Vermillion looked at Anabel and asked; "How is the little tree I gave you doing?"
PostPosted: Fri Jul 31, 2009 2:49 am

"Quite well!" Anabel chimed as she began placing empty dishes back into the empty basket, "It comes up to about my waist from the pot I put it in. You could take a look at it when we get back home, if you'd like."

"Sure, I was fearing it didn't survive the trip, but then again one look at your garden tells me anything that grows is in good hands." Vermillion stood up.

"I think we'd better make for the clearing, and save swimming for another warm day."

(for the sake of time i'm going to use the whole *poof* there there trick)

Vermillion stepped out into the clearing and stopped coming around and kneeling in front of Anabel. "Anabel this is something I'm reluctant to show you, because it would be so much easier for me to maintain what you know of me rather then have you reject me with the truth you're about to see. You know me enough now to know that i wouldn't hurt you, but anyways wait here for a minute."

Vermillion let go and walked further into the clearing, and turning to face Anabel he let the change back take place. His nose ending up a merel three feet from where Anabel stood. Vermillion held his breath for a second while he picked his head up before exhaling above her so that she wouldn't be bombarded by the gust coming from his nostrils.

He spoke and his voice seemed to fill the clearing now; "Alright walk straight forward holding your hand out, and when you feel something solid you'll have come into contact with my right forearm."

Anabel stepped forward at a slow pace. four steps in she felt the sun be blocked out by something, so she knew that whatever it was that stood in front of her was far taller than she was, when she stretched out her arm she felt scales, rough scales that expanded past her height. above her was thick tough leathery skin that went twice the length of her if not more.

Anabel continued frantically palpating his body as tears streamed from her panicked eyes. 'That's why no one would come out of their homes.... He's a dragon! a bloody dragon!'

she stepped away from him and backed away slowly, breathing hard and running her fingers fingers through her hair, "Y-ou're.... a-" she sobbed and continued taking shallow quick breaths, "Dragon..." she gasped as she buried her face in her lap.

"That's why no one would come... They sensed a dragon..." Anabel cried as she brought her hands up over top of her head and pulled her knees in, eventually ending up in the fetal position, "I-I was... Attacked by... Dragons as a kid. They burned down our village."

Anabel looked in the direction of Vermillion's towering form and sobbed, "They... Killed so many people... And wouldn't even explain why." releasing her legs she pulled out a ribbon from the basket and tied her hair back, "I-I'm sorry... I overreacted..." Her body still trembled from the shock, "I-I know you're still... Vermillion... And I still want your company.... I'm just....... Shocked." She stared off into the forest and tried to forget the flash backs coming to mind.

Vermillion took a partial step forward; "I was hesitant to reveal this to you, but you deserve the truth Anabel. I'm sorry those of my race hurt your friends, maybe someday they'll take notice that I'm not a dragon to be afraid of, and I'll get to meet them and perhaps they'll invite us out to celebrate the seasons."

Vermillion looked at the sky; "Anabel their was another reason I wanted to show you this, but its the only way I can make it happen. I wanted to take you on an evening flight, i wanted you to feel the wind of flight, and thought it might make you happy."

She blushed and hugged her arms, "I-It's been so long.... since I've been in the air... I might be scared..." Anabel stood up and timidly shuffled over to Vermillion, "If you feel safe flying with a scaredy cat, then I'd love to give it a try..."

~~~~~~~~
Vaine appeared at the door to his property and frowned. All the glass was punched out, and there were claw marks all over the door, "Y'know... As shocking as all this is... I half expected."
Setting Asillin down, He slipped in through the cracked door and sighed heavily, "This place... Is a mess." he groaned as he examined the damage, "How the hell am I going to repair all of this?" Vaine grumbled as he began picking up tables, chairs, broken glass, etc...
As interesting as this all was, Kaosti was no where to be found. Is it possible that Akuma's child could have lost his mind... Would he have really slipped that far for blood? It would appear that Vaine had made a terrible miscalculation and may have just unleashed a terrible beast upon the land of Nictaros... The worst this town has seen since Kaos and Kartane ripped through it.
Vermillion smiled; "You can be scared, but you can trust in the fact I wouldn't let any harm come to you." Vermillion shifted to set his head down near Anabel; "Just climb on nose and work you way up between my eyes, turn around to face the way you came and latch ahold of one of my horns."
Anabel took a few minutes, but did as instructed, and couldn't stop herself from shaking the entire time. Her mind raced, panic set in, and about the only thing that kept her from running is the thought that this is Vermillion, and that this means so much to him right now.
What happened in the past is something that can't be changed. she needs to stop being so worried about a normally peaceful race.
(And my sicknessness is kicking in and i am done...)
Vermillion took off shortly after she was situated on his head. He climbed quickly, before pausing to glide a few moments. He did soft turns for awhile hoping perhaps the feel of the air across her face would take her mind of the fear of what others did.
He eventually neared the edge of town, and passing close enough he could smell food being cooked at Ive's. His toothy smile was back, and the jitters of tension seemed to relax away. His landing was smooth, almost no pressure felt from the small drop, and Vermillion set his head back on the ground. "Alright were back home now, and if you step off the same way you got on you'll be standing centered between the two signs coming into the west side of town."
Anabel slid down Vermillion's nose, still trembling from her bodies natural reaction to being put through something she hasn't done for a while. she placed a hand on his snout and smiled, "Thank you so much for the flight Vermillion... You are an amazing pilot."
Blushing softly she kissed the top of his nose and turned away with her arms locked behind her back, "I'll.... Meet you at home."
Vermillion smiled; "I'll be home soon, there is something I need to attend to, and then I'll be home. I shouldn't be more then a hour at the most if not sooner."
Vermillion took a step and nuzzled the side of her face carefully; "I do apologize for the rough start, I was nervous, and couldn't really relax until the end. I...I'll see you at home."
~~~Two weeks later~~~

Anabel woke up and shivered. 'Autumn is as cold as ever.' she slipped into her fuzzy flannel robe and fluffy wool slippers, then shuffled downstairs to begin preparing breakfast.

as she made her way to the kitchen she felt an eerie coldness coming from under her door. Anabel opened the door and slipped out into her yard to find the grass under her feet to have a different texture to it; it was hard and stiff... not like the dewy grass of summer. a tear slid from her eye as she collapsed to her knees and wept.

Vermillion came downstairs, and noted the lack of smells in the air. He was rubbing his eye he strode into the kitchen, no sizzle from the skillet, no warmth to the kitchen from cooking. He took a moment to listen more close and he heard something outside. He opened the door and stepped out to and scanning over the garden his eyes came to Anabel.

The sounds were not happy sounds and his feet kicked into gear as he moved off the stoop of the steps to kneel down beside Anabel. "Are you okay, did..." The chill started to come through his knees, and it hit him why she was crying. He pulled her into a hug placing his warm cheek on hers whispering into her ear. "I'm right here, listen to my voice, let it be your salvation from the tears you shed."

Asillin replaced the windows with her own glass-like crystals, repairing them one by one. she appeared satisfied with herself, happy she could help.
"Master, where do you think Kaosti could have ran off to? Why did he break so many things?"
she asked as she looked at the broken items in the room with disgust.

Anable held herself shivering in terror, "... You... should... leave here..." She brushed the side of his face with her clammy trembling hands, "I don't... want you to see me dying."

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vaine placed his hands on his hips and sighed, "He's a young lad with a lot of power... He's also very very hungry.........." he paused, "And very stressed out." he added quickly, "That's what caused all this... And there's only one way to fix it..."
~~~~After the two week skip~~~~

Things had returned to normal at Vaine's manor. The debris was shipped out and burnt in the front yard, and the new stuff had been put in it's place. Vaine sighed with content as he looked around the manor, "Doesn't quite have the same feel to it, but it'll grow on me in time... What do you think Asillin?"
