use the sword. I would rather shoot it with something but I guess I have no choice.'
Sokato then puts his sunglasses back on and looks up.
'I wonder how Yue is doing. I bet he has found those two by now.'

Riku looked as the panther that had been beside them now transformed into a woman. It didn't suprise him- there had been shape-shifters in his world.

"I'm sorry, I didn't notice you there. And you are?" he asked calmly.

((
Suddenly I agree with Baltazaar. We do need a new floor layout. Something with stairs on the inside of the main building.
))

Outside Ryanna Rindell's office, MMHQ

Joel caught himself staring at the girl and turned the look into one of polite interest. He hardly noticed the transformation. He had grown up in the kind of place where a preteen boy could go off to another world every afternoon after school to play Halo 23, the eighth perfect-VR version and the most massive world to date. Those were great times, and the source of most of his combat experience. A little polymorph was nothing.

No, the thought that flickered through his mind was, "She'd look really great in green."

Riku's story had missing pieces, but they weren't hard to fill in. Riku's superiors must have heard rumors of a heavily experienced world-hopper wandering around. Either they wanted to keep him from falling into the wrong hands (which had had happened at least once), or more negatively, they might want him for their own ends.

Either way, Riku had asked the question on his mind, so he said nothing and looked politely at the girl.

Mr. Forgle's office, MMHQ

The old man laughed. "Heh heh, come on, I'll show you." He walked to the door and waited for Larry to follow.

Larry folded up the paper and stuck it in his vest pocket, snapping the button to make sure it would stay stowed. "Yeah, yeah. Okay." he said, motioning for the old man to get going "I was a running man, you know. You don't gotta wait up for me that much." He was silent the rest of the way, going over the unbelievable complex objective of catching a cat in his head.

((Eh frig it. Can't wait for Anima any longer.))

Giving a condensing look to Anima, he turned back to the vast area in front of him, Hrisskar felt a slight sense of vertigo as he took in the clouds again, seeing sun-soaked plains and grassland through vast breaks in the cover. Once again looking at the distant city on the tableau, he smiled.

"How long do you think it'll take to get there? About half an hour's good walking?" He asked Anima... only he wasn't there. Hrisskar looked about, peering through the trees, seeing if he could see a retreating back anywhere.

Nothing.

Figuring that the fool must have teleported ahead, as well as the fact he had handed Anima his binoculars moments before, he cursed. His knee was starting to play up, although not to the point it'd severely impede his progress.

Looking back to view the city again, he scratched his head. 'Best be off now. Hopefully I'll find one of the others.'

One hand on the hilt of the sword at his waist, he started to wind his way through the trees and bushes, heading in the direction of the far sun-baked walls.

((Hopefully I've done an RP friendly godmod there, that Anima will be happy about. He'll be able to decide where he goes. Better than making him fall off the cliff or something razz

In other news, hows my new-look avatar?))

_She arched a brow at the caped man named Riku before crossing her arms and leaning her back against the wall with a shrug.
_"I am noone important to you. I work for Mishaps, a newly acquired mercenary I should say."
_Static buzzed across her ear and she flinched, having forgotton to report back in before now. She looked at the far wall and frowned, touching her ear peice briefly. "Yes. Target is safe. We're in HQ, by Rindell's Office." _She paused a moment listening, then looked at Joel. "He's safe. Better than you think apparantly, doesn't look like he has a scratch on him. Mission finished. Yeah yeah, I'll leave the link open." She shook her head in exasperation before looking back at Riku and Joel.
_"Anyway. I said what, because I thought I heard what you said but I must have been mistaken. The ceiling attacked you in the library?"
_She hadn't said anything of her mission yet, wondering exactly how she should explain it.
